  1. I originally booked my upcoming October cruise this past January and had 4 SDP, when I changed my booking in April I lost a night so it was definitely changed a while back (might have actually been in March when I read they were changing from 4 down to 3 nights)

The first two guests receive 3 meals on 5- to 9-night cruises and 4 meals on 10+ night sailings. Applicable service charges apply

another vote for dinning for sure

  2. Wife has special diet needs.

Went on Carnival cruises in the past, with assigned time dining, and the special attention wife received was great.

Hostess sat with her with the next day's breakfast/lunch/dinner menu and they picked out and built specific suitable meals for her.

    Love Carnival for that!

We're thinking of going on Norwegian Escape in July 2016. Norwegian only has Freestyle dining (plus specialty restaurants).

QUESTION: Will Norwegian be as attentive to wife's dietary needs as Carnival was?

    Thanks!

I have severe allergie to msg and have low sodium restriction

, this is my 4th cruise with ncl I Contact NCL prior to MY cruise - call 1-866-584-9756 once on board you will have a letter in your stateroom to contact the dietian , every evening after meal the dietian will meet and bring the next day's breakfast/lunch/dinner menu for you to set up your meal . We are going on the Breakaway this Sunday and I have received a call from pre-concierge that the dietian will meet us at 4.00pm in the Haven lounge Sunday afternoon

  3. That really is the best way I can think of to put it. Our Escape cruise this Saturday will be my first ever so I have absolutely no idea what to expect going in. We have the UBP and the dining package for four nights. We've made reservations for Teppanyaki, Moderno, and Bayamo already, and I'm hoping there will be reservations available for our fourth night at either Pincho or Food Republic once we're on board.

At the risk of sounding like a pig, I'm really just curious about what the limitations are at these specialty restaurants. I know Cagneys has an additional fee for extra entrees, but I have zero clue about the other places. Particularly the a la carte ones. What if I want to indulge (be a glutton)?

Sorry if this has been gone over before. I searched, but couldn't find quite what I was looking for. I've been lurking since we booked our cruise for this Saturday, and appreciate everyone's posts and input.

    THIS MAY HELP YOU

IN WHICH VENUES WILL MY SPECIALTY DINING PACKAGE BE HONORED?

Specialty dining packages are honored in Cagney's Steakhouse, Moderno Churrascaria, Teppanyaki and our French and Italian restaurants across the fleet, as well as Margaritaville on board Norwegian Escape. Guests who have purchased the package may also choose to dine in other select à la carte priced restaurants, entertainment-based restaurants, Bayamo, Pincho Tapas Bar, and Ocean Blue restaurants, for the following per person upcharges:

    The Supper Club - $15

    •Ocean Blue - $15

    •Bayamo - $15

    •Cirque Dreams/Illusionarium - $10 regular seats/$15 premium seats/$35 VIP seating on Breakaway

    •Sushi -$7

•Raw Bar - $7 (does not include Seafood Plateau. If ordered, the upcharge is to be waived)

    •Pincho Tapas Bar - $7

    term & conditons

Specialty Dining Packages are available via pre-sell or onboard purchase on days 1 and 2 of the voyage only. On 3-day sailings the package is only for sale on day 1. No refunds are available if fewer restaurants are visited. Specialty Dining Packages are non-transferable. An 18% gratuity and specialty service charge will be added to the package price. Reservations are not required for Specialty Dining Package guests, however, tables reserved onboard will be subject to availability. We encourage you to log in to My NCL to make dining reservations in advance for specific night(s) of your cruise. Specialty Dining Packages are based on a per meal basis and include our steakhouses, churrascarias, French, Italian and Teppanyaki restaurants. You may choose to dine in entertainment-based and certain a la carte priced restaurants for an additional charge. Dining options vary by ship. Guests who have purchased a Specialty Dining Package and wish to dine at one of the following venues will be charged an Upcharge instead of the full cover charge or a la carte price: Ocean Blue - $15 (does not include Seafood Extravaganza. If ordered, the upcharge is to be waived); Bayamo - $15; Cirque/Illusionarium - $10 regular seating/$15 premium seating/$35 VIP seating on Breakaway; Supper Club-$15; Sushi -$7; Pincho Tapas Bar - $7; Raw Bar - $7 (does not include Seafood Plateau. If ordered, the upcharge is to be waived). If the Upcharge option is selected, that visit will be counted towards one of the meals in the package. Room Service, Mini Bar, Food Republic and District Brewhouse, Specialty Items in the Asian restaurant, Hot Rock, a la carte items in the Main Dining Rooms, The Bake Shop items, The Bake Shop, O’ Sheehan’s Ice Cream Bar, Gelato, Chef's Table, Special Occasion/Holiday menus (New Year's, Christmas, etc.), Jazz Brunch, Wine Lovers and Murder Mystery lunches, and beverages are not included as part of the Specialty Dining Packages. No kids pricing available for Specialty Dining Package. Excludes all 1 and 2 day sailings. Charges will apply for additional main course orders.

