Looking for information on QM2:
Is there a hairdryer in the cabin?
Can you wash and hang 'smalls' in your cabin?
Does one tip for Room Service even if tips are added automatically to your bill at the end of your voyage?
The Cunard forum is the place to post your questions

check out the ports of call forum for information about each port

Bullfrog sunscreen. It is the best if you are going to be in the water. My daughter who is a very fair skinned redhead didn't burn on our cruise and we only applied twice a day for the most part.

You can take a taxi to Barachina's and leave your luggage. Just leave a tip in the jar. It is easy to find a taxi when you are ready to head to the airport.

You might want to post this in the St Lucia forum. This is the St Marten forum ;)

OSJ really isn't that big. DD and I walked quite a bit of it in January. We did a quick walk through of the forts, there are some really nice views from there. We walked the Paseo de Morro through the San Juan gate. We found the Parque de las Palomas and fed the pigeons. We did a lot of shopping and just enjoyed the area.

After you get off of the trolley, you will have a long walk ( level ) to get to the entrance of the fort. Once inside, there are a lot of stairs if you want to see the entire fort. :(
I agree. Both forts have a lot of stairs.

We are thinking about leaving from San Juan early next year. Seems like you get a much better cruise itinerary leaving from there rather than Ft. Lauderdale or Miami.
That is the whole reason we cruised out of SJ last year. We fly from AR and it's not much more to fly to SJ than to Florida for us. We like the port intensive itineraries and only one sea day. We are of the sort that get bored on the ship.

We took the taxi to Coral World, stayed a couple hours and went over to Coki beach for a while. One nice thing about Coral World is they have lockers and showers. We left our stuff in the locker while we went to the beach and went back for a shower. We found a taxi right outside with no wait. He took us to Magic Ice. I don't remember the taxi rates but seems like it was $10 per person (or a little less) each way. We got another taxi to take us back to the ship. We found taxis to be our biggest expense off the ship on all the islands.

Be warned, we flew in the day before our cruise in Nov 2013. We loved Puerto Rico so much that DD and I went back this January and spent an entire week. ;) I highly recommend a day or two pre cruise to see some of what PR has to offer. Great information on this site:

:D
Our departure time is 8:30, so we should OK. How much is the cab fare, or do you know if it could be found online? Thanks.
The link for the taxi fare chart is here:

You would get more answers if you post in the San Juan forum;

My wife and I will be taking a cruise next month and we're looking for some activities to do in port while at San Juan. I think we have like 8 hours before the ship leaves. Is that enough time to make it to the east coast and back? We're trying to go spearfishing. Any advice would be welcome!
It's about an hour drive to Fajardo.

We are renting a van for 1 day to go to the rainforest and need to return it to the airport. My husband plans on dropping us off at the fort and then returning the van. He would need a taxi to meet us back at the fort. How much would this cost?
the taxi rate chart is here:

Thanks so much for your input! We are excited to explore San Juan
We love PR. We enjoyed our one day pre cruise last year so much that we went back for a week!

I would choose Charco Azul and guavate. Last year we did a tour that he no longer offers and we swam in the rain forest so I think the swimming hole would be fun. This year my daughter and I stayed in PR for a week and did his mango daiquiri tour which included Guavate. That is a really cool experience.

I have heard numerous reports of people having their hair fall out when using Wen

My husband and I sailed last year with our 26 year old daughter in an OV and we were fine. WE are only in our cabin to shower, change clothes, and sleep.

we did end up booking with ellis tours. I think because we were a family of 6 we were more attractive. I said we wanted to experience El Yunque but wanted to mainly see waterfalls and avoid the crowds. Meeting him at 730am off of ship. Ship excursion leaves at 8am. I think we should be ok. If not...oh well.
I love Ellis, We have used him twice and can't say enough good things about him. You will have a great time.

Furthermore if you are not hauling tones of luggage you can use the local public bus system if your ship is leaving from the Pan AM terminal (Old San Juan). Happy sailing!:)
You do realize this post was from 2009??

I can't really vote a simple yes or no on this one - 50
I don't mind wearing a skirt or slacks for dinner and DH is good in slacks and a polo shirt however, we don't care for formal night at all. DH doesn't own a suit and buying one for a cruise is silly. However, we enjoy eating in the MDR and hate missing out by going to the buffet for 2 nights out of the week.

Looking for some of the same information but, our flight comes in the night before at 10:30 pm. Will it be safe to get a taxi to Marriott at that time of night and will taxi be available? Also something to do next day before boarding the ship which sails at 8:30 pm.
Thanks any information will be helpful.
Marcy:)
When you leave the airport, there is a line for taxis. There will be plenty and the line will go quickly. We got in at 1am and had no problems going to our hotel by taxi.
If you want to walk around Old San Juan, you can take a taxi to Barrachina's restaurant http://barrachina.com/ and leave your luggage. They provide free luggage storage (just leave a tip in the jar ;) ) from 9-5 I believe. You can walk from there to both forts and all over San Juan.
Suggestions for shore excursions!
