  1. I know that a lot of people have touched on this but I feel like this RCI all-inclusive package is misleading compared to Celebrity version for approximately the same price. We always get the package on Celebrity and feel like it really makes the trip feel all-inclusive with the fancy coffees, fresh squeezed juice etc. and most importantly the long list of different wines by the glass. It was a pleasure to have San Pelligrino with dinner every night and ask the wine steward what wine he would recommend based on what we were ordering. Such a limited wine selection is disappointing. I am however going to do the soda package because a) diet coke for breakfast is a must and b) I'm excited about the freestyle machines.

I have to agree, we purchased the premium package on Reflection last January and thinking about it on Oasis this January. My issue is that the drink max is $10 and on Celebrity was $12. That brings in more wines at dinner and we always asked for a double scotch since the poors are so small  Always covered in full!! :)

I had asked on one of the live from Oasis threads what a double scotch went for and no answer, even though the OP said ask anything and I will get an answer. Anyway I believe on Celebrity the double was $12 and covered. Here no. The DW and I both purchase the package but if I am paying $4 every time, that is a pain. Not being cheap, but hate getting nickeled and dimmed. :p

  2. Took friends of ours on Adventure of the Seas out of PR. First time they had ever cruised. My wife and I were in an Grand Suite and the other two couples took Jr Suites.

First night sitting at the table in the MDR ( was next to to the Captains table) a person walked up and just asked if we would like to dine with the Captain on Captains night! My friends looked at me and thought I had set this up.

Next day there is an invite in each of our cabins, they still think I set it up, but had nothing to do with it.

We met "Our handler" in one of the bars, they bought us drinks, and then took us to dinner. The Ships Ambassador joined us. There were D+ people at the table and when they found out that it was my friends first cruise and was invited they couldn't stop asking how they got to the table. They wanted to know who we were!! They had never been invited!! :D

Since my friend's company builds parts for boats, the Captain invited us to the Bridge the day we left St Martin to help set sail. These people were going crazy! ;) What a great time!!

It happened to my wife and I again when we sailed on Oasis (2011), we actually missed our show Hairspray! We just got a phone call. We are selling Oasis on January 25th 2014 again to see the show. Not looking to sit with the Captain.:p

  3. Congratulations on Diamond Status! We sail on Oasis January 25th 2014 and this puts us in Diamond status which is big deal!!! :)

I remember when we got our Emerald pins, I call the pins KMA pins, Kiss my ***! That is what they should do with the amount of money that we all have spent and stayed loyal to RCL!!;)

Our second trip on Oasis (last 2011), glad to hear she still dresses up well. We are on the 8th floor and looking forward to being near Cental Park, especially near Park Cafe and those great beef sandwiches!!:D

  4. I am onboard! Not actually onboard the ship but onboard for a week of posts!!:)

Leaving on Oasis January 25th, these live post get you through the waiting. Enjoyed MrFunInThe Sun when he posted from Allure.

Did the western Allure trip two years ago and enjoyed it. Just watch the last day at sea when you get in the upper part of the trip. Cold front dipped down and we spent the day in the fantastic solarium staying warm.

    Bon voyage!!!!!:p

  5. I'm actually in the solarium right now sitting at the bar drinking Mai tais.

Ok, so I did more research. Red bulls ARE included. The specialty shakes in the vitality spa are NOT.

Also, there is no limit as we were on the island in Haiti yesterday and I probably had 20 or so drinks over the course of the entire day and night. However, i do regret that decision and will be going much easier for the rest of the voyage. :)))

    After dinner shots are included.

The coffee is settles best coffee and is included.

Ive said his before and I will reiterate, my favorite part of this package is that I just don't have to worry about anything. I hand them my card and they hand it back. Nothing to sign, no sticker shock or uncomfortable tip calculations. It's just all taken care of.

Were you able to ask if you order a double Red Label Scotch it would be covered?

Thanks! Love the Solarium!! It helped when we were on the Western route and as we made our way back to Ft Lauderdale the cold front dipped down and the last day was chilly, Solarium helped big time!:D Not to mention the cocktails!!!!:p

  6. if anyone has requests I can ask the bartenders here on board if any given drink or liquor is included.

Thanks for the help, we were on Reflection last January and had the premium package. We would ask for a double Red Label Scotch and it was covered. We had a $12 max on drinks and I understand the premium on Oasis is $10. Would you ask if a double would be covered? The single poor is so small. May have to purchase ultimate package if it is covered there.

We sail Oasis for the second time January 25, 2014 :)

  7. Greetings Cruise Critics, I may not get to post much while onboard due to slow tablet and internet speeds, however, expect a fairly detailed and (at least upon my return) picture-laden blog and review of my cruise which starts in just a few hours!

