WOW...227 views but no response as yet.  Guess people on board are having too much fun on their voyage to check the internet.  Glad for them!

You have to remember there is a time difference🙂. We did not leave Cobh last night( weather )  , so a sea day today. Sunny this morning 62deg. I checked the pool and it is warm but the deck chairs are stacked up for rough seas.

  2. We were just on a cruise on the Mariner from Miami to San Francisco. The ship used Facial Recognition system to go on/off the ship. My understanding is that the system also looks at your body temp. My question is what else will the system do? I for one have a checked past and am very worried 😃

According to the Sail Safe FAQs, Regent will test you. Here’s the pertinent FAQ:

If I am participating in a pre- or post-cruise Land Program organized by Regent Seven Seas Cruises, will Regent offer COVID-19 testing for the required pre-embarkation test requirements, as well as any country-specific test requirements needed to return home post-cruise?
Yes, guests participating in any Regent Seven Seas Cruises pre-cruise or post-cruise land program will receive complementary testing for both the required pre-embarkation COVID-19 test as well as any country-specific test required to return home post-cruise. Further details will be shared in guest documentation.”

WOW thank you, did not see that. JD

I'm from Tucson too, and always pay for the deviation to have flexibility on both ends of my cruise.  I fly in a day early to Miami and stay at one of the airport Hampton Inns. Then flying home from Europe I'm able to choose the best option. Worth the $175 per person for the flexibility for me. Get to choose my flights 270 days out.

Hi, just a suggestion in PHX we stay overnight at the Hyatt Place Tempe they let us park at no charge. We have parked for as much as 30 days.

Ysolde - Remember, when flying eastbound (from Phoenix to Miami) you have time zones "working against you".  There's no way you can leave Phoenix in the morning (between 6AM and 9AM)....and ALSO arrive in Miami on the same morning (unless you're flying in an Air Force F-35 at Mach1-2 with in-flight refueling somewhere over Texas/Louisiana).  Flying non-stop, it's a 4 hour flight between PHX and MIA as well as a 3 hours time difference during the summer months (Day light Savings Time - AZ doesn't observe DST) and a 2 hours time difference during the winter months.

Don't forget that if using Regent Air and Regent's provided pre-cruise hotel (Concierge and above), you'll leave PHX in the morning on the day before the flight....stay overnight in a Regent-provided hotel in Miami....and then be taken to the ship from the hotel on the morning of "Cruise Day".

Well said. Remember that the flights will be in coach. We live near Tucson and fly out of PHX. We stay in Tempe for a morning flight to MIA most of the time on American Air the day before the cruise.

thank you for this!   This may prompt my dear husband to actually wear his (very expensive) hearing aids!  Quick question…..if he is connected to the iPhone, can I listen on the same phone with connected earbuds?  Or, do we need two phones?

No , I don't think so, but I don't really know. I would plan for two I phones

  7. I just wanted to give a heads up on how to connect an iPhone to a bluetooth hearing aid.

I had some trouble finding how to do it and wanted to pass it on.

Go to Settings - Accessibility - Hearing Devices - Triple click the home button to show hearing devices options - Hearing Devices -

    turn ON - Live Listen

Note : You will need to have the Regent App active and your group/bus # selected.

Z or GoArmy:  Tell me about using the Regent's app for tours.  I have downloaded the app, but do you need to have anything special in your cell plan coverage?  I usually turn off my cell phone when we cruise so I don't have the "surprise" roaming charges.  Makes me nervous to turn it on when we are not in the US!

Not to worry, just put your phone in " airplane mode" then the app uses bluetooth so turn on B/T and select your group/bus # and your good to go. Oh you will need to use ear phones of some type. I have hearing aids that connect with my phone.

Presumably because the ship has now left Europe ............... and spends the next 6 days at sea.

Are masks optional for crew as well as guests?

Thanks for the excellent reports from Explorer 😋  🍹 ............. and now @Gilly is going to be reporting on her blog from Splendor 😀

This Board gets more positive by the day

No, crew are still required to have there masks on.

A question, what is this about having to download the Regent app and needing ear buds to hear the tour guide.  I was last on a cruise in the spring of 2019 and I normally do not carry any electronics with me on tours.

Yes, on our first and only tour so far there was NO audio device supplied. I did have the app on my iPhone but no ear buds but since I am an old goat and have bluetooth hearing aids I was able to pair them and could hear the guide. It was that or stand close to her.

I also ran a speed test on the WIFI. See screen shot. Not like home but the best I have ever seen.

Thanks for all of the information!

We will be on Splendor starting on December 8th from Miami. I will be vlogging on our channel at:

We are very excited, and your posts have only heightened the anticipation!!!

Don't think you will be doing anything on YouTube unless you plan on paying extra for WIFI that allows streaming . On the standard WIFI ( included ) YouTube  is blocked. We are on the Explorer and that is the situation here.
