1. Hi. I am new to this, but I am in 12904 on 5th April 2014 so will try to post pics if I can

Sent from my iPad using Forums

OK, We need pictures of the Penthouse! Would also like comments on motion, noise, and balcony privacy, the wall divider slants back and I saw gambee post pictures from the cabin next to 12904 on Breakaway showing the balcony of 12904 in his pics.

Tanya6570, will get pics also for you. February 2015 will be here before you know it, but lets enjoy summer first!! :D

  2. It's good to read all opinions. I don't think that anyone who has booked or will be booking will change their minds.

We sailed the Oasis this past January for the second time and I have to tell you the new smoking policy has caused issues. I am not a smoker, so now that you can't smoke on your balcony the port side of deck 16 and 15 is full of smokers, did not remember that on the first cruise and the casino you couldn't walk through. It became a smoking lounge even if you were not gambling! :(

Would that make me not sail on Oasis again, NO! I love the ship and all the positives it provides.

Thanks for the info on the aft, we have a Penthouse with large balcony 12th deck, hopefully the side corners are spared the smoke!:)

  3. Plus, if you have been using American Express for your deposit and any payments you will be eligible for extra Amex OBC for booking a Suite...

I now only use my Amex since they periodically offer extra OBC for using it. Not always, but worked this time!

Did you just pay with Amax and get the OBC or booked through AMAX. We were on Celebrity Reflection a year ago and paid everything with AMAX using my TA. We had a suite but read on CC a problem with it so contacted TA and X upgraded us to Aqua Suite and all the sudden $300 OBC showed up. Thought it was because of the suite issue. Was on Oasis last month paid all with AMAX with a suite and no OBC. We are Platinum card holders.

Did you call AMAX and ask for OBC?

  4. When in October? We are also booked on Getaway on 18th October 2014 in an S6 cabin - 12904.

Please post pictures or video, we sail in 12904 in January 2015 on Getaway! I understand the footprint is the same as Breakaway. Would really appreciate your thoughts. Have you seen any pics of the Penthouse yet?

  5. Does anyone have more information or pictures of the Norwegian Getaway I am booked in 12904 S6 cabin on Getaway and would like to see more of the room.

Tanya6570, when is your cruise? Would love to see if you can post some pics. I am not sailing until January 2015. I am sure there will be many in 12904 before that, it is so long away! :D

  6. 12304 was taken for an end of January 2015 cruise so I have 12904 on hold until Monday.

I would assume it must be the same set up just on the other side of the ship. Anybody have Pics or video of this suite or has stayed there and can comment?

By the way $300 of OBC for the cruise! I never book this far out, always in November for January but summer is coming and the days will go by. :p

    Any feedback appreciated!! :)

  7. Does anyone have more information or pictures of the Norwegian Getaway I am booked in 12904 S6 cabin on Getaway and would like to see more of the room.

Would also like to see Penthouse 12304. Looking to book this for our 2015 Jan/Feb cruise. Would consider 12904 on the other corner too. Pics and video please!!!! :D

  8. Sounds like Breakaway and Getaway Haven is the same. We are looking at the Getaway for our January 2015 sail.

Would someone define the size of the bottle of liqueur in an owners suite. Never sailed NCL always RCL and we purchase the UDP. On Celebrity we had two bottles put in our of course at a cost. Just wondering what bar set up means. Have to have libations! :D

Haven sounds like Heaven!!! :) Thanks to all in this thread for the fantastic information!!!!:p

  9. We were on the same cruise, and had an amazing time. Thanks to the Upsell Fairy we ended up in The Haven and enjoyed all the benefits there.

I have written a complete review and submitted it to Cruise Critic as a review of the Getaway (the short version: we loved it)!

Signing on to read the review! We are thinking of this ship for next January. Never sailed NCL always RCL so this will help in the decision.

Looking forward to the review by ehornick since we are looking at the Haven. :D

    Review on!

  10. Hello to all the NCL Cruisers!

Would love some help with a decision, should we try the Getaway? I know every cruise can be a fantastic cruise but we have never sailed NCL. Allure Oasis and other RCL ships but never NCL.

January is our cruise month and just off Oasis for the second time, looking for something new. We are considering Haven suites since we stay in suites on RCL.

From reading some of the threads there has been little in the way of reviews or comments. Any thoughts would be appreciated and from those RCL cruisers that have tried NCL.

Thanks in advance for the feedback! :)

  11.
Thanks to niksmom for the nice reports, photos, and insights on this great cruise.

We'll use a few of the tidbits on the same cruise coming up in 36 days. WOO HOO!

As a side note...we have every intention of relaxing on this cruise. That also means we're going to take our time getting off the ship, NOT schlep all our bags off in the early hours of the morning, and NOT be in a big hurry to the airport immediately after such a relaxing experience.

We'll likely disembark about 10-10:30am, wait for our luggage, hop somewhere for a relaxing brunch, and then mosey on over to the airport for an afternoon flight. All the rush-rush immediately after such a nice cruise would seem to take away from the overall experience and calming value.

It's understandable that some folks can't do this based on the distance they need to fly home...but if they have the time...it might be worth considering easing the way back into civilization rather that sprint back into the hectic world. In our case...this approach has made cruising even more enjoyable. :)
Why not use the valet service and let RCL handle the bags to your plane. Have used it twice and boy what a difference!!! :) You see your bags for the last time the last night and then at your home airport! Just walk off with your carry on bags. :p They also provide your boarding pass. That is if your airlines participates.