Right now I am in a port view room at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, watching the amazing pre-dawn dance of the giant cruise ships. So far I have seen X and Princess sail in, turn in a perfect circle and back into the dock; Oasis is waiting in the wings... (or perhaps already docked on the far side of the terminal... ships seem to be "parked" facing in all directions... I count 7 ships right now all together.

Off for a morning run before I sign up for my 11am cruise transport (must line up at 9am)... then a little more relaxing at the hotel before I'm off on my first cruise on OASIS (though as you can see I've done a few other cruises in the past:)

    More soon...

Can you see the ships from the Hilton? Our first time staying there. Always used Pier 66. We have an inter coastal suite. Sailing Oasis 1/25/2013!! :)

  8. Yes you can use your gold card for Starbucks. They can't scan the iPhone app but can punch in your number if you have it. Much easier to bring the card.

Haven't been to the CL yet, but they are using Dazzles for suite/D+/Pinnacle happy hour.

Tomorrow in Labadee I'm planning on spending the day at Barefoot Beach. Don't have any plans for Falmouth. Might just enjoy the ship. Cozumel I'm planning on going to Nachi.

First time I've used the suites sun deck. Comfy chairs & I like how they bring around cold washclothes/fruit etc.

Quick question, we are sailing for the second time on Oasis 1/25/13 and have a JR Suite. Is the suite deck just for GS and higher? Have had the GS in the past but never used the suite deck. When following MrFunInTheSun he was able to visit the deck with a suite guest. Thanks!

  9. Thank you. Glad you enjoyed sailing along.

I really liked the Hilton Marina. I'd actually consider going there for a weekend stay sometime. :-)

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - Please excuse any errors.

Staying at the Hilton first time in January before Oasis cruise, thanks to the live post and finding out about it. I like the package of room, breakfast, transportation to the ship! :) We usually stay at Pier 66 but not over whelmed with it. Great restaurant next door on the water but can get to it from the Hilton.

  10. Saw your ship in dock this morning, I know it is a sad day but one full of great memories!!! :) Thanks for taking us along with you this week. It made one more week go by fast for our Oasis cruise in January. Spent yesterday putting up a Christmas tree at our golf club while you baked in the sun and had plenty of libations!!!

On to your next adventure, tell Andy we enjoyed his adventure. Did he take any of the towel animals home with him? ;)

I think maureencruiser is looking for a date on her next cruise, send Andy over!!

    Thanks again.

  11. Thanks Barb, I'm really thinking about getting the package. Always handing over your card to have them charge a drink while at a show gets old. Just not sure I want to do that on a 12 night cruise. Howeverrrr there are more sea days involved :D.

    Great job as always Chris.

The package is the greatest! If you drink on the rocks drinks the poor is like the little bottles you get on a plane. Ask for a double and you have a real drink under the price limit. If your drink gets watered down get another!! :o

You still have to hand the cards over because the waiter has to run it through for the tracking of sales, still not an issue since you don't have to sign.

By the way remember you get non alcohol drinks too. When we are poolside we get bottles of Evian to keep us hydrated! A glass ( or two) of wine at dinner is nice too. :) Taking a drink back to the room while getting dressed for the night is a treat. Our cabin this time is on the 8th deck Central Park and the bar outside the Park Cafe is handy on the way back. ;)

    Well worth the $$$$$$

  12. LOVING post threads! Andy is the MAN! I need a travel buddy like this party animal!!! Enjoying all the reports, as said in the other thread, we all that are enjoying should make a donation to the WiFi bill!!!

Are all the drinks being enjoyed coming from the Premier Beverage package? Hd that on Celebrity Reflection this year, no other way to travel!!

Can't wait for our Oasis sail this January 25th, 2014, did Allure in 2012 and was over the top! :)

Keep enjoying and keep it coming!!!!! 32 degrees here today

  13. Thanks for the feedback, never herd of Vantage but will look into. Glad to hear that Viking did a great job, I have had a lot of my neighbors take a river cruise and have not heard any bad news. Always like to hear from my cruise critic friends! I know we are at the mercy of the rivers water height not like on an ocean cruise.

More research needed but I am sure I need to book soon before they sale out!! :o

  14. Looking for the South of France in early summer 2014. This would be our first river cruise, have done many ocean cruises.

Avalon looks sold out and that is who we would of liked but Viking has availability. Would anyone have thoughts on Viking and have done the route? I know I will have many other questions  but just would like to connect with those that have done the cruise and give thoughts.

    Thanks in advance!
