  1. First of all, I understand the TO that to dress up after a long tour is not that what he/she wants. we think of booking a cruise in Alaska next year but also don’t know if the dresscode will be right for us. we like to dress nice in the evening but do not like to wear the formal clothes. nice trousers with nice white shirt - ok… tie - not really and suit is always to warm. so it seemed like we will be totally underdressed ? is there a Buffett where you can have casual dinner ? thanks
  2. What is wrong with my post ? And I don’t think it is very critical - I just asked myself some questions … on our last cruises we got a pin and a letter that we now reached a higher „level“ at the end. Also for two and for three star it was like that. people next to our cabin also got their 3 star pin during the cruise because we saw it hanging in front of their door. I like HAL - this is why we are 4 star mariners! I also think that these guys turning 4 stars or more are very important people for the cruise line because they are always coming back (I am not going with a cruise line I don‘t like on so much cruises). I know that we get the perks on the next cruise. And I recognized we turned four star at home when checking my account - I was not sitting in my cabin and waiting for them to bring me the pin. But I also know the celebrations (not for us - for the Medaillon members !) on other cruise ships in the past and just where a little upset that there was nothing like that on this cruise and I do not even get an information during this cruise (like we got on the other cruises before) :“hey you are 4 star now“. for me it seemed like loyal cruisers are not important any more - and in my opinion that is the wrong thing … Like it is said on many posts before - we are happy to be a 4star now because of the laundry and other perks. …. and it seems like a lot of people liked the ceremony’s and just the informations: hey - nice to have you back here on board….
  3. We made it with days of cruising. our neighbours got some pins during the cruise. we do not wear our pins also, but it is a nice information so you know your goodies changed for your next planned cruises …
  4. Very easy - just get the information we turned to 4 star while being on the ship. I am not the one counting points… so after being back home and look for cruises I recognized we turned to 4 star - and we know from turning to three star we just got a little information about that.
  5. We are really looking forward to the free laundry’s. Are on a Oceania cruise right now and I will have much to do back home 😵‍💫 so looking forward being back home with two clean suitcases with clothes 😂 We do not want a big party, just a knock at our cabin door to give us the pins - absolutes fine. Turning to three star we got a „personal“ letter from the captain. turning to 4 star there was just nothing … a bit confusing, but as mentioned - maybe every crew and every cruise is different. looking forward to a next cruise with HAL 😊
  6. This is what we know too, a short letter and the pins. This time - nothing
  7. Turning 2 or 3 star we got a little Mariner pin and a card with the information we turned to another level. We don‘t think about a party or something special. Just the information and maybe a pin. because we are from Europe we only get the perks on board. All other perks like earlier information and so on are only for the US market. This is something we already know and what is totally fine for us
  8. Hello to all HAL Cruisers. We were on a 14 days cruise with the Rotterdam in May. During this cruise we turned from a 3 star to a 4 star Mariner…. And nobody was interest in that…. Back home we wrote a nice email if we will get any informations about that but we never ever got an answer. The only way we know that we turned to 4 star is when logging in on the HAL homepage and have a look in our Mariner account. For us it seems a little bit like they are not interested in us any more. (we are in our early 40‘s and plenty of time to do a lot more cruises in our life). We are pretty sad about this situation, because HAL always was our favourite cruise line. Does anybody of you had this before? Thanks and greets Janine
  9. We did not have a cabana last week (sorry - my Handy is writing Canada instead of cabana 😵‍💫). The Cabana’s are looking to the sides or back facing. Wind and rain can be heavy in Norway but in July the weather should be better than it is now… The front/back facing cabanas had Wind the last three days, so we were happy on the side. We can send some pictures of a hopefully sunny day tomorrow if you have any further questions !!
