  1. I moved to US 27 years ago from the largest country in the world. We could travel to as many or more places inside which we did. However till that time we couldn’t travel abroad much. Some did, but it was not easy. It was a dream to travel… To have US passport (or opportunity to have it) and not to travel….. It costs only $10+ dollars per year.
  2. They did. However US is the only country where people don’t get passports in some weird reason. $100+ is really nothing … it’s a fraction of cruise cost and good for 10 years! Rules change. Some time back you could fly to Mexico or Canada, or Caribbeans without one, now you must have it. Why not spend this little for a peace of mind? Will you even remember about in several months?
  3. Right. Send Wonder to Bayonne, NJ for winters. Just kidding. Leave us Anthem with the best solarium ever. Wonder was meant for China.
  4. We had Lobster tails (in any quantities) on all ships this year on second formal nigh. Anthem, Adventure, Oasis, Enchantment. 7-12 days. Warm water lobsters of course. I heard that in future it will be just one, but New England lobster tail. I would take this change. Would prefer claws, but ...
  5. We go from time to time. Problem is very often they schedule it at 10-11 AM on the first sea day. I don’t want to change from pool clothes to something else to go.
  6. Passport is good for 10 (!!!) years… and you never know what will happen during those years. Our project manager who haven’t renewed passport since 90s suddenly had to go on business trip to Mexico. For money had to pay money to expedite passport … she could have 40 years worth of passports.
  7. I’m a naturalized citizen and of course I got my passport right away after becoming a citizen. And always have my passport. I read somewhere though that Naturalization certificate can work as Birth Certificate.
  8. Very nice review! I am enjoying it. We also used city bus and went all the way to Arashi beach. I do not see any problems using public transportation in another country. We have done it in many. As for not missing the ship, you just need to have a watch or phone, or both. And plan your day accordingly. Good thing I grew up with public transportation and had second shift in school from 9 yo to 11 yo... had activities before school which required to use a bus and trolleybus in the morning and still get back home and then walk to school.
  9. Different is big actually. At least if you are interested in. View especially in ports is great, even better than from real balcony depending on location. We almost never in our room, but difference is clear.
  10. It was pretty good on Thanksgiving. Not much different than last year. Beef Wellington returned. I wouldn’t order lamb whatever unless it’s Lamb shank. It used to be rack of Lamb, but now it’s some other tough part. Haven’t noticed other changes.
  11. Nah, that guy can sail on this cruise together with his federation. He matches poutine only in garbage nature, although poutine is tasty.
  12. Basic concept is very different than virtual balcony though. If we didn’t sail with VB 7 times and didn’t use this channel on most of other cruises (about 40 times insides) I’d agree more 🙂 Not sure about paying much for upgrade, but this is how it looks and feels. We enjoy them
  13. I see poutine in B&B menu. You can tell French Canadians frequent Anthem. 🙂
  14. Virtual balcony is very different from that channel. We like it a lot. Although we use it on Anthem all the time. Almost all if not all insides on Anthem have them by design. Not sure if they are different for VB on older ships.
  15. Exactly. People bid and get upgrades. No need to upgrade GTYs automatically
  16. Agree about room assignments ... because of Royal Up it is rare to get "upgraded" from GTY class. However money are still saved on GTY in comparisson to assined.
  17. Hi, Cruise Law News! How are you doing? Gathering information? 🤣 On a serious note, I do not believe it...
  18. Battered Fish and Seafood is always on Day 1. I see we still have old menus. Great! I see Beef Wellington again! It was absent for a good portion of this year. From my last several experiences this year, I recommend not taking a lamb chop(?). I don’t see it yet, but I’m sure it will be. Cuts are very strange
  19. From our previous experience WWRY was closer to the end, or at least closer to mid cruise. Gift was in the beginning, as well as SC.
  20. We do not buy refresh package, but we tell bartender which drinks to use as Diamond drinks. Of course they should be the most expensive.
  21. Offensive?! You are constantly misreading posts in some reason. You wrote "Just as an aside, I've never understood wanting to get off the ship ASAP, " I explained why people could want to disembark fast.
  22. I'll explain. We are now sailing 5 full cruises a year. Our retirement will not happen in about 15-17 years, so we are trying to maximize our vacations. I don't use cruise days as workdays anymore (I have enough now), but we do not take disembarkation days as vacation days. I work. Often while we driving home or from home if we get there fast enough. If it is a weekend I still like to get ASAP as it is not a quality time anyway. So we selfdebarkate.
  23. Which photos? Do you compare Grills or overall. We are D+ with RCI and sailed once with Cunard on QM2 in Britannia. I enjoyed ambiance a lot. As for some other things I would not call Cunard luxury line.
