  1. I don't think it's more luxurious but it's Disney, it's the feeling you get when your in one of their parks compared to being in a universal park. (That special feeling)

That's how it feels on one of their ships, the people who attend are more upper middle class and of course less "singles" and more family's so you won't have any "shenanigan" type behavior on board like you may find on Ncl, especially with the implementation of the beverage package.

  2. True Story

In the early 2000s while sailing with my good friend and my family, this exact situation happened to me.

I won't mention the cruise line or ship because I'm lucky to have not get banned, I still enjoy and sail this line today. Copious amounts of alcohol was involved and that's all I'm going to say.

We left Florida heading on an eastern Caribbean itinerary. On the first night the "incident" occurred and the security team confronted my friend and I as we were heading to our rooms. My friend was pepper sprayed and the security officer chased me to the room, as I got the door open in the nick of time, he stuck his foot in my door to try to pry it open. I tackled the door and broke his ankle and the door closed, eventually my friend was let back to the room and we were confined to our cabin indefinitely. We had a 24/7 escort outside our door with a clipboard and chair. We attempted a few escapes but his radio broadcasts dispersed security quickly.

We were told we were going to be disembarked by life boat to the Bahamas, large waves made this impossible so we had 2 full days at sea ahead of us until we reached st martin.

We ordered 2 of everything off the room service menu and chained smoked cigarettes non stop in our ocean view cabin. After writing an apology letter to the captain we were allowed two 15 minute breaks a day to the promenade deck for some air.

When we arrived in St martin we were disembarked with an escort that took us on the airplane and flew to Miami with us. The reason being is because my friend was 20 at the time. The cruise line paid for the airline tickets which I imagine were very expensive since it was last minute.

We were young and stupid, not our proudest moments but certainly a good story.

  3. Are you kidding me???? Why all the hate on Disney? I have sailed Disney 5 times with my once girlfriend and now fiancé. Disney is the cruise line on the top of our list. The shows are hands down awesome, I don't even bother with shows on other lines. Castaway cay is the best cruise line island their is and my favorite destination over all. Remy and Palo are unbelievable.

The adult area is great as well, personally we never notice the kids more than any other line.

    You gotta try it!!!!!!

  4. I really don't think they are targeting celebrity at all. I think virgin wants to appeal to the 20-50 year old range that you may find on Ncl, Ccl and Rccl.

I have a good friend who I brought on a cruise 2 times. Both times he hated it.

He felt he was "trapped" and claimed he felt like "cattle" which I can understand.

I think virgin will address this by doing some radical things such as removing the buffet and assigned seating for good. You may see things like a permanent cruise fare that's relatively cheap but you will be nickeled and dimed for everything you see, there may be one quick service restaurant that's free but that's it.

I don't think there will be drink packages and I think the nightlife on board will be that of nightclubs on land with real good lighting and sound systems.

I think they will go to alternative ports in both the east and west Carib that will draw people to the ships. So many cruise lines have good "ideas" but virgin will be revolutionary.

And the best part is you will never have to go to Nassau again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. A box of wine will never set off the X-ray, same as bringing on rum runners, no glass or metal to trigger. I bring boxed wine on 3-4 boxes at a time and have never had a mishap.

  6. At this point even Port Canaveral is not guaranteed. They had 107mph gusts earlier this morning.

I haven't heard any status updates on any of the Bahama ports yet.

The fantasy and dream will both be going to port Everglades this week.

  7. Thank you for this information. We have a Havana "balcony" booked for a B2B in January and I am eager to experience this area for myself. I am a little concerned about the privacy of my patio after 7 PM, but I figure I will really enjoy the Havana pool area during the day. I hope you had a good trip!

By the time she gets to Miami, Havana should be 24 hr exclusive. Too many complaints adding up, they read these complaints on the forums as well as the post cruise surveys and Havana is a new concept they don't want to fail.

Horizon could have an expanded Havana, possibly a whole deck of Havana cabins, imagine the extra revenue carnival could generate.

  8. when I check the price for those cabins on Carnival's site, they never show up at all. Is it that you can only book them through a TA?

It's because they are the most popular rooms and almost always sold out.
