  1. We normally have a breakfast buffet at the hotel embarkation morning, and try not to eat too much because we will eat the suite lunch upon embarkation. We normally enjoy a bottle of Prosecco/wine (already chilling in our room) during the afternoon while we wait for sail away and luggage delivery. Typically, we will drink more than usual on boarding day and will desire a good 'LATER THAN NORMAL' evening meal to observe sail away.
  2. Probably closest to the cruise port is Fleet Landing Restaurant. It sticks out over the water. We stayed at a hotel just across the street a couple years ago. The food was good, it was a fun atmosphere. We were in Charleston for a week and ate there two nights for dinner. It was not terribly expensive either. We ate several different types of seafood.
  3. I agree with NW Pacific. We are Diamond as well, have been sailing Norwegian exclusively since 2002. We loved the Jean Ann Ryan productions back in the day. Now that we are older we aren't so much into partying all night, though we stayed up dancing (until they stopped playing music) the first night onboard, a year ago April in the Bliss Lounge on the Dawn. We normally try to make the Welcome Aboard Show, The Farewell Show, most all of the productions in between, and love to stop in the lounges at night when there is live music. Have been to Syd's, Howl at the moon, Beatles, Illusionarium, and have enjoyed some of their comedians. We even enjoy their Atrium entertainment and poolside shenanigans. Our next cruise is on the Pearl in October, really not showing any evening entertainment options. I believe we all have different ideas of what entertainment means to us, but NCL will eventually regret not offering evening entertainment. Not everyone wants to drop a donation in the casino every evening. Not sure how we will respond if they discontinue live shows.
  4. Port: Geiranger Norway (and the sail into and out is spectacular fjords) Ship: Spirit Cabin: DOS 17004 on the front of the Epic
  5. At this point that is the plan. We have a free night at an airport hotel that has a free shuttle from the airport. Check in is at 3, so an NCL tour ending at the airport sounded like an easy option. We have seen the sites of Boston several times, and will have been in Boston 2 days pre-cruise. Our flights back to the midwest were free, so couldn't chose an afternoon flight on the day of disembarkation. Just trying to fill some time.
  6. Our Canada/New England Cruise, RT Boston, is just over 100 days out on the Pearl. We have been watching to see if they would post a tour for the day we disembark in Boston, but nothing shows up. Wanting to just be loaded on a bus with our luggage when we leave the ship. I am hoping once we are onboard they will give an option with a tour of Boston that will end later in the day at Boston Logan Airport, since we don't fly out until the following morning and are staying out near the airport (we have two days in Boston pre-cruise). Anyone experience a post cruise NCL Boston organised bus tour?
  7. There are “door hangers” in your room you may fill out, asking for anything they serve on the ship to be delivered for breakfast. They offer a time range, for delivery time of your choosing. We usually fill them out and leave them in the room for the butler the night before.
  8. We love cruising in sweatshirt weather. If it’s cool on the balcony we ask our butler/steward for a deck blanket. Any day at sea is a a blessing.
  9. We will be traveling with family for the first time on our next cruise. We are in separate cabins, suites. There are two in each cabin. How do you go about making reservations for four people, instead of two tables for two if you wish to eat together?
  10. I knew I would get flack from some (like Griff) for posting this morning's State Department warning. The times are changing, apparently kidnappings and crime against tourists are too, and some regions are worse than others. No reason not to be aware, better safe than sorry without prior knowledge of government travel warnings, especially since the OP is from Australia. Please don't criticise me for trying to be helpful.
  11. This morning Fox News reports the State Department has issued updated Travel Warnings, due to elevated crime and safety concerns, for Haiti, Jamaica, Colombia, Chile, and Peru. The Star sailing would be considered an Antarctica sailing, which we have always wanted to do. Due to the above, I vote for the Star!
  12. You will definitely be walking uphill. Just keep that in mind if anyone in your party has challenges walking uphill.
  13. It was back this morning. Probably shouldn't get too excited about these type issues over a weekend, but the NCL rep that chatted with me said it was no longer on her search engine either. Relief - as flights were (free) reward points, non-refundable.
  14. This morning, checking prices on a booked cruise, price comes up per stateroom, vs. per passenger. First time I have seen it that way.
  15. I just completed an online chat, was told the cruise is still valid and has not been cancelled. She said it may not show up because it might be sold out. It no longer shows up in her search engine either. I realize I just answered my own question, but someone else may notice this and this post may help them as well.
  16. 7 day RT Boston. I am hoping it’s just one of those NCL snafus. Was trying to look at current prices (final payment next month), and the website says no longer available. It does still show up on My NCL as a booked cruise. Has anyone that is booked on this cruise got more information than I do?
  17. We sailed in the Spirit Forward Facing Deluxe Penthouse with Large Balcony last September for 10 days Alaska. These Penthouse suites are on the Starboard and Port outside corners. We were in 10502. It has 2 balconies, one narrow but long on the front of the ship, one off the master bedroom (port side of ship). To access the front balcony you walk through a regular door into a small vestibule that houses the bulkhead door. We were able to get the room steward to bring in a pool lounger, we sat on it wrapped in deck blankets up in the glacier areas. The side balcony was small but had 2 chairs and a table. This suite had 1-1/2 bathrooms and the bedroom was separated from the living/dining area. It was a great suite for sailing Alaska.
  18. Never had a problem with a curling iron, etc..
  19. It is currently "spring break". Has been for a couple weeks, will be for a couple weeks. It does make a huge difference. The ships are packed right now.
  20. We've been bringing USB chargeable fans, small ones like Calico above, for the past couple years. We have never had an issue and usually pack them in our carry on luggage, so they go through the security check on the conveyor with us. No one has ever said anything about them. Wonder if the chargeable ones are allowed (though they say "all types"), or if this is something new....
  21. There has been a machine in the casino of the last few ships we've been on that breaks down bills of all denominations to the next smaller denomination. Very convenient to use. I believe it is the same machine as the ATM (never used one as an ATM) and gives you the option. Beats going to the cashier window of the casino IMO.
  22. We were on the Spirit in the cabin I described in Alaska last September. The narrow balconies were fine for that itinerary, really the side one wasn't noticeably different from many (small) Haven balconies. The front one was narrow, but we were able to get a lounger put on it, we sat on one lunger and one chair wrapped in deck blankets while up in the glacier areas.
