  1. Some concierges are better than others.  I too would have gone over his/her head abotu this Kids on sundeck rule.

Breakaway last month had a big sign at the entrance to the sundeck saying no kids.  it was enforced, surprisingly by the parents for their own kids!   We avoid school breaks, holidays and summer cruises period, haven or otherwise due to kids.

the times we've sailed Haven, the kids that have been there were either European or Home Schoolers (all well behaved and well mannered).

Sadly, the majority of American children are out of control.  It easy to see why so many teachers are leaving the profession, i dont see how any of them can actually teach when kids arent taught basic manners and how to sit still and be respectful of authority.

  2. thanks!

i know ive gotten pushback when ive tried to use the concierge.  I believe its the same one used by Haven guests but they reallly dont like to extend this benefit despite it being listed.  I assume very few ask about it since like the "pre-cruise service desk" its vague.

  3. 1.  Pre-Cruise Service Desk.  What is this and how does one access it?

    2.  Signature Tier Pins - weve never gotten pins of any kind.  Do these need to be requested?

    3.  Internet Package Discount - is the "upgrade" to unlimited wifi beyond the 150 minutes considered a "package"?

Teppanyaki used to serve a small plate of salted Edamame beans, nice to nibble on before they bring out the miso soup and salad - we missed having them,  Last time on the Joy, the individual serving size was probably worth about 25 cents or 50 cents at most based on retail price, less when they bulk ordered from wholesale distributors.

If most folks didn't noticed another subtle change, NCL isn't going to bring them back, if at all.

on Breakaway last month we got the Edamame.  Weird you did not.  Maybe certain ships they are seeing if they can get away with not offering it.

I did notice they no longer do the paper menu with the Origami.  THAT, i actually missed LOL.

I dont like Miso soup, so ive always asked instead for double salad which theyve done for me.

we too had strip steak instead of filet.  i opted for the chicken which was good, as i dont like any steak other than Filet and Hanger.

  5. have any solo cruisers here successfully won a bid to upgrade to the Haven?

and if you are a solo Haven cruiser (full price or upgrader) are you allowed to have a guest for dinner (or i guess breakfast or lunch ) once or twice during the week given that you have paid double occupancy or will they still charge you the nominal fee IF the concierge even allows a guest (i understand this "perk" is often concierge discretion).

  6. this is def a game changer.

when we were on a few weeks ago, i was looking for the right coupon and teh maitre d' said "oh it doesnt matter which one anymore" and we took that to mean that the two coupons were interchangeable for the 4 listed restaurants.   never thought to ask!!

as an aside, as much as we love teppanyaki, $70 is freakin' outrageous.  id never pay that for a dinner there.

  7. hi, so the latitudes vouchers are no longer 1 for cagneys or lebistro, and 1 for moderno or lacucina?  i dont ever remember being able ot use them at teppanyaki, buit if you can that's awesome.

obviously it makes sense to use these at tepp and moderno as they are both flat fee and use FAS for the non-flat fee.

  8. well you only lose the promotions if they are not being offered as of today.  if the promos are the same (they often are) then you get them.

once you are past final payment, it *used* to be that if there was a price drop you could move up to a better room (i.e., move from window to balcony) as they wont adjust you at that point.  not sure if its the same now.

  9. so last time i did Vibe you had to get the passes once you boarded at guest services, if you were lucky enough to snag one.

now, you can book online in advance.  my question, if anyone here knows, is how do i get my actual pass?  is it a wristband or key card given to me at check in?  or will it be left in my stateroom?  It also says its valid for 5:00 pm (sailaway time) but last time i could access it immediately upon boarding.

  10. we've sailed in May and September.  this year we are trying out early october (columbus day week to be specific).

hoping to see some scenery, but weve never had good luck with animals.  they always evade us.

i could care less about shopping so if stuff is closed no biggy for us.
