  1. Thank you @cruiseny4life and @CDR Benson. We have stayed in suites on the smaller Jewel class ships, but we never had access to the Haven, and they don't have a Haven Restaurant. We are so looking forward to the Haven Experience. @cruiseny4life, we are staying in a Haven Penthouse Suite. I believe they used to be Spa suites, but are now Haven Penthouse Suites. It does seem like a quick elevator ride to the Haven. Thanks again.
  2. We will be in a Haven suite on the Getaway. Deck 14, not in Haven Courtyard. Any recommendations from anyone that has had this type Haven Cabin? Did you feel you missed out on the Haven Experience. Thanks
  3. Hmm, I'm booked through CAS. I know I'm too far out to book dining for our February cruise, but I tried doing a mock excursion booking, and I can't book it. I thought it was another one of NCL's "glitches", but I wonder, now, is it because it's a CAS booking?
  4. Yay!! Mine too! 😊 What a long week this was, waiting to see what was happening.
  5. Sorry in advance, if this is a stupid question, but if the Getaway is cancelled, are five months of sailings out of NYC just gone, kaput, not replaced with any other ships or cruises? I can't believe NCL would want to lose five months of cruise revenue. I've never experienced this before, so I don't know how it works when NCL cancel cruises.
  6. This is so upsetting. If all these cruises are cancelled, there will be no Caribbean Cruises out of NYC for the winter. I wish NCL would just acknowledge what is happening. There is no way this could be a glitch for weeks. 😞
  7. There are no cruises showing for the Getaway from February thru May, 2024. We have a cruise booked for February 2024. Still showing in my account, but when I try to book an excursion , it says an error has occurred, try again later. I called NCL, and the agent told me all Getaway cruises are still showing able to book. She doesn't have any idea what's going on. I hope it's a glitch, but it's been over a week.
  8. We were on the Gem in February in a two bedroom suite. The suite was not updated. The cabin was starting to show a little wear, but it was still a fabulous cabin. (normal size balcony). The bathroom was very, very nice. It still had the separate shower and the large soaking tub. I believe on the Pearl, they removed the tub, and just made a big shower. But the shower was plenty big enough, with a floor to ceiling window in it, and a large window over the tub. Non haven suites on the Jewel class ships are one of the best bargains, I believe. No, you can't use the Haven pool or courtyard, but you get everything else you would get in the Haven, including Breakfast in Moderno, and Lunch in Cagneys, with a Haven menu. And since there is no Haven restaurant, I don't think it's worth the extra money for a Haven Suite, just to use the little pool. We love the Gem. We are disappointed it's not in NYC anymore for the winter sailings.
  9. We were on the Gem this past February, 2023. The club balcony suites most definitely still have the high sided tubs. If you have any knee or mobility problems, you will find it difficult to get in and out of the tub.
  10. Ok, so it's like getting a free cruise next certificate. But the comp cruises are not as good as they were. Can you use the $500 towards the Administrative Fee? Thank you so much for taking the time out of your cruise for all the info. Enjoy the rest of your cruise!
  11. So you can no longer get comped cruises? Just the $250 or $500 off. Wow! We sail on Monday on the Gem. It will be interesting to see what we get. If it's only $500 off a new cruise, then, you are right, time to look elsewhere. We have friends that sail Carnival, and they get sooooo much better deals from the Casino.
  12. Hi pcakes. Are you back from your cruise? Did you find out any new info? Thanks
  13. Thank you so much for posting these pictures. I would say these are definitely obstructed views, and they should be listed as such on NCL website.
  14. We always do the same, about 5-7 days before we cruise. It gets it out of the way, and it makes keeping track of your onboard charges much easier.
  15. Everyone in the room may wake up if you use the bathroom, but it's not because of a light. Depending on the configuration of the cabin, if someone is in bed, there head is right next to the toilet.
  16. Does Carnival match your status with NCL? It seems Carnival gives so much better comps then NCL. Thanks for any info
  17. Thank you for all the info you provide on your posts. Where do you find this information? I would love to check on different cruises.
  18. Don't get upset before your cruise. You stated you are going solo, so you will have enough room on your balcony, no matter how angled it is. Balconies on the Escape are not that big to begin with, so a little bit of an angle won't matter that much. Once you get onto the ship, you will forget about your balcony size and have a great time. Have fun with your friends. Enjoy your cruise!
  19. Thank you for responding. I checked again, and everything seems pretty much back to normal. It looks like just the Club Balcony Suites are guarantees. It must have been some kind of glitch. 🤷‍♀️
  20. I checked our cruise on the Gem for the end of February. Every category shows either sold out or guarantee on most cabins. Very odd.
  21. OMG, give it a rest. I don't know what you want me to explain to you. Comps are based on your points. Whether you got those points by spending your own money, or by winning money and then spending that, you are going to get comped something. For every point you have, that means $5.00 was either put through a machine, or bet at a table. If you have 10,000 points, that means $50,000 was put through the machines or bet at a table game. That does not mean, the player SPENT $50,000 of their own money. You can sit at a slot machine, and put a $100 bill into it, and spin and spin and spin. Win lose, win lose, win lose. Maybe you sat there for an hour. In that hour you got 100 points. That means, even though you only put $!00 dollars into the machine, your points show as $500 played. So, if these people lost $20,000, that means they would have played $100,000. Are they going to get a $100,000 comped room? Of course not, but they would get more then $5,000 in comps. Nobody should be playing just to get comps, but if you're going to play, and you know how much you have to spend, and that amount does not exceed the comp you got, what is the problem? Like I said, if I have a $10,000 comped cabin, and I spend $10,000, it's the same as me just paying for a cabin and not gambling. If I spend more, then it's up to me to know how much I'm willing to "lose". Because if I spend more then the comp, I consider that a loss.
  22. I'm not taking what you said personal. But a few things, you might have misread from the post regarding CCL. The poster said, the people he was talking to spent $20,000, and only got $5,000 in cabin/comps. If they SPENT money, that means it was THEIR money. Then he came back and said, well, $20,000 was an estimate on his part. So obviously, he doesn't know how much they spent. Why would you think the poster did not intend anything condescending, but was trying to help. I think if these people he was talking to, are Elite status, and get comps, they really don't need his help figuring out how much the Casino will give them. A non gambler, telling someone how the Casino comps work, is like a civilian telling a fire fighter how to put out fires. I think a fire fighter would know more about how to put out fires; more then a stranger he just met on the street. I'm not saying a gambler always wins or get comps. That is impossible. But when I look at the points on my Casino card, on the last day of a cruise, I can pretty much figure what kind of comped Cruise I can get next time. Also, we plan how much money we are going to spend based on how much the cruise would have cost if we paid outright. If we are in a suite that would have cost $10,000 for two people, and we don't go over that amount, then it's a wash. If we spend more then $10,000 of OUR money, then, yes, we lost.
