  1. Hi all - I was browsing the other day and pricing out the refundable vs non-refundable deposit options for Retreat class. Deposit is 900 and with the refundable deposit, it ups the price by 1398 for the sailing I was looking at. From what I can tell given current rules - the ONLY difference is if you cancel prior to final payment, you get your deposit back with the refundable deposit. They have the same fee schedule for cancellation prior to final payment. If you cancel prior to final payment with the non-refundable, you pay a $100 penalty/person then get the rest back in FCC. So you lose only $200 really unless you just don't plan on taking another cruise. Am I misunderstanding this???? I must be as there would really be no reason (to me) to pay $1200 more if the only difference is you lose $200 with non-refundable given that I would still most likely plan to take another cruise in the future. Can someone explain it better if I have misunderstood? Thanks!!
  2. Nope - also did not get a "thanks for registering" - it just took me straight into watching. I did take a screenshot of the screen at the end that said I had watched it.
  3. Possibly. You can ask to be added to a waitlist. Sometimes people cancel. If you are on a waitlist, and space opens, they start contacting people on the list. If you are in a suite - there is a good possibility. Ask the Retreat concierge, and they may be able to get you in. You can call now or when onboard.
  4. On the Apex, they told us not to count on all the pieces being in any game. So to be sure - bring your own.
  5. Practical? I think on the older ships, where the kids club is a small room - yes. They could easily convert the space to something else. On the newest ships - probably not so much. In terms of would people sail - I think yes, on the smaller ships. On the newer ones - I don't think they could fill them up in the summer months. Now if you are also asking is there a market for adults only - yes, I believe there is, but not for the entire fleet. Do they NEED to switch to adults only? Probably not. I've never seen that many kids on X. I have no issues with kids being around if they are well behaved. I also have no issue with adults being around, if they are well behaved. I would not care to sail on Carnival for many reasons, which do not include the kids onboard. I think the very few kids I have ever encountered on Celebrity have been well behaved - I think the parents probably realized the facilities for kids were limited and knew their kids would still enjoy the cruise / what was offered and chose that ship anyway. Some kids are OK to read, play cards, listen to music on their phone/tablet and others need to have a surf pool, zip line, run whatever. Parents can choose a cruise line to suit their child's activity level. Most of these lines also have some adult spaces (casino, bars, so they can do "kid" things with their child, drop them at camp, and still have both family and adult time). Those that want a more "adult" atmosphere - avoid those ships with lots of facilities geared for kids. Should not be a big issue. There's something for everyone.
  6. I booked a sky suite veranda guarantee cabin on the Flora. I actually prefer the veranda instead of infinite veranda, but could not find a sailing with the proper veranda available. But they did have guarantee option available. I know guarantee does not mean you WILL wind up in that room - but given this is the cheapest room on that ship - I figured why not try. I don't think there are "bad" rooms on this ship? I've never done a guarantee cabin - but I know that sometimes you wind up with obstructed view, less desirable location, etc. Given the small number of rooms on the ship anyway - there's not much option anyhow. Anyone with experience on this ship know if there are just some awful cabins in this category and I should really avoid doing this? I have the refundable option, so can move to a different sail date, or just go ahead and book the infinite veranda to avoid getting a horrible room location if that may be an issue. Thanks!
  7. Hello - has anyone sailed in an Aft sky suite on Apex (or perhaps Edge, which I believe is similar ship)? We are booked in one for a trans-Atlantic crossing. I could change to a regular sky suite, as I usually am in the mid-ship location. Never sailed in back of ship before. I am intrigued by being able to watch sunset from my balcony if I would like to. And also having the large balcony at the back of the ship. Any big reason to move????
