  4. As I put in my title, we bought our Drink and Dinning package a year and a half ago before all the changes.

     

    I know I do not have to pay 18% gratuities on drinks and food.

     

    There was never an ala cart charge restaurant when we signed up except for the sushi place.

     

    We like Cagney's and La Bistro but we can eat there as often as we want no charge?

     

    We know we can order only one main dish, but can we have as many sides or deserts as we want no charge?

     

    Can we stop in to any restaurant and just have appetizers or dessert no charge?

     

    Is there any place I can get free lobster on the OLD UDP?

     

    How about no reservations?

     

    I know I still have to keep my drinks under $15 for them to be FREE.

     

    We got lucky as those packages were the best and never to be repeated.

     

    Am I forgetting anything?

  6. We (me, DH & son) are going to book the Escape. Our 1st NCL cruise is next week, just my DH & I for a few days so I amreally NCL illiterate.

     

    We are booking the free at sea....we want the UBP & ppd service charge. If these are "free", what is the choice promo service charge of $199.08 that is being added to our reservation?

     

    Can anyone help me understand this whole promo thing or should I call NCL?

    What's the service charge?

    Why is there a service charge?

    The reason there's a fixed service charge is an important one: Our Crew (as are the crew from other lines) is encouraged to work together as a team. Staff members including complimentary restaurant staff, stateroom stewards and behind-the-scenes support staff are compensated by a combination of salary and incentive programs that your service charge supports. How much is the charge? Onboard Service Charges are additional.

     

    How much are the service charges:

    • $13.50 USD per person per day for guests staying in Studio, Inside, Oceanview, Balcony and Mini-Suite categories

    • $15.50 USD per person per day for guests staying in Suite and The Haven categories

    How do I prepay my service charges?

    At what point in the booking process can the prepaid charges be added?

    They can be added at anytime up to 24 hours prior to sailing.

     

    Why would I prepay my service charges?

    If I cancel my cruise are the service charges refundable?

    Fooling around with pricing here and wondered if we put (4) adults in a Two Bedroom Haven Villa do we all get the 5 perks...so (2) would sail free and we would just split the cost 4 ways? has anyone done this? it seems to good to be true...

     

    Im figuring there has to be a catch...

  8. We will be taking a cruise on the Breakaway soon and had a question about transportation from Secaucus, New Jersey to Manhattan with luggage. We can take the bus (#320 - I think) which takes you to the Port Authority Bus Terminal or the train which takes you to New York Penn Station. Both are $4.25 a person. Our hotel is conveniently located to both stations. We would be doing this early afternoon (before 3:00) on a Thursday. It would be myself and my teenage kids (13 &15). We have traveled a lot and they are used to riding trains and subways and looking after their luggage. I have read that the train station at Secaucus can be confusing and I am wondering about getting the luggage through the turnstiles.

     

    Any help or advice would be appreciated.

     

    Just got off the BA last May29-june5 , We stayed at the same hotel in Secaucus we took Uber to port Imperial (tunnel was congested) then took Ferry to Midtown / W. 39th St.,We passed behind the Gem and the Ba took some great picture a short walk from pier and the Ba less than 5 minutes walk

  9. Completely random question -- are there celery sticks served up with chicken wings on the ship?

     

    I LOVE chicken wings (and with the UBP and wing availability - NCL seemed to be a no brainer for us) as well as celery and blue cheese. Do the wings on board come with celery? Or at least carrots I hope.

  10. My wife and I just finished our 7 day cruise onboard Pride of America in Hawaii. Our last night I placed my luggage outside our stateroom with the provided Salmon color tag. Next morning we disembarked as instructed and proceeded to baggage claim. Our luggage was not in the Salmon marked area. We searched every color in the entire terminal with no luck. We eventually filled out a lost baggage claim form and was told we'd be contacted.

     

    Has anyone had this happen to them? Can anyone offer advice on how to proceed or what to expect.

     

    I figure I will need to be persistent. I've already started a list of items in the luggage. So frustrating and not the best way to end a cruise ☹️.

     

    They kept saying someone must have mistaken out luggage for theirs. I believe if this was the case another piece of luggage would have been left. We waited in the terminal a long time and all luggage looked to be claimed.

    we were on the breakaway May 29th to June 5 2016, we were in the haven suite 13902, Got off the ship around 9.00 am , we were missing 1 luggage. they kept saying someboby took the luggage by mistake , we waited until all luggage were claimed there was 5 luggages unclaimed , we filed a missinf luggage report and hoped for the best . Approx 1 week later we received a call from a pax . The Pax explained He hire a porter to get the luggage and loaded the luggage in the car . When the arrived home they realized they have our luggage they contacted Ncl and informed them of the mistake , they were told to return to port with the luggage , that's a 2 hours drive . Pax opened the luggage and found our information inside the luggage. Pax called us explained what happened and offered to ship the luggage to our home via courrier, Our Name ,telephone # and adress in Canada was inside the luggage. 1 week later we received our missing luggage.

  12. I've tried searching and I know the info is out there, but just not finding what I need.

     

    Is the charge for room service still $7.95? What does the price include. For example, if I ordered a sandwich, fries, salad and desert would the room service fee cover all items or would there be additional fees.

     

    Also interested in opinions about the room service........the good, the bad and the ugly! Is it worth it?

     

    And if anyone has a copy of current room service menus I would appreciate having a chance to get a preview.

     

    We are sailing in late October on the Dawn out of Boston.

    info. The reservation person said there is a $7.95 charge after 10am. So,

    does that mean every day breakfast room service is free of charge? Also,

    if we come back from a day out and want a snack, it looks like room service charges for everything outside of breakfast. Please clarify my thinking...thank you.

    2- Also, I asked if there is a wait for a table in the main dining room at any time.

    I was informed 5 to 10 minutes at most. Is this accurate? That's fine with me, but if it is longer, what times are good times to arrive? She also informed me that there is a formal night on the second night and you can dress up, but it is not necessary. Do most people wear formal attire on formal night? I am wondering what to pack.

     

    Waiting time varies on each ship ( the larger the ship longer wait ) 5 to 10 minutes is pretty accurate Best time to go is around 5.00pm to 6.00 pm

    Dress up night is totally up to you some pax do some don't it's not compulsary

     

    3- I also wanted to clarify if you can order the water package once you board. The NCL rep said you could order it once onboard. The prices are prohibitive! If any one has experience with this, please confirm as I have read otherwise recently on CC

    In my opinion the water on the ship is fine to drink , I always bring some empty water bottle and go to the buffet an fill up and bring to the room , on our last cruise we ask the steward to empty the mini bar and he always put a pitcher of water in the fridge for us ( PS: don't forget to tip him extra at the end of the cruise)
