Saint John Instead of Bermuda
Ken at the beach replied to slotmomma3's topic in Royal Caribbean International
So I did look at a map. The closest port is CocoCay ay 1049 miles or 911 nautical miles. At 22 knots (fairly high speed) it would take 41.4 hours to get there and that is not including a lower start up and slowing down as well as docking times. Add those in and you are a minimum or 44 hours and possible more to get to CocoCay. Departing at 5:00 would put you at CocoCay at app1:00 at the earliest only to turn around and head back. That is best case scenario. Ant reduction in speed due to rough weather and you would not make it at all. Sorry. not trying to be negative just pointing out actual facts why there are no 5 day sailings that go to the Bahamas and back. -
Going going gone sale

Some take friends and family literally, I also know agents who won't take bookings under a certain $ amount....very shortsighted. -
Going going gone sale

Correct. It is only the F&F rates that require the use of a TA. Not all TA's may offer you the rates either if you have not done business with them in the past. -

Yes, but please note that many times the flyer comes out and rates get posted later or there are only a couple at that price and they are snapped up quickly. Just because they are in the flyer does not mean they are readily available. Let me qualify that. Any TA that is booking using cruising power. Not sure about visibility on other booking platforms. -
Protein shakes

Not for me to judge whether it is a valid request or not. If it's not they will tell him. -
I checked my sailings and I never got the seniors discount on any of them. I did have 50% off, 35% off and 20% off of some artificial selling price though

Yes, send a request through to special needs. -
Nothing has been announced as to where or not contracts will be extended or not. Nothing but speculation at this point. I can't recall which ship would be the first to have it's contract come to an end but that will be an indication of Royal's path forward.

Not seeing that. Still no access to the cruise planner for TA's

Compensation for Skipping Ports?
Ken at the beach replied to punkyhunky's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I disagree. I have repriced many rooms for clients and never had the port fees and taxes changed. In fact many times people think there has been a price drop and when they call to get the lower price the taxes and fees will not be lowered. -
The part that amazed me was we only kept one out of the probably 50+ kittens we had. My mom adopted one of the mother cats and my sister ended up with a couple of kittens as well. It was a well run program. The kittens stayed with us until they were old enough to be adopted. They got socialized with people kids and our other pets. They were adopted out on line and never spent a day in a cage, at a pet store or shelter. We did get attached to them but when their forever family showed up to pick them up and you saw the excitement on their faces it was easier to say goodbye knowing they were going somewhere where they would be loved.

I'm glad that you worked for such great companies that you never had to do that. It's certainly not all of the reps but it has happened to me on more than one occasion and reading some of the posts on CC about what people have been told by CSR;'s there is no other logical explanation. Here's one of my favorites; I called to try to see if I could find out why the sailing was closed for bookings (charter, drydock etc..) instead the rep told me that the categories were closed because they were assigning the crew staterooms.
