  1. There are a lot of noisy room on all ships. You have to look at the deck plans and book accordingly. That's why I never book "Guarantee"

Good for you, perhaps you didn't read or fail to comprehend, I didn't book a guarantee, I booked this room specifically so that I don't have to deal with smokers since we'll be up wind of everyone else.

I posted this so that others are aware

  2. Just back from our august 2nd cruise of the triumph. There wasn't much posted on this particular room before hand so we booked it but here are a few caveats.

You will be woken up at 6AM every morning by the thumps above by the tread mills. Depending on the runner, it could be a steady rhythmic light thump or a thundering herd of elephants which would shake & rattle our walls.

Second of all is that people do go out to the "secret" deck at all hours of the night and the exterior wooden door will slam very hard, shaking the wall that your headboard is connected to.

Lastly, if you do book this room, be prepared to shim the balcony dividers with fun times as that will stop the metal on metal creaking/banging depending on how hard the wind is blowing.

Over all, it's still a great ship & crew, just annoyances of that room that I wanted to share.

I contacted guest services the first time this happened and they asked the spa/gym people to put signs up to not use the set of treadmills that was over our room until 8 AM, but I don't think people paid attention to it.

Much to guest services credit, they did check on us throughout the cruise to make sure it was okay.

2 of the days were port days which we had to wake up early anyway but on the last sea day, it happened again.

  3. I got a few price reductions for my upcoming cruise. They put it as an OBC. I will not be using it on board for anything. Tips are paid, don't gamble, don't drink, no excursions are being taken. Don't want any spa treatments.

So can I get cash to use at the locations we stop at?

Someone said something about getting cash out at the casino. What do I have to do in order to get the cash to use?

    Thanks!

If you're really adamant about cashing out, you can go to guest services the first day and take the cash out if you wish.

  4. Forgive me if this has been asked before, and unless i glanced over it on the Carnival website, but when are final payments due for cruises? I've always paid for mine upfront and never did the payment installments. A friend and me are looking at a Spring cruise next April on the Pride out of Baltimore. I sailed on the Pride in 2011 and this will be my first cruise since then.

I usually do a mock booking then select the bare deposition option, then the website will tell you when the rest is due.

  5. After 30+ cruises I am so excited about going again. I woke up this morning and was thinking I finally get to say I leave THIS Sunday!!! My tummy has butterflies in it. So I was just wondering if you have a cruise coming up in less then a week do you feel the same way? :D

I know how you feel, we're leaving this Friday for sail away on saturday and I'm doing the "last of everything" count down right now.

Today is last monday before the cruise

  6. Has anyone done the Carnival excursion to Discover Mexico and Chankanaab Park? Considering doing this to get a little history in with snorkeling and beach time. Family of five - kids are 12, 16 and 17.

I'm pretty set on Chankanaab, just wondering if we should just go on our own.

One point of confusion - we are in port 1-10pm, the excursion says it's 5 hours starting at 2pm. Chankanaab website says they are only open until 5pm. So, do cruise guests get to stay longer?

    Thanks for any advice! ;)

I'd recommend just get a taxi and go on your own, it's 21 per person at the gate but there is a 2 dollar coupon that you can get. taxi from port is fairly cheap.

  7. Does anyone have the latest activity schedule for club 02 for the triumph?

Kiddo who's 10 was asking if he could see the activity schedule to plan.

Also, are the parents required to be at the initial meet and greet? I'd hate to miss sail away.

  8. Never saw any of them open on first day. I have several times held a cabin, then renewed the hold when expired. Once able to book on board, took my iPad, released the hold and let Future Cruise desk snag and book it for me. If the cabin gets away, they are able to see more available cabins in that area than you can on your end. I have selected one I preferred even more.

I always have all info written down before going to the desk. Be there as soon as they open and be prepared.

Oh, btw, they can not retrieve a cabin or booking number while you have it on hold. Your PVP at home can do this, however.

Good luck and happy hunting! :)

You can use the wifi for free on the ship to access the Carnival website. You can cancel it whenever the desk does open.

Good to know and thank you for the tips.

I plan on renewing the hold for the next 10 days until I'm on board and ready to book the 2nd day at sea.

Btw, do they charge the deposit to your on board account or do they ask for a credit card present?

  9. We have done 23 days on the Miracle and all in Aft Ext cabins and loved it! It does depend on the direction of the ship of course but we never felt baked on the balcony. We have always been on deck 8 right below the Lido and never had any issues with too much sun. It's nice having a lounge chair and a regular chair to sit and relax and read.

Does it get a decent amount of breeze?
