On Regal right now...

It has been fantastic having you all along on our journey. This trip review will serve as a great diary for me of our adventures.

By no means am I a blind Princess cheerleader. I will call them out when I see the need. (There’ll be an email formulated concerning the issues in the Enclave which were ignored on board, for example). However, Princess has delivered a product that has more than met our family’s needs these past 12 years. The service, the attention to detail, the desire to improve upon a great product and make it even better, the ability to fulfill the needs of all generations (my parents love Princess and have travelled with us in the past), and the pampering that I experience as a wife and mother from beginning to end (somebody’s taking care of me for a change! I’m sure all wives and mothers will relate :)) will keep Princess our home, with a few minor forays here and there, for the foreseeable future.

Feel so blessed to have discovered cruising a decade or so back and feel so fortunate to be sharing that passion with the cruise critic family. Safe travels to you all, no matter when those may be. Hopefully, we’ll meet on a sea day in a wooden lounger on the promenade.

Hope you see this now, or later...

How is the Ocean Medallion process going? - What all can you do with the Medallion other than opening your cabin door and paying for some purchases?

Online casino gambling?

Order drinks - here and now, there and then?

Anything????

Forgot to mention that most of the bartenders I spoke to said ***** was not working in their bars. Remember the family the kids rode in the cab with to the waterfalls? They were in ***** cabins. They told the kids that their ***** worked about 50% of the time. However, they also said they can see the great benefits once it’s fully functional.

Did not see summary sheet. Our ***** worked in Casino bar and The Retreats bar. Wife's would open cabin door. Mine, half of the time. Worked in gift shop. They were not used at gangplank.

When leaving the last morning, went to our designated area 20 minutes early. The guy there said if we wanted to walk off, go ahead as there is no line. Wow, amazing how some cruise lines cannot figure this out.

That is amazing.

This is something you would think princess would test 2 months before release,

not being still broken 2 months after release.

You don't even need passengers to test something like this...

DW and I were also on this sailing and a couple observations come to mind. First, the crew was memorably upbeat with a serving/servitude attitude and appeared to be fun loving with other crew (even when not knowing they were being observed). Food for a mainstream line was very good.

I've never seen such internationally diverse passengers. Many Russian and other Eastern European, Oriental, and Western European guests. And of course many Canadians and Aussies. I would not be surprised if Americanos were in the minority.

We were all the way forward on the Marina Deck (15), so I got to observe the Medallion guests on every trip in and out of our room. Many seem to struggle getting in and out of their rooms.

And as for the pizza at the pool deck. My thinking is the only change is the cheese. It is less creamy (almost grainy), very greasy (visible pools) and quite salty. PLEASE CHANGE BACK! It WAS the best at sea!

Overall great cruise, although with a 1 p.m. departure out of Grenada and a noon arrival in Bonaire, why not lose Grenada, add a sea day and get into Bonaire in the morning?

Yes, love the suggestion about adding in the sea day! Would have broken things up nicely. Absolutely in agreement about the crew - they truly make the cruise. There were so many that could be mentioned, but one standout was Dumitru from Moldavia? in the ice cream shop at poolside. The smile never left his face and he made it his mission to put a smile on the face of every person he encountered.

On Vancouver airport: I was stalled there with my ten year old years ago. He had never shown any interest in art. One look at the art, especially Bill Reid and he was captivated. We took the Shuttle to the art gallery (it was a long stall!) He never forgot and is now happily living up in Haida Gwaii!

We are in the east so we miss him a lot, but he is so happy. The power of art and travel!

YES! He was INCREDIBLE on the 12/17 sailing! I made sure to write a card out for him, and mentioned him in our post-cruise survey. He was truly exemplary.

He met my husband once and then every time we walked by he would shout out hello to my husband. So very friendly!

I agree about standouts on that ship. There were so many great crew members.

Thank you h-sar for your very enjoyable On Regal right now live! I was on the 11 day Christmas cruise. This was my fourth time on the Regal and third Christmas cruise. The Regal is my favorite Princess ship and I'm heart broken it won't be repeating the 11 day next Christmas [emoji30]. I may have to jump ship to Celebrity next Christmas. Princess are you are reading this?? I was lucky to book the Sanctuary for the entire cruise. Only one day it was a bit windy. The staff were very accommodating. Some days they would move my chair 3 times

following the sun. The afternoon tea delivered to the Sanctuary was the best. We also enjoyed the retreat pool. The Regal staff and crew were fabulous. We thought the MRD food had slipped a bit from the previous year and we were disappointed in the new Sabatini menu. We did enjoy the Winemakers dinner and the Crown Grill. You were lucky to have a quick and smooth debarkation. It was a mess when we left the ship at 9:30. The porter said it was an issue with customs. I could not believe the lines. Usually it's quick and & so organized. We enjoyed the itinerary and would do it again. Unfortunately I left the ship with an upper respiratory infection that was diagnosed as pneumonia when I got home. Hope you and your family aren't too tired today from your long travel day. Enjoy your special Regal memories and planning for next years cruise!

Linda

Thank you for taking us along with you! If I couldn’t make it on this cruise, I was at least able to experience it through your great descriptions!

I hope you’ve recovered well from your surgery, cruisequeen4ever, and have another cruise on the horizon to look forward to.

Hi h-sar, I am glad you had a nice cruise. I am still curious about Iris Burrus. Do you recall a slim lovely black girl being one of the lead female singers? That might be Iris.

That I was unable to get the answer to your question while on board is a regret that I still have.

From your description, she could very well have been the ringmaster’s daughter in Fiera. On the other hand, every time I have seen Fiera on the regal, that character has always been portrayed by a lovely, slim, black woman, so not sure if Iris has been playing that role for the past few years. I do know that the performer’s singing last week was incredible.

The production show casts change about every six months. I've seen Fiera on Regal Princess with two different casts - in June 2016 and October 2016, the female vocalists were Stephie Crocker and Jenn De La Torre (I think Stephie was the daughter but not all that sure) and in September 2017, they were Leigh Cara (Fiera daughter) and Sarah Elizabeth Peavy (on this cruise, the TA, both did solo shows in the Vista Lounge in addition to the production shows). All four of them are white. I suspect that by now, there is yet another cast on-board. From what was said at a meet the cast meet-and-greet I attended, they rehearse on land as a group before heading to the ship so the implication is that working two contracts B2B is not possible since the contracts overlap when the the land rehearsal time is considered (the companies also overlap on the ship with a couple of weeks split between old and new so they can get up to speed with how it goes on the ship). BTW, nothing secret about the names as they were in the Patters or at an info sheet handed out at the meet-and-greet.

Thanks h-sar. IIRC Iris was part of the debut cast of Fiera and has returned to the roll over recent years. It does sound possible that it was her that you saw. :-) I think Fiera is at the top of my favorite production show list. I do hope you enjoyed it too.

There really is a lot of good, pertinent info on the Patters. I've missed a lot of it the last few cruises as I tend to read the online Events version which tends to be a cursory synopsis of hourly events. I wish the online one was a direct copy of the Patter, with all the bits and pieces of info that is in it. I'll have to go back to the paper version in the future.

Absolutely loved it. Have seen it 3-4 times and will keep going back. The songs are all my favorites, from various decades, and the way they're incorporated into the show is stellar.
