molly2kit Posted October 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2012 Hello, We have just booked the Harbor House Hotel for 1 night pre-cruise. We are flying into Houston and our shuttle should get us to the hotel around 6pm on a Friday night. Is there someplace within walking distance where we will be able to purchase a couple of bottles of wine to take on board with us? I found one wine store but the wines are about $30 each and we are looking for something more reasonable. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
Galveston Cruiser Posted October 6, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2012 Liquor store on Strand near 23rd, north side. Kroger and Walmart on seawall, not far by taxi, too far to walk.

CGBCruiser Posted October 7, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 7, 2012 OK, thank you very much - was hoping for a walking distance store but just might not be available there. It's well within walking distance of the Harbor House, just a few blocks away...an easy walk! Look it up on Mapquest.

Galveston Cruiser Posted October 8, 2012 #7 Share Posted October 8, 2012 I think it must be economy liquor 1911 23rd St - Perfect - thank you very much :) It's Frankies Liquor at 2328 Strand. Harbor House is at Pier 21 so this is about 3 blocks away. Economy is across town near the seawall and a very long walk - almost 20 blocks

Texas Tillie Posted October 16, 2012 #12 Share Posted October 16, 2012 Is liquor sold anywhere on Sundays, like Wal-Mart? Liquor (hard stuff), no. It's available at liquor stores ONLY from 10 AM to 9 PM, Monday thru Saturday. Wine is available at Walmart, etc. The old law was not before noon on Sunday. I'll check to see if that's still the case.
