  1. Yup that is the one. Or one of the common two errors (the other is something like ERROR 404). And then there is the blank screen, usually on weekends... Just below the X to close program, on Chrome there is a vertical line of three dots. Click and the third option is "New Incognito window". That is the one you want to try!
  2. I book excursions and specialty dining (and cancel and re-book when I change my mind!); last week I added Standard Cancellation Protection (my PCC called to make sure I intended the Standard and not Platinum! that we had used last winter). According to the website when looking at my booking, I could also book spa treatments, add Beverage Package (if I didn't have HIA!), and arrange Flight Ease by myself. I've only needed to call my PCC to change Promo package, "re-fare" for a cheaper rate, or move our cabin, and of course to book another cruise! And I generally e-mail her and have her phone me at her convenience as I am pretty much available. If I don't hear from her in a day or so, I call it to make sure there is no message on the recording about her being away from the job (which was only true once). ETA: reading the above, it seems like the best of all worlds! But to each their comfort level. ETAA: Also, we pretty much only cruise on HAL, if I needed someone to search across lines, or wanted to deal only with the same person for various companies, an online agent might be better. NOT the pizza store, and NOT the "flyer in the mail" people, been there done that.
  3. When I went to cancel a booking of two Lanai cabins on the Rotterdam for a transAtlantic-- a booking I had made online by myself -- on Friday two days New Years 2017, only to find the office was closed and phone going unanswered. I remembered the e-mail letterhead giving the name, addy, and extension of a PCC assigned to me. I emailed and called that person (who had had nothing to do with the reservation) and those date-stamped messages allowed my sizable deposits to be refunded to me. This is why I am a loyal PCC user. (My original PCC retired over the pandemic, but her replacement is quite possibly even more effective!)
  4. The OP @happytotravel is in fact quoting the current definition of SBP. The Quench package now also has the 15-drink per day limit (I think it didn't use to).
  5. The article was for @darkarbiter, not @cruisemom42. Darkarbiter, welcome back to posting on Cruise Critic!
  6. Agree that the "boards" on Cruise Critic are very helpful, not only for the LIVE reports but simply for assessing the "culture" of individual lines. Are people talking about contests, kareoke, or classical music? And so on. Obviously, some people like each of the lines! Here is a recent article, but again, their criteria may not be yours. They mixed Mainstream and Luxury lines in their rating. Maybe just reading the descriptions and feedback might be helpful. Cruise Lines Ranked From Worst to Best | Far & Wide (farandwide.com)
  7. They include any day that has a night on board. The total for two on my 35-day (night) Voyage of the Vikings is $3500.
  8. My incognito Chrome window is operating great, 4:30pm Mountain.
  9. JMO, in your desire to punish HAL, you are punishing yourselves. Were your cancellations for Inside Guarantees in potentially the worse/noisiest locations? I probably wouldn't pay for them either!
  10. These friends are joining Taters, cate54, & sailingdutchy who sailed from Athens October 20th, now to visit Spain and Portugal before a relaxing TransAtlantic. Wishing them fine weather ashore and fair winds & SMOOTH SEAS on those long days on the ocean! Bon Voyage to Oosterdam - 14 day Spanish Farewell: @kochleffel @Shalandara @Vict0riann
  11. We have sailed primarily with HAL. Exceptions were one Panama cruise on the Norwegian Star and one transAtlantic on the Rhapsody of the Seas. Both older and smaller ships. The Star was dismal, the Rhapsody upbeat. I literally would not accept a free cruise on any NCL ship.
  12. Haha, we did the opposite! Walk to the appropriate elevator bank from our cabin mid-ship on Deck 4 instead of some deck with all the people and stimuli.
  13. Here is a video of a Vista Suite on Deck 7. It does appear that the Lido Deck overhangs somewhat (again from about the 2-min mark, to the end of the video). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJ89dyYt93E As far as the internal arrangement of furniture et al, this one also should be left-right mirror image to yours. Your bed should be on the left from the door. Unless my eyes are playing more tricks!
  14. Yikes! I should put my reading glasses on to read the computer screen! That was the cabin next door to 7028 not 7078, SORRY!
  15. This older video of the next-door suite would be a mirror-image (bed on the left, sofa on the right as you enter from the hall) of yours. The roof of the expansive balcony, at about the 2-minute mark, appears to align with the footprint thereof, so your star-gazing will be out toward the horizon but not further obstructed.
  16. Well, guilty. But if you look at the list of things we DON'T do, I have to break up the Kindle reading and drinking my Beverage Package with something! My husband looks at expensive watches even though he has one for every day of the week I think.
  17. Spa. Pool. Trivia. Gamble. Art (auctions or other purchases). Photos (although I have vowed to let them snap us, as they get paid for taking not selling). Oh, and also do not turn on the television after watching the muster video.
  18. Welcome back Jacqui! I was prepared to post the Bon Voyage for November 1st! As far updates, we are booked on the Oosterdam for Oct. 10th - 20th, 2024 - 10 day Adriatic Antiquities Oct. 20th - 31st, 2024 - 11 day Mediterranean Romance Oct. 31 - Nov. 14, 2024 - 14 day Spanish Farewell Note for the Oct. 10 cruise: It does not touch the Adriatic Sea...
  19. The daily Crew Appreciation charge is $16.00 per guest per day for non-suite stateroom guests and $17.50 per guest per day for suite guests. The charges are subject to change without notice. Upgrading Signature Beverage to Elite has been $10pppd and both must do it. This has an additional service charge of $1.80 pppd as well. So $778.40 if you are NOT in a suite, and $820.40 in a suite (including a Vista Suite). It's really hard to beat the Early Booking Bonus terms!
  20. Monty's suggestion to browse and eavesdrop on the Viking (or other lines') CC boards is a good one. I'm convinced you can learn a lot from the nature of the threads and individual posts about the "culture" of the cruiseline and its passengers!
  21. Welcome back to posting on Cruise Critic! What cruiselines have you been in contact with? Our experience (although not since the startup) on Holland America in open-seating was to show up at the MDR podium and indicate that we would be happy to sit with others. This would get a BIG SMILE from the hostess or host and almost immediate seating at a table of 6/8/10
  22. When we were going to travel on one of the lightest-weight carryon airlines (Norwegian I think), I made a spreadsheet, weighed EVERYTHING on my multi-purpose scale, bought Eagle Creek Specter packing cubes to replace my heavy eBay ones, thinned out everything possible, and cross-packed to distribute the weight. Then they didn't even weigh our bags! Possibly the fact that I picked each one up with two fingers? IDK
  23. I ran (not walked) to see if my one cruise not booked with HIA, had the same mistake (20% of 35 days x2pax would be substantial!) -- but no. Sad face!🥺
