  1. Could you provide a little insight on the people in your party with the aft penthouse? Did they find themselves just hanging in the Haven more? Did they suggest that they would rather have stayed in the Haven-adjacent area?

We currently have aft penthouses, but thinking it might be best for me to change that quickly...

    Thanks

    New poster (hi everyone)

    Aurelius

LOL_ I was going to ask the Exact same thing- (not about changing :D but what the other folks thought of it) My DH and Love the Aft PH suite (we will be on the getaway next year) -The past couple of years, we spent in the Epic Aft PH suite-- we never had issues with the walk and enjoyed seeing the other areas of the ship. The getaway aft PH suites are VERY different than the Epic and I cannot wait to see and experience that Balcony!!

Anyways, Thanks Michelle for another great review and pictures!

  2. Thanks so much- sailing in Aug on the Breakaway in a Haven spa suite (afts were fully booked) and in Late Feb, 2015 in AFT PH on the getaway. Can't wait.

Like you I was booked in a B1 Aft But bugged my DH so much about everything I would be missing - we decided to upgrade and talked our friends into it as well. I will miss the aft view though on the BA. :(

  3. Read everything on this thread about corkage fees. Would like to know when you pay the corkage fee. Do you pay when you are given the sticker?? Or is it added to your bill??

When you go through security- they will note that you have wine and send you to the desk to get stickers and pay- you don't really pay at that moment- it is added to your onboard account- Be careful- I was reviewing my charges on the tv and saw something I didn't think was mine. I then spent about 15 -20 min in line at guest services because I had a 45.00 charge from manhatten (I think) never went there so was questioning the charge- It was the corkage fee!! - it is not identified on the bill as corkage...:D

Enjoy your trip and your WINE;)

  4. Just a heads up for you - cabin 14140 also has the pole in front of the jacuzzi and the drain pipes are all visable on the port side. Also, right across the hall from this cabin is the crew/service elevators. We heard the doors slamming a few times - but it wasn't that big of a deal for us. If these are issues for you....you may want to see if you can change to starboard. ;)

I saw some videos of 14136 and 14128 and no pole. Only picture I have seen with pole is 14130? I am staying in 14140 and friends are staying in 14142 - I don't believe there is a pole in either cabin- I will let you know for sure after my cruise in Aug

  5. On the ship, 30 bucks will get you a eight dollar bottle of wine.

A 30$ bottle will likely cost you 75 bucks.

The corkage fee is worth it.

Agree- we usually bring a few bottles of Jordan cabernet- costs us 45.00 (sometimes less if we find a good sale) + 15.00 corkage = 60.00 - the bottle on board is 96.00 - saving 36. a bottle by bringing on board.

On the other hand - during the day- I love St Michelle Riesling- i can get it for 8.00 + 15. corkage= 23 - NCL has it for 29. I rather pay the extra 6 and carry more Jordan:D

  6. Harriet, you wrote "What you do is stick your room card or your CAS card which is preferred, into the machine. You must get a PIN from the manager. You then punch in you want money from your room and enter your pin then enter how much you want. That money goes to your CAS card in which you then enter your pin again and punch in the amount of money you want on that particular machine."

Is there a service charge for taking money on a room charge to use in slot machines?

OH boy- if my DH learns about this I will be in trouble

  7. I see you are sailing in 9 days. ENJOY. Please come back and let us know what you thought about the aft balcony. Like you I have sailed aft PentHouses and Loved it. We will be sailing the Getaway next feb and staying in 12304 - the Aft PH. In August, we are sailing with friends on the Breakaway - They have children in college as well --so the AFT PH was a bit pricey so we both got AFT balconies. Looking forward to it and hope we don't miss the Haven too much

  8. Before booking our cabin, I had done some searching as well and I found some really nice pics of 11310 (not the same cabin but same category and deck)

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1838632&page=3 - post 43 +

I did book 11910 in august and friends of ours are in 11912. Judging by the pics- we should be very happy. Happy Anniversary - enjoy!

Please come back after your cruise and let us know what you thought!

  9. I don't see why not. We never asked - we had 4 chairs and a large table out there. There is definitely room - we just didn't need it, otherwise we would have asked. Edited - we had happy hour out there every day with family, before heading to the Sunset Bar for another happy hour :-)

I Like the way you think! ;)

  10. What am I missing here? I thought that after each March 31 you kept your level for the coming year (like Harrah's) and had between April thru March to maintain or exceed it.

So, if I ended March as Golden, I start out as Lucky on April 1st.

    Pat

    Hi Pat,

I thought the same and it depends. It seems you start at the level for which you earned points in the previous year. I was Hot from my March 2013 trip and I earned 13,900 points in March 2014 -Adding those together moved me to Golden during my March 2014 cruise. (FYI- My Casino card and drink card were upgraded at casino desk But did not receive any other perks) The evaluation period ended on March 31 so when I cruise in August since I only earned 13,900 points during the previous evalustion period, I will only be Hot and will need to earn another 1101 points to make Golden. Whatever points you earn in the prior calendar yr (mar - apr) determines your tier level/status for the next year.

So determine how many points you earned from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014 - if greater than 5001 and less than 15001 then Hot, if more than 15001 and less than 35001 then Golden and if greater than 35001 then VIP.

Robin in a prior post helped explain it to me . Thanks Robin for the explanation! Think I may understand it now! ;)
