  1. We are from Canada so can totally appreciate about the extra expense when travelling and when things are quoted in U.S. dollars, our current exchange rate is 38% lower than U.S. Cabin crew before Covid ( as I do not know current rate ), was $400.00 per month. As you are aware they are away from their families between six to nine months at a time. They work 7 days per week and over 12 hours per day. Their share between two people a cabin smaller then the typical inside cabin for sleeping. I believe most passengers are kind and thoughtful however I have witnessed some outrageous and rude behaviour towards staff,, and staff response is kind back towards the rude people. You and I come from commonwealth countries with a high standard of living. The staff come from countries where $20.00 a month is the average wage. We would be considered middle income earners in our country we travel in inside cabins all the time in order that we can cruise. We leave the tips in place and on occasion have tipped extra to some staff. For me I believe they earn every dollar. I know that when travelling in your great country of Australia that the price quoted for things like cruises is the price you pay, so Australians are not expected to keep the tips in place when say on a cruise that cruises around Australia, so it might be confusing to understand the tipping practice outside of Australia. All I can say is when in Rome….
  2. Yes that was true but they stopped the free cappuccinos at least ten years ago.
  3. Hi, regarding sinus infection, we have successful prevented those by using a salt/ baking soda combination nasal rinse. Look it up on Google. You can purchase Nettie pots, but we always make our own mix.
  4. Hi Tim, where were the above pictures taken I.e. Gollum and company, is that still Te papa museum?
  5. Wow, your pictures are great. Love the eclipse pictures. If I remember correctly on a previous cruise you had great northern lights pictures. And then the turtle pictures. The Sydney arrival pictures and zoo. You are quite the photographer.
  6. No conditions great your a long time lingerer, just seems odd that you never felt to post anything positive ever, and you are just posting as your first post a negative experience.
  7. I see you are a new poster how did you find cruise critic and the HAL forum and the first comments are a concern. Always surprises me that some new posters just have complaints. Why not just be in contact with HAL.
  8. Hi Jacqui, I am listed twice for January 3rd, 2023. I am no longer on the world cruise, I am doing the Grand South America. Thanks, Mary
  9. Hi Tim, the seafood boil looks awesome. I could see the Lido Market table signs on the table. But not sure I understand correctly. Is this a one time free special dinner in Lido or do you pay for this. Is it once per cruise or more than once. Thanks, p.s. turtle pictures are so good could be for a coffee table book
  10. I live in Vancouver, we have robots delivering food to the tables at our local dim sum restaurant since last year.
  11. Log into your HAL account, go to your booking, then go to checkin. You will see the health assessment there. It is greyed out until 72 hours before your cruise. Fill that out 72 hours before your cruise. Just ask things like are you feeling well, etc. Just a couple of questions. I hope you have a wonderful return to cruising.
  12. Hi Tim, We were on a 10 day cruise in September Vancouver to San Diego and various other stops then return to Vancouver. We had two helicopter medical evacuations on that cruise, never before in over 300 days had we had that and had two in 10 days. Before we even left port in Vancouver there was medical attending to a passenger sitting on the lido deck. I am thinking as we were all locked in for the last three years, we all want to get going travelling regardless of our current health status.
  13. Bon Voyage, very excited for you all. Looking forward to any trip reports.
  14. Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying the review. Love your sense of humor, (CDN=humour). Love the pictures, both yours and your wife. Great to see multigenerational family members cruising together. I would rate this review as a 15/10, but I know your a finance guy and as that is impossible so reluctantly I have reduce the rating to 10/10. Keep it coming.
  15. I wouldn’t be happy either. And I don’t like it where you have to opt out, they should have everybody is out and people have to opt in if they want to be on the show . This is not cool.
  16. I hope you or your family don’t get measles, mumps, chicken pox or smallpox. Sure hope you don’t get polio. I sure hope you don’t accidentally cut yourself as I guess you didn’t get a tetanus shot either.
