Some car hire places don’t allow their cars on the Bruny Island ferry so taking your own would be an advantage

My parents paid for my brother’s wedding. I have no idea how much it cost.

Our refund of our credit voucher from Insure and Go was paid into our bank a/c overnight. Not bad, I applied for the refund late last Tuesday, so reasonably good service from them seeing as they said it could take a few weeks to be completed.
Leigh
Was that Tuesday of this week or last week? I applied last Friday and I’m still waiting

I can recommend Channers on Norfolk, wonderful hosts, great location, excellent accommodation (self serviced apartments) and comes with a car.
Thanks. There’s a TA in Port Mac who has some good prices on packages but I’m hesitant to use an agent.

We are planning to go to Norfolk Island next year. A lot of the accomodation places include car hire and insurance

Thanks for the heads up Leigh,
I went online and claimed the refund through my account. It looks like it will take about 4- 5 weeks before it hits my bank account but better than not getting anything back at all. Odd pro rata calculations, worked out roughly 30 percent of our money back.
I’ve just received the refund message. We get back $645. I wouldn’t use them again either. -

Initially they weren't offering refunds on the annual policies, just deferrals. You should have got the option to do that way back. But if you didn't choose to do that then your annual policy would have expired as usual.
We chose the deferral

We took out our Insure and Go annual policy in July last year but we didn’t get an email with an offer of refund
-
I think a lot of people who have bookings will end up cancelling with these rules.

I think it’s going to be difficult to get travel insurance

Both companies have a notice about policy deferrals on their websites.
InsureAndGo states:
"For all Annual Multi-Trip policy holders who have not made a valid claim and can no longer travel as planned due to the impact of COVID-19 we will consider a deferral of their policy. To register for this credit please login into your account here and follow the steps."
AllClear states:
"For all Annual Multi-Trip policy holders who have not made a valid claim and can no longer travel as planned due to the impact of COVID-19 we will consider a deferral of your policy."
jland, have you made any claims on that policy?
Thanks for that. I’ve just requested a differral. -
We were at Braidwood yesterday and it was packed with tourists. No social distancing on the kids playground.

Insure and Go, Australia Post and 1Cover are all refusing refunds on policies. They always had good reviews in the past. It’s going to be difficult to choose a reliable insurance company now.

Yes, and we paid taxes for 40 yrs. We are no millionaires either.🤢 We have travelled on a few P&O UK ships and when you tell the Brits re our pension scheme, no automatic right to it, they are aghast and choke on their G&T's or black pudding. Everyone in UK on reaching pension age gets the age pension or state pension they call it, even HM The Queen and Charlie boy with their zillions of quid.
Now don't call Uncle Les a 'whinger' just stating the facts.😬
Agree
We are also the same

I had an extensive trip to USA planned for May this year that included hotels and internal flights on US airlines. I have only received credit note for the airlines (NO CASH REFUND) and the credit must be used within 1 year of my original booking which was sept and oct last year, so I have to use them by sept this year - as if thats going to happen! You think Australian company bad for giving you a 3 year credit note. I had travel insurance, but they say because I got offered credit note cannot claim. So I just have to put that down to "s..t happens" and get over it. At least I am home, in my own country with family and friends all healthy - cant say that for lots of tourists stuck in various places around the world.
We had flights booked to New Zealand. Emirates is only providing Travel voucher for ticket value with a validity of 12 months from date of issue. Thankfully we hadn’t booked anything else, -
I have a friend who hasn’t travelled overseas but has decided to self isolate for 14 days due to multiple medical conditions