  10. Picture taken yesterday on our sea day, finding a perfect spot with no wind and sunshine 🙂 As I sayed- we are the only one on this cruise / so a very private place 😉
  11. Not easy to answer. We are on a 14 days cruise. The first 7 days we had a lot of rain, so we were not missing a cabana. this 7 days cruise should have better weather. We were on the smaller ships of HAL before and we think the Rotterdam is very crowed on sea days, every time at the lido pool and in the lido and MDR. we were really stressed to get something to eat or find a free place in the sun. Now we were at the Canada every day, we did not have to go to the lido for lunch because they go and get it for you, we have a bubble bath for our own. today the weather wasn’t good, but we went to our cabana, reading a book and use the towel as a blanket and it was very fine. Rotterdam has a lot of Dutch people on board, this is why we are missing the typical HAL feeling and are very happy to have this extra space
  12. Where are you going ? we are with the Rotterdam in Norway right now and are the only one booked a cabana - so we can change everyday. Avoid no 1-3 and 19-22 because if the people come out of the door they can look into your cabana… all the others look good to me
  13. We will be on the same cruise, booked club orange and also have priority boarding. We now got group J - 2:00 pm We normally wanted to have breakfast in our hotel, then park our car at the airport and go to the port. So our plan was checking in around noon or 1:00 pm…. It is also possible to arrive earlier with priority boarding ? (on other cruise line we know priority boarding as a - come whenever you want to board) thanks and see you on the Rotterdam
  14. I also have a question about the check in times : We will leave Amsterdam on the Rotterdam in two weeks and are assigned in group J 2:00 pm - so pretty late - but also have booked orange Club with priority check in … From other cruise lines we know „priority check in“ as we can go on board when ever we want. From HaL we now got the check in time ?!? Can we check in when we arrive at the terminal (around 1pm) or to we have to wait until group J and then have a separate line ? We will stay near Amsterdam and our plan was to leave the hotel at 11:00 am (check out time, after a nice breakfast) then drive to the airport (half an our drive), park the car at the airport (cheapest way to leave the car somewhere in Amsterdam 😵‍💫) and then took the next train to the Harbour…. thanks and greets from Germany
  15. On our cruise in May most of the tours were cancelled. Only 4 tours were still on the list. Most of them were already sold out before the changes
  16. What I want to say is : we made mad experiences with one cruise line, so we don’t book it any more. But we know that there are lots of people loving it, so it’s totally fine for us. On our last tui cruises we also recognized that food and service were worser on each cruise. So we won’t book it the next years. But I know there are a lot of people still loving tui. We understand and accept this. But when this happens to us, we maybe write about our bad experiences but that’s it. We don’t tell in this reviews how much we love other lines and tell the carnival corp a mold … The informations about carnival were very interesting, because the past years they got a lot of bad reviews, so it is nice to hear that service was going well on this ship.
  17. But you have to get tested …. Here nobody is testing anymore. Even if you have a cold …
  18. Have been on Equinox, 2x Eclipse and Infinity - and we will never book X again … extremely over priced and long lines in the restaurants and we often had to eat lunch in our cabin or at the pool somewhere because it wasn’t possible to find a table at the lido. So if you prefer X than go for it as we go for HAL. But then also change the forum to X.
  19. I don’t think there are these strikt protocols any more. By summer 2022 almost the half of Europe had covid. Here in Europe you are ill and have to go to the doctor if you feel ill. if you are alright, you are healthy - doesn’t matter if you are doing a test or not and if this test is positive.
  20. We will be in Rotterdam by the 20th of may for 14 days. We tried to book Canaletto yesterday and I couldn’t find it anywhere. so hopefully we can book in advance or on board…
  21. We are building a house right now, so this year we have to be spontaneous in booking something.
  22. Hi AMHuntFerry, we are looking for a riviera cruise 30th of October to 9th of November or the 9th of November to 19th of November in a concierge balcony cabin. It will be great if you can give me Informations about this. thank you so much and greets from rainy Germany
  23. Thank you. On our booking confirmations it shows Onboard Credit (USD) per person. But I also could not find this in my booking online. There I only can see these things you mentioned. Because we have a lot of OBC we won‘t pay anything in advance and will use it for the crew Appreciation and spa 😉
  24. Hi, I also received this copy from our TA - but can you tell me where I can find this information in the website ? I find the in inclueded tamarind and pinnacle and the 200$ for shore excursions. But not my OBC. thanks 🙂
  25. Thanks It is a HAL cruise. To get on board you do not have to be vaccinated or tested normally. I wrote them and have to wait for an answer so far. „Problem“ will be to go to US ports….
