  1. I read somewhere on these boards that using VeriFly for a cruise originating in Europe is useless. I'm curious if these means that VeriFly is not used in Europe, or does this mean that the employees in the terminal don't know about VeriFly?
  2. These are all good questions which I am curious about as well! Our cruise is out of Amsterdam, which means we are flying to Europe a couple of days after our (hopefully negative) test. We had Covid six weeks ago (both confirmed via a positive test), and are fully recovered. We have taken several home tests which now come up negative, however, we have not taken the HAL-required test. My plan is to get the "OK to travel, fully recovered" certificate on the same day we get tested just in case. Our primary care physician confirmed that we could test positive three months after having been infected, even though we are no longer symptomatic or carrying the active virus... Ugh!
  3. I have been given free play on our upcoming cruise and I have some questions for those familiar with the HAL casinos (no matter which ship). 1) Do you have to play all of your free play in one sitting? In other words, if I'm given $200 in free play and choose to play blackjack, can I play $100 one day and the other $100 another day? 2) The $6 blackjack (assuming this is still an option) has a side bet known as Royal Match. What is the payout for this? If I recall correctly, it's two to one for any matching suit, and 25 to one for a Royal Match (king and queen of hearts), along with other payouts depending on the combinations. Is this correct? 3) Can I share my free play chips with my husband? Thanks in advance for any information!
  4. Try sending an email to reservation_accounting at hollandamerica.com. They answered me after a couple of days regarding a refund I had been waiting on... Perhaps they can get you a status on your issue.
  5. I consider myself rather teck saavy and this app is the buggiest app I have seen in quite some time! So far, I have "canceled" and re-added our cruise no less than three times. I was successful (initially) in adding our vaccination records, and received an approval message for both via email. After about a month, I received a message that there was something wrong with my vaccination record. I looked into how to fix this problem, and found nothing, including no way to re-upload my vaccination record. I "canceled" our trip one more time and re-added it. Since then, we received our second boosters and I wanted to upload our updated vaccination information -- which, apparently, is not something you can do. After canceling and re-adding our trip, there is no link available to upload our vaccination information. Ugh!!! I have sent emails to their support team, whose only response is to cancel the trip and start all over -- something that clearly doesn't work! Note that I am using an Apple iPhone for all of this (in case that makes a difference). I will continue to be persistent until I can get this thing working! LOL Good luck!
  6. We are flying into Amsterdam for our July 31 cruise. We purchased our flights through FlightEase... I know that HAL will do whatever they can to get us to our ship if we run into flight issues, however, what about our luggage -- if they get lost or are late arriving -- does HAL take care of getting our luggage to us on the ship? We fly into Amsterdam the morning of our cruise...
  7. I wear my bathing suit to the spa with a cover-up, go directly to the thermal pool, and sit in the thermal pool area for a short while to somewhat "dry off," then proceed to the loungers. After enjoying the loungers, sit in one of the steam showers for a short while (very short while), then enjoy a shower in the lounger area (they provide the same toiletries in the shower as available in our cabin). I towel off rather well, put my cover up back on, and proceed back to my cabin for a real shower and to get ready for whatever is on my agenda next... My husband, on the other hand, showers in the locker room, puts on his clothes, and carries his swimming trunks back to the cabin for future use... This works for us as we can both get ready at the same time without the need to wait for the shower... 🙂
  8. The sauna and steam rooms are coed. There are also showers available in the thermalspa area, as well as in the locker rooms.
  9. We changed our flights in FlightEase and waited one month for the refund of our original airfare ($2,300+)... I called, and called some more, and finally emailed their accounting department who confirmed that the refund was in the que to be processed... It finally arrived one month later.
  10. The additional departure time for this shore excursion finally got posted yesterday, 6/27, and available to be booked, four days after I received the email telling me to hurry up and book it as availability is limited. I was able to book the excursion for both of us -- my last shore excursion for our 7/31 Rotterdam cruise.
