  2. Can I get Beef sausages, or failing that vegetarian ones? The menus seem to say they are all pork which I don't eat. Holiday breakfast is not the same without sausages

We were on the breakaway last spring and I am not allowed to eat pork and on a no-salt diet (medical dietary restrictions ) I called the access desk and they made arrangement that I get the proper food

  4. Why do you cruise? Do you cruise to have gourmet dining? Do you cruise to have an unlimited amount of food available to you whenever wherever? Do you cruise to be at sea.... afloat on a vast ocean for days , sunrise and sunset?

I cruise to experience the sea! So peaceful, tranquil, beautiful. I don't cruise for lobster tails, filet mignon, buffets unlimited. I know others cruise for value, etc. Just curious.

    What about you?

    I go on vacation

  5. Ok so I will start off by saying I'm new to cruising. That being said I will continue in to a two part question.

First I will be sailing on the ncl escape feb11 and I had gotten a balcony room so I received a drinking package and a restaurant package. With the restaurant package do I have to pay any additional charges or is it just the cover charge or is there a price per plate? Thank you

Second question is I'm planning a destination wedding for 2018 so I have plenty of time. How often does a ship change its ports of call and what reasons would they. I was thinking of doing the breakaway to the Bahamas but I don't want to miss my wedding day if they for some reason change the course. Thanks guys

  6. Does the UDP cover all food items at specialty restaurants, or are there exclusions that you have to pay for on top? Are there limits in how many items you can order without paying extra? I'm not looking to waste a bunch of food, just wondering if we're each limited to just one appetizer/entree/dessert? It's been so long since I've sailed I can't even remember if you can normally order a second entree at the specialties, and last time we sailed the specialties were still a flat charge.

  8. Yes original booking was before it was raised, but thought it had to be pre-paid a while ago, or at least before final payment to get the rate grandfathered. There's actually nothing I can find on ANY of my documents saying $13.50 will be charged onboard.

    https://www.ncl.com/ca/en/faq#service-charge

At what point in the booking process can the prepaid charges be added?

They can be added at anytime up to 24 hours prior to sailing.

How much are the service charges:

    • $13.50 USD per person per day for guests staying in Studio, Inside, Oceanview, Balcony and Mini-Suite categories

    • $15.50 USD per person per day for guests staying in Suite and The Haven categories

    • Guests sailing to Hawaii will be charged an additional 4.275% Pre Paid Service Charge GET Tax

(This will be automatically added to your onboard account)

    5pm update

Hurricane Nicole is continuing farther out into the Atlantic, with the National Hurricane Centre at 3pm putting its eye 90 miles northeast of the island.

Nicole has caused serious damage to the island’s infrastructure, causing walls and roads to collapse, tearing roofs off buildings, ripping up trees, smashing boats against rocks and flooding numerous homes and roads.

Walls are said to be damaged along the Causeway, which is being assessed.

Flooding victims included Victor Scott Primary School, while Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club’s structure suffered extensive damage. Residents near Elbow Beach report a significant outflow from a broken pipe. Other details of damage are coming through to us this afternoon as residents emerge cautiously from their homes.

Looks like Ncl made the right decision regarding Breakaway itinenary

  10. A lot of people posting in this thread seem to be caught up in whether or not the OP tipping an extra dollar was appropriate or not. Frankly that is not the point.

The point is the amount that was charged to their account was not the amount they had signed for. They went to guest services and brought it to their attention and they did not fix the error. That is WRONG.

Had the OP left a $10 tip and their account was charged $100 would everyone be more understanding of the issue?

I do think that in all likelihood it was an honest mistake and regardless if anyone thinks a $1 extra tip is appropriate or not, once an accounting error is brought to the attention of guest services it is their responsibility to fix the problem. They did not do this.

From personal experience there has been far too much of this happening on NCL lately and they need to correct this problem.

    Rochelle

    I agree with Rochelle ,

I wonder if the OP would have written

On my last cruise, I had an unpleasant situation at a specialty restaurant. I had the SDP, with prepaid tips, but I decided to add an extra tip to the bill, having received great service. So I clearly wrote "xx$" on the extra tip line. My account then showed a xx.xx$ charge at that restaurant. I went to customer service to mention the mistake and all they could do was "leave a note for the specialty restaurant". It never got corrected. I don't like to waste time on these unpleasant things during a cruise, so I let it go, just making sure I never extra-tip that specific waitress again.

I'm not sure if this is a common scheme from the restaurant staff or if this is just an honest mistake, but I learned from that and I started writing my extra tips with words and letters, just to make sure I don't open up the opportunity for the same situation ever again. Now I clearly write "xxx" on the extra tip line, with lines before and after, just like I would on a check.

So my tip for safely tipping extra is just this : Write everything in words, not in numbers. This will greatly reduce the opportunity for a hard-to-correct unpleasant mistake to show up on your account.

What kind of response we would be getting on this thread?

  16. The thermal suite is the spa area with saunas, steam rooms, hydro therapy pools/jacuzzis and relaxation areas with hot stone loungers

A spa balcony room is a regular balcony room with thermal suite access

A spa minisuite is a regular mini suite room with thermal suite access

A spa havens is a havens room near the spa with a jacuzzi tub in the room.

Spa treatments are totally separate and not related. You do not get thermal suite access with spa treatments. You do not get spa treatments with thermal suite access.

Spa rooms are only on large ships. Large ships usually run about $200 for a thermal suite Pass for a week. Small ships run about $149 a week.

Thanks for the info , I was told a regular mini-suite has a bathtub and a regular shower and a mini-suite with spa has a shower stall with oversized waterfall shower and multiple body spray jets, no bathtub

    Is this correct

for a thermal suite pass $ 200.00 for a week is this per passenger , we are looking at the breakaway for 14 days in 2018

  17. what is the difference between thermal suite , spa and a mini suite spa ?

I know mini suite-spa gives you access to the thermal spa and the suite has a larger bathroom with oversized waterfall shower and multiple body spray jets,

Can you buy a seperate thermal package for 14 days cruise what is the cost and do you have to pay for spa treaments separately?
