  1. Like I said, $5 extra per tail would be a reasonable amount of money for X to charge us. $21+ with tip is just insane for these tiny tails...They wouldn't lose any money, keep customers happier, and have less negative resentment
  2. we be on Valiant lady in 11 days on our 3rd comp casino cruise. The FOOD is the main reason we keep coming back (and service), we have done Caribbean far too many times and may not even get off ship. We also have upcoming comp on X but likely will cancel due to all of the cut backs. Did 30 days on SilverSea last summer and food is better on Virgin IMHO...same BS as X they cut corners all over the place. Prior to Covid, SS was our fav, but now it's Virgin. Talk about a HUGE difference in demographics!
  3. This really makes ZERO sense. Why would your mainstream step down brand offer high quality menus over the premium line??? I for one will be cancelling our upcoming March cruise if something doesn't change...WHO on earth approves these changes?
  4. New onboard promotion is "GO LEAN"...the less you eat per day, the more highly prized cruise points you get! They will promote this as a new alternative to weight watchers, and hire Oprah as spokesperson. Now food costs at all time low, ships sailing full, and debt is paid off. You're welcome X.
  5. Celebrity's newest featured program "GO LEAN"...when you only order one entree, get points to spend onboard!
  6. Lobster wholesale bought by cruiselines under contract for thousands of pounds probably $8/pound. Here is article that shows how low it got and these are not retail prices you are referring two. https://www.nationalfisherman.com/steep-lobster-price-fall-represents-a-return-to-normalcy-for-now So yes, charging us $21 w/tip for a 4 ounce tail is an utter rip off....Carnival is only charging $5 per tail which is still making them a profit...
  7. Probably cost them less than $5 per tail. Glad we cancelled our booking with X after hearing about all of these cutbacks. These tails are like 4 ounces, so one tail isn't going to fill up anyone. Serve an entire full lobster tail not a 1/2 and then charge $10 per extra full tail....but $21 with tip for 4 ounce of lobster is a total rip off
  8. Why? They are about 4 ounces. A pound of lobster is probably about $12 for X to buy in huge quantities. So for $21 ish with tip, you get another 1/4 of lobster meat that cost them $4 to buy? Never charged us before for a 2nd tail, but they should charge us now for extra small tails?
  9. Great article for those considering Virgin! "Another Dream Vacations owner, Trapper Martin agreed. “I am a foodie for sure and have been on 140 plus cruises. For us, being onboard for almost two weeks and eating in all the restaurants at least twice, the consistency and quality of the food was just outstanding.”
  10. Easy, Virgin! Unless, of course, you have kids. So nice to be on adult only ship!! Food compares to paid restaurants on X but with no charges....fresh, creative, and a whole new exciting world awaits! We are done with X and have a Virgin 8 day at end of month. Will be our 3rd Virgin cruise... Curious how many pax that have cruised X have tried Virgin?
  11. We are early 50's have cruised probably over 500 days at sea with just about every cruiseline. Have you tried Virgin? The food is outstanding, no crowds, fun vibe, and no noticeable cutbacks since they started. Virgin is to me, a great alternative in X, if you are more foodie driven vs fake luxury appearances. The crew is BEST of the best and superior to any line we have been on. No buffet, it's a made to order (no waste) food court that has high quality offerings.
  12. IF you think PAX are unhappy, I bet you the staff/crew that have the privilege of eating at the OVC at night are SUPER PISSED! Can you imagine if they have been eating onboard for months and suddenly are stuck with this slop and selection??? Happy crew = Happy paxs....this cut goes far deeper than what you see on the surface!
  13. But you can get Prime Rib on Royal's new menus? ...this makes ZERO sense as Celebrity is marketed as the upscale line. We are seriously considering cancelling our upcoming cruise. All of these cheerleaders telling us how everything has gone up in price...sure, along with the price for us to cruise on Celebrity, tip on Celebrity, but drinks on Celebrity, and the list goes on and on. Celebrity keeps increasing costs and decreasing quality/variety and they will lose passengers paying a premium for a non-premium experience.
  14. So this fee encourages pax to go to OVC and make their own TO GO plates and take back to room....How much more food waste will occur since ppl will overload plates to avoid making 2nd trip. Did the bean counters not calculate this food waste into their decision? Add the $9.95 fee, and increase selection to better justify what you want from me, which is more money, in return I want better variety/quality of food from room service. Should keep both sides of the fence happy...er.
  15. Don't let anyone tell you Virgin isn't for you...honestly, it depends on how open minded you are to enjoying a different experience. We have sailed Oceania, Seabourn, Silverseas, Regent....Virgin is a great cruiseline, that caters to adults wanting high quality dining, service, and a ship with a heart. The crew on Virgin are the best of the best and have worked on luxury lines in the past. They get it!
