  1. I’ve used ReliefBands for years. I get motion sickness very easily. I can get sick just watching television and I can’t watch a computer screen scrolling. I use it for cruising (only wear it when the ship is moving), boat rides and flying. I would be miserable without it. I’ve always traveled with two bands and a bunch of batteries. The batteries last about four days for me. Just bought two of the new rechargeable ReliefBands. Sea Bands and ginger don’t help me at all. Haven’t tried a patch, can have nasty side effects. Pretty sure you’re not supposed to drink alcohol while wearing a patch. Bonine works well too. Sometimes I use both. Dramamine makes me way too drowsy. Had trouble staying awake for dinner. Dock B, hopefully your DW will recover uneventfully from her anesthesia. I had general anesthesia once and did not have any nausea.
  2. I too have just caught up. Thrilled that Jim and Iain are sailing again. Always a fun, informative read, full of positivity.
  3. Loving your review. The Gatsby dress was fabulous—of course. I have a map dress too. So am I in the GenX club? So sorry you lost your friend. The sea is indeed a comfort. DH was only 55 when he passed from cancer. He was given 3-6 months, was gone in 3 weeks. Everyone enjoy life to the fullest NOW.
  4. Thanks so much for taking the time to write this review. I’ll be on Silhouette in January. Just seeing the picture of waves hitting the window made me a bit nauseous. I always travel with two Relief Bands (one is a backup) and Bonnie.
  5. Happy birthday! Enjoy your wonderful cabin. What a nice present for you!
  6. Murano! My last two meals at Tuscan were disappointing. Now I don’t bother.
  7. I’m so sorry you’re being neglected. I was sent to Covid Jail on Silhouette but received plenty of attention. I used to think it would be preferable to be quarantined in my original cabin. Now I’m not so sure. I travel solo and have no one to be my advocate. If Guest Relations is useless maybe try the Hotel Manager? Please recover quickly.
  8. I spent 8 days quarantined on Silhouette’s Deck 6. The view wasn’t bad. And it was fascinating to watch “my” lifeboat lowered and taken for a spin.
  9. Signed up for this years ago (pre-Covid) on Barbados. Sounded like fun. (I’m a foodie.) Was canceled the night before. Didn’t find a replacement excursion. Disappointed. Not sure if I want to try again sometime.
  10. Safe travels and a speedy recovery from your eye surgery. Glad you’ll have plenty of audio books handy. (Saved my sanity after cataract surgery.) I’ll be in major Jim_Iain withdrawal for some time. When your next live review pops up I’m pouncing!
  11. I love that you take many cruises and post superb live reviews!🚢 Always something to look forward to.
  12. On a TA from Barcelona our discussion group for “The Shadow of the Wind” was led by a literature professor from a well-known German university. I was actually scared to attend at first but the meetings turned out to be no-pressure fun. She was a wonderful teacher.
  13. That reminds me of my DuoLingo app. (I’m beginning Arabic.) Now and then they throw in a quirky sentence just for fun: ”The swimsuit is small but it is for my mouse.”
  14. So excited to follow a another Jim_Iain adventure! Your posts totally make my day. And Summit is a sentimental favorite for me—our first X cruise in 2002. Someday I hope to do a B3B. My first B2B was foiled by covid (not kicked off the ship, just locked up.) Here’s hoping covid stays far, far away from you both.
  15. I’ve had champagne stoppers (different brand from above) pop off more than once at home. I’m too chicken to store a bottle it’s side.
  16. Arriving in San Diego from a Panama Canal cruise there was an issue with customs that caused quite a delay. Missed an 11:30 flight. Not even close to making it.
  17. Just want to note that on a BTB on Silhouette in March I spent 8 days in quarantine (balcony cabin). Solo cruiser. I wasn’t miserable, just bored. I’ll be on a 10 night cruise on Silhouette in January. If I get symptoms I’ll self-report again.
  18. Jamie thanks so much for your fun review. Think I’ll cruise with a checklist to try out most of your drinks. My kinda homework!🍸🍸🍸 I was very careful on my March cruise but still caught covid. Fully expect to catch it again, just hope not on my January cruise.
  19. I caught covid on the second leg of my BTB on Silhouette in March. Was moved from my suite to a balcony cabin. My 8 days in quarantine weren’t fun but not torture either. Sailing Silhouette again in January 2023. Not staying home. 🚢
  20. I’m so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this. I’ll miss seeing his CC posts, a wealth of not only reliable information but kindness too. Please take care.
