  1. I hear you... however, any cruise ship copying local food is still not the real thing 🙂 So having lunch or a snack at local restaurants is just part of the whole experience. And one thing is guaranteed - you won´t stay hungry in Japan 🙂
  2. Except for Ramen on the last day`s buffet, there was no focus on Japanese food. It was the usual variety.
  3. Thank you! You might find some of your other ports in our older reviews linked in post #178. I was ready to book another cruise to Japan. Birgit persuaded me to book something different. I am already sorry I listened to her 🙂
  4. You need to join the roll call for this kind of info:
  5. When it comes to beverage package the Xpress pass will say CALL for Classic and PALL for Premium. Spelled out Classic on the top - as the OP mentioned - is the loyalty level and has nothing to to with beverage package.
  6. It is! Stateroom category, Loyalty Level and Casino Level are the three things... Pearl seems to be the lowest and basic level at the casino. I never gamble. A few years ago I played roulette only once with $20 onboard credit. Since then it says Pearl on my card.
  7. You lost me on e class 🙂 E class don´t have to go through revolution... they are the revolution. With the old M class TVs (unrevolutionized) you can´t even check the account. That´s why I doubt you can do anything there - without hacking into the HDMI. Refurbished Millennium has the new software, ethernet and all - Infinity and Constellation have exactly what you said: dumb displays - only connected with old fashioned coax cables.
  8. The question was for Constellation. She has not had any upgrades yet and the old TVs are still used. So I doubt it would work. We were on Infinity in Juen. Same thing... old TVs, no interactive system etc.
  9. I think you are mixing up two things here. Yes, E class ships have no set dining times anymore. But of course you can make reservations for a time on the app and they are recognized on board. Worked fine for us. But making reservations is not a must. We only did for some nights and didn´t have any problems on the other nights without a reservation. So in the future I won´t bother making reservations.
  10. Yes, this was from when they started E class…. Then they stopped it because people didn’t want to be assigned to one restaurant. But this has also been discussed for month and months…
  11. Assigning tables and fixed dining times are separate things. of course you can ask for the same table to be reserved for you at the same time. However, everyone can jus come as they like. On Apex we witnessed the usual long lines on embarkation day at the dining desk next to guest relations. All the people who weren’t happy with either the early or late seating they got. All received the same answer which was: Come whenever you want, dining times don’t apply on E class. So I can only relay what staff on board said and what I heard on board… not on CC or FB but from guest relations staff. 🤷🏻
  12. No fixed dinging times on E class anymore. just a thing of the IT system.
  13. Nice to hear that we could entice you to choose Japan. I am sure you won´t regred it. We stayed at the Oakwood Suites Hotel in Yokohama and were positively surprised. Huge rooms, great view and friendly service - for a very reasonabe price. We paid €113 for the night and it was well worth it.
  14. Hi, tbh I really dislike the ship tours with big groups and following a number. So I would always recommend a private guide for a small group. You can always find people to join you on the cruise critic roll calls. However, you need to be able to manage some stairs and steps. Not just at the sights themselves but also getting there via the train stations etc. Oliver
  15. Currently my number 1 recommendation would be Japan. We just returned from our third cruise to Japan and we are already contemplating a next trip - maybe even just on land. Japan is absolutely beautiful! However, choose local guides over ship tours to get the authentic experience.
  16. TBH, having done all the ports this is not an itinerary I´d recommend. Southeast Asia, yes... great cruise. Japan, beyond fabulous!!! But mixed up like this you won´t get to appreciate the freeling of one or the other. We just did Japan (our review was linked above) and we have done Asia before. And we´ll do Asia again in December. But I wouldn´t do this mix.
  17. 2 x no 🙂 Can´t go to the anytime section, and no, you don´t have to let them know.
  18. Second week of being back at work and we miss Japan terribly 😁 BTW in case you are interested in the travelogues of our previous Japan cruises, here they are: Japan on Millennium, Fall 2017 https://www.travelandcruise.net/travellove_en/Our-Trips/Celebrity-Millennium-Japan/celebrity-millennium-japan.html Japan on Westerdam, Cherry Blossom Cruise 2019 https://www.travelandcruise.net/travellove_en/Our-Trips/HAL-Westerdam-Japan-01/hal-westerdam-japan-01.html
  19. Thanks! You will enjoy the tour with him. Just be aware, he´s a fast walker 🙂 BTW: Blu is never (with very rare exceptions pre covid) open for lunch. And we have never experienced wait times for breakfast. Sometimes for dinner, but never breakfast.
  20. Our favorite staterooms on M class. Just stayed in 1108 on Millennium - great!
  21. My personal hotel tip for Singapore... Andaz Hotel Singapore And a good option for a bit less: Pan Pacific Singapore
  22. Thank you! Always interesting to read new things. Singapore is not unfamiliar to us. It’s one of our favorite cities. We have been there a couple of times and once had the pleasure of staying in Singapore for a week, A fabulous price we won with Singapore Airlines 😁 Our favorite airline - not just because of the price we won. Unfortunately we’ll only stay for a night this time. And we already have our favorite (food) places on our agenda 👍
  23. 2023 – Japan – Celebrity Millennium – Day 15 – The End The next morning we took the train to Haneda Airport and had a last Ramen for breakfast, before a 14.5 hour flight over Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Iceland and the UK brought us back to Frankfurt. Do you think these egg eyes on our Ramen looked sad? Is it possible that the moist spots on our polo shirts were not just the typical collateral damage of having a Ramen but teardrops? YES, absolutely !!! While having the last Ramen at Haneda Airport it slowly sunk in - we were leaving this beautiful country and its friendly and lovely people. This had been our third time in Japan and definitely not the last. Our hearts had begun to beat, or maybe drum, a bit Japanese. DOMO ARIGATŌ GOZAIMASHITA, NIPPON! We love you, and we will come back. Thank you all for following along on our trip! Sorry the last parts took a while. When we were back home, real life took over again. Our next cruise will be unusually soon, Singapore to Hong Kong on Solstice over the holidays. Of course we´ll try to report here again.
  24. and with no rush at all… We even had time for a nap in the afternoon.
  25. The train took us back to Yokohama where we checked into the Oakwood Suites Hotel. From the lobby on the 46th floor we could still see Millennium at the pier below. Soon she would set sail and take more explorers to enjoy Japan. Although we had booked one of the smaller rooms, our studio on the 49th floor was huge. It had a fully equipped kitchen and a generously sized bathroom. The balcony provided a fantastic view over Yokohama. We took a nap and when we woke up again, it was already dark outside. IMG_6649.mov For dinner we went to Yokohama‘s Chinatown, happy about this fabulous last day in Japan.