  16. We are Elite on Celebrity and have done 2 Virgin cruises. We leaving Jan 28th for our 3rd Virgin cruise, this time an 8 day. We are married, both 53, and have been on over 65 diff cruises Food: hands down Virgin is superior. Virgin's restaurants are equal to paid specialty dining on Celebrity, with no charges...Everything is top notch, with no big surcharges to eat well. Service: Virgin has the most authentic happy crew at sea. Not the fake hello you get from tired, overworked crew on ships like Celebrity. Ship: We find the ship layout on Virgin is rather choppy. No wow places, but in return, you have a much more yacht like intimate feel with tons of cozy places to hang out. We do love the edge class ships and find it the best designed ship in the biz. Entertainment: Well, we have never had so much FUN on a cruise until we sailed Virgin! The shows aren't as mainstream, but the overall vibe is one of exploring and letting loose. Overall, if you go with an OPEN MIND, and are ready to have a great vacation you will be hooked. Fun ship, no kids, relaxed cool vibe, and awesome food & service. I will take a Virgin Cruise over a Celebrity any day of the week for these reasons...
  17. Welcome to the #1 rated luxury cruise line on CC, they promise to provide you with so much stress before you vacation ever begins!🤣...Avoid using SS air at all costs.
  18. Until you get to t-minus 30 days and they change your flights. I don't recommend any praise until you actually get on the flights as things change very often with SS air...it's a terrible dis-service to SS pax.
  19. Why doesn't SS just provide a flight booking engine online (they can use the tech Celebrity already has and rebrand to match). Flights by Celebrity is a great tool we used, it provided us with contracted rates and the ability for US to choose flights. Most travelers have preferences, and giving us the control we want would FREE UP massive resources, improve customer satisfaction, and fix the issue https://www.celebritycruises.com/ca/find-your-reservation/flights-by-celebrity Switch to a cruise only fare, then pick your flights, and add transfers. Everyone is happy. I for one was given a 6pm international arrival time for a 7pm ship departure. We did the management dog and pony SS show with air, even got human to call us (VP's). We were flexible. SS was not. It was all price driven, as we verified the flights assigned were the absolute cheapest you could buy.
  20. I won't cruise again on SS unless it's P2P fare only.
  21. This is 100% correct. The P2P is far less after credit; usually thousands do the math! Wait till your lovely D2D assigned flights gets you into arriving international airport at 6pm for a 7pm ship departure. What a nightmare dealing with SS air (which you can't call humans, and must email). I would never book D2D again...unless SS gave the pax CONTROL over our flight choices!
  22. Sat in the warmer all night from 6pm till you ordered it....most of this stuff is not cooked to order, sadly done banquet style...We had 3 attempts of MR prime rib; all came out MW. Ended up walking out also. Got a Pizza...what a joke.
  23. IMHO money is the driving force behind what's currently going on. Every crew member onboard is paid from fares not tips like on mainstream lines, thus keeping staffing as low as possible helps the bottom line. When staff are overworked it shows, and they are less friendly. Pre-covid vs post covid on SS for us was a noticeable difference. Newbies have nothing to compare it to... Biggest problem I think they need to figure out is D2D or P2P. SS should drop included flights and transfers. Give us an online flight booking tool like Celebrity using RCL's low contracted rates they get from airlines. Food. The menus are old and tired and need modernization. Food quality is lower grade. Bar choices too limited. I can go on RCL's Celebrity and get 10+ bourbon choices, 20+ types of beer. Supply chain isn't issues, it's simply management ignoring trends like not offering IPA beers, more than one type of liquor per category... 1. Go back to selling cruises and not all inclusive travel 2. Treat staff better (pay and benefits). Happy staff, happy pax 3. Revamps menus and modernize. Food has no wow factors anymore. Eden on Celebrity is a good example of wow factor . 4. Add SALT to entire fleet or SALT featured dishes to ships that don't have space to convert 5. Revamped entertainment was mentioned before covid started. Stale and still nothing changed. It feels like RCL is stumbling on what direction to take SS. Nobody is driving the ship, it's on autopilot. Problems are fixable now, before you start to loose loyalist and experienced cruisers alike. Only time will tell which direction SS is dragged by RCL management.
  24. When I book my own air and hotels, it's exactly what I want, when I want, where I want to stay or fly. SS has enough problems to sort out on their ships... and the whole concept of door2door is tarnishing their image. The hotel I booked in Venice this summer after our SS cruise had us settled in by 10am vs other pax that staying at SS hotel; rooms weren't ready till after 4pm...go figure when you have a few hundred ppl arriving at same hotel at same time.
