  1. I have to send my best wishes to all of you trying to stop smoking. I never smoked in my life and as a swimmer in college had a collapsed lung and know what it is not to breath well. A heart attack is another thing!
But I wish you luck also because of the new policy on RCL ships. Just off the Oasis and the port side 16th and 15th deck side is dedicated to smokers! Never remember that the first time we cruised on her.

The amount of loungers was reduced one day when it was so windy on the 16th deck, people were forced down to the 15th deck and with the smokers on the port side it left very few loungers for the nonsmokers. Also on days when we sailed back to Ft Lauderdale the sunset was on the port side and wanting to take pictures you had to fight the smokers. Having allergies it made it very uncomfortable.

As for the casino. I love to spend some time playing blackjack a couple of nights while cruising, but the casino has turned into a smoking lounge. I met one cruiser who said his cabin was close enough to the casino that if he wanted to smoke he just goes to the casino! My wife and I actually took a floor higher to get past the casino to shows because just walking through it was unbearable. :(
We all have habits but when it effects other people as much as smoking does there needs to be some consideration for those around you. I am glad to hear today that CVS is not selling tobacco products starting in October. A loss of a billion dollars a year but they are making the move. :) Look, I like my Scotch but it doesn't effect other people. :D

With all that said it was our second time on Oasis and she is as beautiful as the first time we sailed her in 2011. Shows, crew, specialty dinning and everything else fantastic! The chefs table was worth very dime and would recommend it to anyone!!
  2. What you get from the TA depends on each individual TA. Some of the things they can give you are on board credit, gratuities, insurance, spa coupons, specialty restaurant coupons, etc. They are supposed to charge the same prices for the cruise as you would pay booking direct with Royal. However sometimes they have been allocated some staterooms when prices were lower, and you can get a better deal than what is shown on Royal's website.

We booked our Oasis cruise through our TA, which we have known for 15 years. She provided $200 of on board credit and paid for two of our specialty dinners. We were upgraded 3 times in the past and I know she had something to do with it. If they work their regional RCL reps they can make things happen.

To me it's about the relationship you build with the TA.

  3. We are Diamond also and last year sailed on the Reflection, love the class of ship. We are leaving next weekend on Oasis for the second time. With that said though we are thinking of NCL for next year. Something new until the Oasis 3 comes out. The loyal program is good but can be over rated for what it is. :)

Can't wait to hear your review when you get back! :D

  4. Glad you are doing Eastern, we have done both and find that if a cold front comes down, which it did on our cruise, the day back from Cozumel to Ft Lauderdale can be cold. Eastern is warm and you get basically 3 and a half days a sea to enjoy the ship.

Like your attitude about the condition of your ship. They wear over time, so do I!:D

It is all about having fun and seeing new places! :) Hope Walt starts feeling better, nothing worse than feeling bad in the caribbean!! :p

Enjoy Grenada, trying to pull up the web cam so I can see the ship. Have been there and the people are fantastic.

  5. Congratulations on your booking of Oasis!!! :)

You are going to LOVE her! We are on her January 25th, 2014 for the second time. Have sailed many RCC ships but Oasis kills it!! Is it western or eastern? You will want to do it again since you can't get it all in the first time.

Thanks for posting, going to watch you guys come into Aruba this morning, weather looks great there right now.

Have a great day. Put that suntan lotion on, seeing my dermatologist this morning. :p

  6. I swear I am like a 5 year old on Christmas morning. I couldn't sleep anymore due to the excitement and decided to hang out on our balcony and watch the Legend sail in. SHE'S HERE!!! I will definitely be hitting the gym this morning to work off some of this extra energy.

I will post from the ship this afternoon. :D

    Lisa

See her on the webcam, may pick up the sail away from the office!

    Safe Sails!

  7. I have to say that we have had the Grand Suite and Jr Suite on RCI cruises and the Jr Suite (in the class of suites) is always treated like second class citizens when it comes to suites and the amenities.

I am not saying Jr suite should be given the same as other suites but they need to do bit more. I love the space, always enjoyable but other than a special line to check in at there should be a bit more IMO! :D

  8. Welcome to the RCL Family! Happy New Year!

We have sailed on Allure and Oasis, we are sailing Oasis again on January 25 2014. You will not be disappointed with the ship. It is not crowded, plenty of room!

You book everything in advance and I would recommend booking the dinning ahead of time and forget the MDR. Spend a little you are on vacation. :p Central Park is fantastic. Plenty of activities . I would say if you are booking an inside room, book over looking Central Park. Much quitter then the Boardwalk area. You can open your slider at night and listen to the music.

The ship will spoil you for any other ship! We never get off since we have been to the islands a ton of times. You won't get everything in during 7 days. The shows are fantastic. Crew, activities the best.

Read the live threads of Allure and Oasis that are posted. They will give you a good feel. Also youtube videos will give you a feel.

You won't go wrong!!! ;) Happy sailing.

  9. No. They dont reschedule the Super Bowl:D:D

    LOL!!!!! :D

Been on Two RC sailings for the Super Bowl and it was fantastic, especially if your team is participating. Will be getting off the Oasis the day before the game so won't be able to watch my EAGLES play!!! :D:D

    That is who it is!!

  10. What we had on the Oasis in October and what my sister got on the Brilliance in November sounded very similar, several dishes exactly the same. So, I think they are more alike then different....or maybe it might be seasonal.

Putting that aside, Chef's Table was one of the most remarkable dining experiences I have ever had. The food was delicious and company was great! We are doing a B2B on the Brilliance in May and will do it again, on both cruises! Can't wait!

BTW, ordering the Chef's Table dining package is very frugal, it's like buying 3 specialty restaurant dinners and getting one specialty restaurant dinner free. Way worth it!

We will be on the Oasis January 25th 2014 and siting at the chiefs tale. Glad to hear you have experienced it and say it was worth it. We book all specialty restaurants when we sail. This is our second time on Oasis but first time at a chiefs table. Will share experience when we return.

  11. Of watching the Eagles on our January 19th cruise?!:D:p

    Tara

    P. S. A girl can dream!:D

Your chances are 100%. Been on many cruises when the playoffs are on and have done a couple of Super Bowls. They show the games, bring your Eagle gear to wear.

Romo out Eagles in, :p I would book your Super Bowl cruise so you can watch them again!!! :D We sail on Oasis January 25th so I thought I would just book B2B to watch them play, but t least will be home in time of the game!!!

Go Eagles, from a Philly guy!!! :)

  12. Earlier this month I was on Royal Princess doing a B2B and on the second week we were docked next to Allure of the Seas. Here are a few pictures of her as she sailed away from St. Martin. I hope you enjoy them!

Thanks for sharing great pics, it amazes me how the Allure and Oasis look at night. Sailed on both and always feel like the big guy in town when we pull in to dock. :D

Was looking at the RP for our 2014 January cruise but decided to go back to Oasis Eastern cruise. TA was on RP for the weekend sail for TA's. She has been our TA and good friend for 15 years. She was not happy with RP. Knowing me and my wife she said not to take her. There is never a bad cruise, but if you have sailed Oasis class before would like your comments and comparison. We are detected RC cruises but have sailed Princess.

    Thanks!