For $20 per person it is all worth it! :D
  12.
In general, I don't care for the production shows. However, my brother in law and sister in law went to several of the shows, and enjoyed them. The only one I attended on Indy was the Ice Show. I found the entertainment on Allure to be far superior to other ships.

As far as the casino, yes--it is smoky. But having been on Allure where they have the smoking sections divided port and starboard sides, the smoking section in the casino on Indy was split forward and aft. This seemed to help, especially if you were in the section most aft.
Thanks for the feedback! Still thinking about booking. :)
  13. Hi, would like to know more about the Hilton Marina hotel. We are booked there on April 11 pre-Indy cruise and again on April 20th for one day post cruise. We have a tower room that overlooks the intracoastal. Are there other rooms that are not in a tower? We have requested an upgrade for early check in on Sunday the 20th but will not know until that morning if we can get it. Thanks.

Never get tiered of the Labadee pics! Only been there once but what a great place.

I have to chime in on the Hilton Marina. The location is great so close to the pier but I have to say I would not stay there again. I always stay at Pier 66 but after mrfuninthesun posted about the Marina I had to try it. We booked a Jr. Suite with the breakfast and transportation to the pier. Got to the hotel around one and the front desk said the room was not ready but would rush it for us. I had asked for a room on the port side. Went to G for lunch (Fish tacos great) and a few drinks.

Room was not ready until 4:30 was put on the backside corner room in the tower over looking the marina. There are no amenities, only an empty refrigerator, no bottle water to even purchase, no mini bar. Room service had about five items on it so you had to go downstairs to a little bar where you stand in line to order something. Very unorganized! There was an ice machine on the floor but no machines with soda or water.

Went down the next morning for coffee and a large was $5, I don't usually pay that much for coffee (not a Starbucks guy), but I could not believe I had two coffees ( one for DW) for $10 plus tax.

Breakfast that morning was a buffet, the usual selection so nothing to crow about. The service was good however.

Blew off the transportation, was too many people and again not very well organized. Holland America had a rep there and that was about it. Grabbed a cab to the ship.

I would say if you are looking for a clean place to lay your head and nothing more but location it would be a place to stay. Just not my type of hotel with what it offers.

    Back to Pier 66! :D

  14. Thanks for the feedback.

The cabins on the 8th deck would also be ocean balcony on the hump. Sorry I didn't mention that before.

Is 8th deck better than 12th deck for same type of cabin?

    Which will be nosier?

    Thank you

The 8th floor is very quite, there was no noise from Central Park at all. I think it was very convenient. Was nice to listen to the music in the park after dinner when we had no show and just walk back (on the same floor) to the cabin.

Also if you have a dinner reservation you have more time to get ready because you don't have to deal with elevators! :D

  15. Was on Oasis January 25th 2014 sailing and stayed on the 8th floor. Had a Jr. Suite and I would say if you are going to use the specialty restaurants I would stay on the 8th floor. We never eat in the MDR.

We have in past sailings stayed high up but always see what is above you. 12th is fine but below pool deck can get noisy.

We liked being able to be on the same deck as the restaurants and also we had the Premium beverage package so on the way back to the cabin at the end of the day sunning, we stopped at the bar in Central Park for a drink to take back and get ready for dinner.

Just thought the 8th floor was quite and very convenient.

    Hope that helps.

  16. Just came off of Oasis, they have the same offerings since we have sailed Allure also. We book ahead of time since we want the times we want for the shows we want to see. However, once you get onboard if you have not prepaid you can buy the dinning package which will cost you less.

If you are not anal like me on times it is a great deal.

The Chefs table is a must! we so enjoyed the food and wine ( they poor a great glass of wine!). As for the length, what;s the hurry! talk to the people and learn from those around you about where they are from. It s a social event. :D

  18. Well, I can finally get back onto CC! Here is my live report, one day later....

Don't see anything posted, somehow my post from yesterday is gone so I screwed up!:p

I was asking since you have been on Allure and not to compare apples to apples, but how is INDY for entertainment/ you do what we do Jr Suite and beverage package, but we also like specialty dinning and a good show at night.

Congrats on your winnings. Just came off Oasis on Feb 1st and found with the new smoking policy the Casino very smokey. How is yours? I believe you smoke so it may not be an issue for you. :)

We are planning on booking INDY next January, been on AOS so same class but I believe INDY is bigger.

Thanks! Enjoy the sun, Noreastern hitting us with 14 inches of snow today!!

  19. We just came off Oasis on January 25th.

We were introduced to the drink packages last year on X Reflections. As I said after that cruise is that it is a no brainier!

It it hassle free, just hand a card and get them back. You get $10 per drink which covers every specialty drink and the drink of the day.

Having some Gin (Bombay) and tonics, l(Ask for large glasses for the ice) per day, some wine at dinner. (up to $12). We were on the Central Park level so on the way back to the room to get ready for dinner picked up a scotch and wine to sip while in the room. Sometimes going back for a second. :D You also get bottles of water (not Avian but bottled water while on the deck. We has a suite and the water in the room was $5 per bottle. Drink gets a little watered down get another.

Never was drunk nor woke up with a head, but enjoyed the ease and accessibility.

I have read where people say the waiters drag their feet when you order but never experienced that. Also we always had our loungers near the the Sky Bar so Michael and Rafael took good care of us.

You won't go wrong! Let me know if you have any other questions. ;)
