  1. Hi Lisa, Thank you for your input. Yes, I called twice because the first rep(outsourced I think) tried to tell me none available, guarantee or otherwise. Since I was skeptical, I then called my HAL contact and she said plenty available but could only book through the number in email so I called back. Thankfully, I got another rep that was not outsourced but still could not choose my room. She did mention once assigned I can call and move, LOL,LOL. WELL, you know how that goes. There has to be one to move to. I figured what the heck as the OV was a guarantee and the price was right. Hopefully, I will still feel this way once assigned, LOL. EDITED TO ADD: As I give it more thought and look more I see what you mean. We can end up in what HAL considers a "better category" like those juliet balconies on Deck 11. Oh well, will hope for the best. If I would have given it more thought may have just stayed with my OV. With that said, I now worry about COVID and no fresh air....will keep you updated, lol.
  2. Hi Mary, Thank you. It is on the Koningsdam and we noticed the same as you. We will see where we land. Later in the same month we are booked on same ship in a large assigned inside(1124).
  3. Received an offer today for a paid upsell to go from our guarantee OV cabin to a guarantee obstructed view balcony. This is for our December 5 sailing, 11 nights to Mexico. They could not tell me why I could not pick a cabin but for $99pp I will take my chances. After all, our OV was a guarantee so what is the difference? I was also offered an unobstructed balcony but it was more than I wanted to pay. We typically do not use our balcony.
  4. I have been offered an upsell(via email) before my guarantee cabin was assigned.
  5. We've even taken the Public Bus from the San Diego airport to the pier. It is this close.
  6. @trixiee -Thanks for the heads up. Like @Mosaic we are on this trip in 2024. I have done some reading and the people and region are in dire straits. It's sad. I hope if HAL does make a change it will be done in a timely manner. We will still take the cruise, but I really don't want to deal with a Yellow Fever Vaccination or exemption letter unless I really have to. Currently, we must show proof at the pier or they will not let us board.

  9. For various reasons we typically purchase HAL Cancel for Any Reason Insurance. Adding HIA increases my insurance cost so this is also something I consider.

We were there in May/June after our Zuiderdam TA. While there we took the bus to Haarlem and enjoyed it very much. You are fortunate to be having lovely weather.

  13. This is correct. HIA is added to the cruise fare and your insurance premium will most likely go up.

  18. I am not seeing the same low pricing in my account. This must be specific to you. If you are considering I would book asap or at least put a hold on it while you decide.
  19. The disadvantage for me is that it is part of the Lido. If it was a separate free standing restaurant then maybe.
  20. I am sorry I wasn't more clear. It could be the gin and tonic, lol. It makes no sense what HAL did. The prorate should be on the fare you paid. And, I too would be disappointed you now lose the shareholder 14 day credit.
