  1. If HAL has to cancel my cruise because of tensions with China, I'll just take the deposit and book another cruise.
  2. I booked the Coral Triangle, Volcanoes and The Great Barrier Reef cruise back when I was on the Oosterdam in March. It had just been released.
  3. You will. 😁 If it's too much of a lift for you to get a new phone, you can always limp along on your cruise without the app. Right now it's more of a convenience than a necessity, but going forward, I see that changing.
  4. I realize we all have our own budgets and priorities. For those of you who have older phones that don't support the latest version of Navigator, for not a whole lot more than what you paid for your current phone, you can buy a new phone that's significantly better. My new phone is 5G and I can make phone calls and send texts over wifi. The tipping point for me was when my banking app would no longer work on my old phone. I would never put an app on my phone that I didn't get from the Google Play store.
  5. Thanks, Lisa. You just saved me $200+.
  6. @VMax1700, thank you. That's helpful information.
  7. I have a lot of OBC on my upcoming Alaskan cruise. Can I wait until I'm onboard to purchase the premium internet package? If so, where do I go to purchase it?
  8. I think $29 is a real steal. I'll keep that in mind.
  9. @Mary229, thanks for the clarification. I think I've got it. When I've looked at the HAL hotels they seem to be really expensive for a solo. I may have to take another look. In Amsterdam I stay at the Doubletree Centraal Station. I believe it's near the Movenpick.
  10. @Mary229, did you book your own flights using FE or did HAL arrange the whole package? I'm still confused when you say you booked it. Booked it on your own, thru a TA, or a PCC?
  11. A few months ago I had a devil of a time getting to Buenos Aires. I booked my own airfare. When I was telling someone on the cruise my tale of woe, they said if I had booked everything thru HAL they would have assisted me. I asked if she and her husband used Flight Ease. She said no, they booked thru HAL. So is Flight Ease the same as booking on your own, and booking thru HAL is something different? I'm an experienced cruiser, but have only recently started taking some of the more exotic and longer itineraries that require more complex arrangements. This is new territory for me.
  12. Yes. I've been upgraded from inside to obstructed outside.
  13. I had to buy a new phone. 😁 Other apps on my older Android no longer worked, so I took it as a sign that I needed to upgrade. I don't know how Navigator support can help if the older system doesn't support the newer version of the app.
  14. That's interesting. I recently took a 31 day cruise and the only place I signed a slip was in the spa. Having people sign those slips slows down service. 18% tip on each drink is sufficient, IMO.
  15. It's programmed into your room key that you give to the server. It's been a long time since I've signed a drink slip.
  16. It will have a lot more functionality once you get onboard and sign into your account. You will also use it to access the ship's wireless. I used it a lot on my recent South America cruise.
  17. @JoyMBee, you came to the right place for information and advice on river cruising. My first river cruise was Budapest to Passau on the Danube. Keep in mind that there's no ONE right itinerary or cruise line. Several could work for you depending on your interests, schedule, and budget. Pick one and go with it, then evaluate afterwards what you liked and didn't like. It's not too late to book something for this year.
  18. Gary did the Buenos Aires to Santiago itinerary, but his video can give someone a feel for the ship.
  19. Isn't Stanley Park in Vancouver? Are you perhaps thinking of Vondelpark?
  20. @NCTribeFan, glad it worked for you. If HAL would only provide these instructions on the app it would save a lot of customers a lot of grief and frustration. Now we know.
  21. I think there's a great deal of confusion on the part of the app developers as to the difference between Apple and Android. 😆 I still don't understand why I only have to go through these gyrations with Navigator app updates.
  22. @Turtles06, thank you for the clarification.