  11. Also steam rooms are available -- some with aromatherapy...
  12. This is the information regarding how to book a transfer...I hope this helps: If you have not purchased a transfer through Holland America Line, one may be purchased for the day of embarkation/disembarkation (please include your final flight into the city of embarkation and the first flight out for disembarkation). Please have your travel advisor call Holland America Line at 1-877-724-5425 or 1-206-286-3900 with your Holland America Line six-digit confirmation number and flight itinerary (airline carrier, flight number, departure dates and times). Transfer reservations must be made and paid for at least 14 days prior to your sailing date. If you have purchased transfer service or pre-packages through Holland America Line, please refer to your itinerary for specific instructions.
  13. There was no Couples Pass offered -- only individual passes... On our previous cruise, we were able to purchase a Couples Pass. Based on information from other passengers, the Couples Pass is no longer an option.
  14. We were waitlisted on an Edinburgh shore excursion for our July 31st cruise. I received an email from HAL this past Thursday (June 23) that they have added a second departure time for this shore excursion and we were removed from the waitlist. This new departure time is not yet available to book...the original shore excursion still shows sold out. I called HAL on Friday and they said this new departure time should be available to book by the end of the day on Friday. Here it is, Sunday, and the new departure time still has not shown up to be booked. Has anyone run into this situation and, if yes, how long before the shore excursion was finally available to book?
  15. Based on my research, if you book a suite, you are given two Mariner credits per day. We have a Vista Suite booked on our upcoming Rotterdam cruise. We booked this suite using a casino offer, which gave us a very nice discount off of the posted fare. Should we expect the same Mariner credits -- two credits per day, or not due to the fact that this was booked using a casino offer?
  16. We are sailing on the July 31st Rotterdam cruise out of Amsterdam. I'll post an update when we return (August 14).
  17. I just rechecked the price for the Thermalsuite on our upcoming Rotterdam cruise -- and it has doubled since I purchased our passes several weeks ago at half the price listed today on their website ($149 vs. $299). The current listing shows that the pass is for 14 days -- the original listing showed the pass was for 7 days -- both, however, say the pass is good for the duration of the cruise. Hmmmm... Wondering what to expect when we visit the Spa on day one to get our passes.
  18. Thank you to all who replied! I found the information on the HAl website after posting here. I then realized that, even though I knew I had Corona (my husband tested positive and I tested negative at the time), I needed to get tested again in order to have an official record of a positive test. I took care of that this morning. Now, we just need to hope for negative test results prior to our cruise so that we don't need to jump through hoops in order to get on the ship. Ugh!!
  19. Both my husband and I are recovering from Covid (no serious complications -- just cold-like symptoms). We are booked on the July 31 Rotterdam cruise out of Amsterdam. We asked our doctor when can we re-test to show a negative result. His answer -- you could test positive for up to three months. So, now what?!? We need to show a negative test result from three days before we set sail -- July 28 -- 6 weeks from today... Has anyone run into this situation? Just one more thing for me to worry about!
  20. I was also surprised to see the HAL ad on TV!
  21. You are fortunate in getting your refund so quickly! We've been waiting on a refund for our airfare for over one month...we changed flights and are expecting a full refund of our original airfare. I called just this morning asking for a status and was told that the refund is in the que to be processed...
  22. I am so glad I read this!!! The "fine print" does, in fact, state that this pass is for the entire duration of the cruise... Yeah!!! I have been watching the price of the Thermal Suite pass since we booked our 14 day Rotterdam cruise, waiting to see if they ever added a Couple's pass. Just bought this for both of us and printed the "details" in case there is a dispute when checking in at the Spa. Thanks to all of you posting in this thread!!!
  23. Try using "Chat" on their website... I have been able to get through via Chat much faster than on the phone.
  24. Quick question --is the water in the hot tubs "hot" on the Rotterdam? I'm contemplating whether or not to buy the pass for the thermalpool... We are cruising on the July 31 Rotterdam cruise out of Amsterdam. The warmest day of that cruise is day 1 and day 15...the remainder average in the 50s (F)... Thanks for any replay!