  4. The real answer is you won't know until you are on board. It's hit and miss with television coverage.

On our last cruise , we called guest relations before cruise (1.800.327.7030) ask about the possibility of having some nhl hockey during our cruise , we were on the Gem and watched ottawa againts new york in the atrium

  5. Just a follow up on my Haven sundeck question:

Based on your experiences, do we still need to get to the Haven sundeck early to get a lounger? Even though we are early risers, we don't want to have to have to worry about finding loungers. If we didn't land in the Haven AFT room, we would have probably frequent Spice H2o but even with that you still need to make your way out there early to get a lounger. At the same time, being at the AFT, we are not that far away.

With the Haven sundeck and Haven pool is forward, assuming that there is not a 1:1 ration of loungers for Haven quests and seeing that we land in Miami at 10:00am and boarding the ship via the Haven entry/line is there any benefit (other than the limited amount of guests) of trying for Vibe passes or do you think we would even have a shot at getting them? We just don't want to worry about getting a lounger outside regardless of the time of day.

I sort of feel like I am answering my own question but I'd like to hear from those who have lived it.

your concierge usually has some vibe pass so I would check with him first

  6. We will be heading back to Bermuda on a shiny and fresh Dawn in July.

We don't arrive in BDA until 1pm now, so we want to get off the ship ASAP and hop a cab or shuttle to the beach.

Arriving in BDA is definitely a spectacular sight. I'm thinking we will watch from the promenade instead of on the top deck.

Does anyone have any tips or pointers on how we can quickly disembark and try to beat the chaos at the pier? The Dawn in particular?

And no, we can't upgrade to a suite and get priority disembarkment :)

    Thanks!

    jump off the ship

  7. We are only in Bermuda for one day and we don't think we will have time to make it over to Art Mels, but was really looking forward to trying one of their fish sandwiches.

I know plenty of places may offer fish sandwiches, but are there any that would be like the ones at Art Mels if we only plan on going to Horseshoe Bay Beach and back to the dockyard?

I was really looking forward to that fried fish/raisin bread combo.

  8. Should I be concerned if our drink packages are missing from our "my ncl" pages? We have two rooms ... Me booked in one with our two girls, and my husband booked in another with our son. Having two logins to check and manage is very annoying. But in any case ... Our package came with the UB package for my husband and I, and they gave us the soda package for my son. We paid for the soda packages for the two girls (which was slightly annoying since one daughter doesn't drink anything carbonated ... But whatever). However, not all the packages are showing up on the website. I've called, and the rep says she can see them in the computer, but couldn't answer why I couldn't see them. Should I be concerned?

Call your pcc and ask for a "Amenity confirmation"

  9. My PCC was able to get us an upgrade for our cruise this Sunday. We had inside room with 4 night SDP. He got us a balcony with 3 night SDP, $100 OBC, and UBP for $377. I feel like he got us an awesome deal and cant wait to surprise my family.!! It pays to stay in contact with the PCC.

Good to here there is some good PCC, I was not so lucky with my PCC I booked a Bermuda cruise last January for this June , I informed my Pcc we have a cruise reward to use and wanted to convert to CDN fund . Our Pcc said could not be done if using our cruise reward . so gamble and did not convert to Cdn fund and used the cruise reward . after reading on these thread found out cruise reward could be converted to Cdn fund and convert the cruise to cdn fund. Called our pcc informed him He said ni asked to talk to a supervisor and supervisor confimed that cruise reward can be converted to CDN fund .

I had to cancel loose all my perk and the price was up. Because our Pcc was not aware of the convertion it cost us $21050.00 more to pay for our cruise

  10. You may be able to find a wine list with prices somewhere on the board. Those who like nice wines sometimes find it is cheaper to bring their own, even with the corkage fee added. I think a bottle of Berenger White Zinfandel was $29 if that gives you some idea. The prices go up substantially from there. And yes, any wines not finished can be taken with you, or they will give you a receipt and store them for the next meal. You can ask for them in any restaurant on the ship.

  11. My daughter (21) is travelling with me on Epic this June on a girlie vacation ...yay! :):)

So, she is also visually impaired, she has a little sight but she doesn't let it stop her in any way. We regularly go to concerts and she will bring her little telescope so she can see detail on the stage.

But I am really wondering if I should book the Cirque show based on her lack of sight. I can get the tickets at a really good price as we have a promo SDP, but really don't want to waste our money if there isn't a hope of her seeing something.

I think the balcony seats might be more doable. My question is are the seats at the level of the performers?

I also plan to speak to guest relations to see if we could perhaps view the seating and see what would work best for her. We have found in the past that concert organisers are usually very helpful and supportive but I have no experience of NCL. We once got moved to the very front in a Michael Buble concert and the difference for my daughter was phenomenal. It made her night.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

there are several video on youtube

  13. I'm researching our Breakaway cruise in November and keep reading about Spice H20 and the Waterfront, but I don't know what they are! Can someone please enlighten me? I'm gathering they are both places I'll want to be hanging out?

Also.....is there a list somewhere of which restaurants are free on the Breakaway and what the prices are on the extra cost restaurants??
