  3. Is the Breakaway really worth the $600 or so difference? We love Bermuda. We went there on the Celebrity Summit two years ago, but this would be our first NCL cruise. We had a balcony on Celebrity due to being able to go in early June when the prices are lower, but we have no choice but to go in high season. We loved Celebrity, but since the destination is the same, we want to at least try a new ship.

We could pay the same amount and have an oceanview on the Dawn vs an inside on the BA. An oceanview on the BA would be $600 more total. We just can't see paying that much for a window.

What do you guys think - Inside on the BA or Oceanview on the Dawn?

you are comparing an orange to an apple

  7. We have never sailed on Norwegian before, and just booked two cabins tonight. Our travel agent called us and informed us that there is a $178.00 fee for two of us for the beverage package gratuities. Is this normal?

We've sailed Celebrity countless times and always had the free beverage package but never had an additional charge, so this is really new to us.[/QUOTE]

Are you sure Celebrity never had an additional charge to their package

  8. According the the recent press release from NCL, the menus changed on the Breakaway on the 31st of January.

Beginning on January 31, Norwegian will also be expanding the new specialty dining menus that debuted on Norwegian Escape across the fleet. The introduction of these new enhanced menus at the line's signature specialty restaurants - Cagney's Steakhouse, Le Bistro and La Cucina - along with new offerings at Moderno Churrascaria and Teppanyaki, will further elevate guests dining experience with more options new flavors. The menus include traditional French favorites at Le Bistro such as Bouillabaisse, pan-seared jumbo bay scallops and veal medallions with sauce morrel, and a more robust menu at La Cucina featuring antipasti, risotto and traditional secondi courses like Osso Buco alla Milanese or pan-seared sea bass filet. These new menus will be offered on Norwegian Breakaway as of January 31; Norwegian Getaway on February 14; Norwegian Epic on March 6; Pride of America after her dry dock on March 15; Norwegian Gem on April 1; and Norwegian Dawn after her dry dock in June.

  9. Can anyone advise please if the $250 Cruise Next Vouchers are only allowed as a deposit on a future cruise, or can they be set against final payment when a deposit has already been paid? If so, can more than one voucher be applied to the booking (I assume not!).

We are cruising soon on PoA, and have another cruise booked for October so wondering if there is still a way to apply a voucher to our October cruise.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. So both DH and I are platinum and enjoy our complementary Le Bistro dinners. wIth the shift to a la carte dining at LB, is the whole menu fair game? Is there a separate menu for complementary diners (like the separate wine list)? We're on the BA in 2 weeks. Thanks!

    https://www.ncl.com/latitudes-rewards-program/benefits-details

Complimentary Dinner for Two at Le Bistro with a Bottle of Wine**

**Benefit entitles guest to one appetizer, one entrée and one dessert of their choice. Entrée item in Le Bistro excludes Homard Roti Au Beurre (lobster tail) and Cote De Boeuf Pour Deux (Angus beef ribeye steak for two). Entrée item in our Italian restaurant excludes Lobster Fra Diavolo (Maine lobster) and Bistecca Fiorentina (T-bone steak). Restrictions apply.

  11. You can have even more courses than that, if you want (multiple starters and desserts, cheese plate, etc.). But only one entrée (= main dish) per person at Cagney's and Le Bistro is included. If you order more than one, it's $10 for each extra entrée.

The change to à la carte does not have any effect on this rule. You can still order as much as you want, but only one main dish per person.

I'm not sure what the rules are for La Cucina, since pasta dishes can go either way (starter or main dish).

There is no mention of La Cucina for the upcharge see below in bold from T&C

  12. I will be sailing on the Norwegian Getaway in May 2016. I booked the cruise back in 2015 and was able to get a free Ultimate Dining Package (UDP).

Can someone please give me a listing of what restaurants on the Getaway are included at no extra charge?

Also, can you include any up-charges for those restaurants that the UDP gives a discount for?

    this will help you

  13. please don't think i was implying you were calling it fraud. There have been several who have though. What i believe to be fraudulent is ncl continuing to take people's money for the obc. There are reports of them taking funds for obc beyond $1000 within the last couple of days. We even tested them, as we were in the midst of elevating our complaint (since we kept getting different as swears as to obc limits, policy changes and "technical glitches" and were able to purchase more. We allowed them to sell us an additional thousand, just to see if it wojod go through, it did. That was 3 days ago. The policy change supposedly took effect jan 21 (if one is to believe one of the many stories we have been told by ncl ).

    time to let go

  14. hey all

if you are not happy with the menu

maybe you should book a lower

level cabin and eat in the mdr

you will save alot of $$

You can still eat in the mdr even if you are in the haven ! you are not required to eat in the haven

The haven police will not stop you .

Each day we have a look at the mdr menu if we like we go there .

  15. So I'm sorry I have so many questions, but I've been exploring the boards and reading some reviews but I thought I would put some of my major questions all in one place here.

On NCL how early can you generally board the ship. We have always been ones to arrive around 11, expecting to board around noon. Is that a fair expectation?

When are rooms ready on embarkation day?

I purchased the UBP and the UDP. I understand that with the UBP the majority of the drinks I would be interested in are going to be included in, what is the price cap of drinks that it includes?

For the UDP how do I know what restaurants are included? I know the Illusionarium is not included, but are there other restaurants not included?

When and where can I start making reservations for the Illusionarium? We booked for next January, so I'm assuming I can't book reservations this far out, but can you make reservations online?
