Where to buy wine in Galveston near Harbor House Hotel

Hello,

 

We have just booked the Harbor House Hotel for 1 night pre-cruise. We are flying into Houston and our shuttle should get us to the hotel around 6pm on a Friday night. Is there someplace within walking distance where we will be able to purchase a couple of bottles of wine to take on board with us? I found one wine store but the wines are about $30 each and we are looking for something more reasonable.

 

Any advice would be appreciated.

Liquor store on Strand near 23rd, north side. Kroger and Walmart on seawall, not far by taxi, too far to walk.

It's well within walking distance of the Harbor House, just a few blocks away...an easy walk! Look it up on Mapquest.

Please keep in mind that Texas liquor stores are allowed to be open Monday through Saturday 10 AM to 9 PM.

It's Frankies Liquor at 2328 Strand. Harbor House is at Pier 21 so this is about 3 blocks away.

 

Economy is across town near the seawall and a very long walk - almost 20 blocks

Walked right past it last weekend!

There is a winery on Strand at 20th if open

and a convenience store just south Post Office St on 21th

which is four blocks from HH

Thank you Galveston Cruiser - I had used Google Maps and the address I found for Economy Liquor sure didn't seem that far.

 

Now I have all my information - Cruise Critic is a wonderful place:D

Liquor (hard stuff), no. It's available at liquor stores ONLY from 10 AM to 9 PM, Monday thru Saturday. Wine is available at Walmart, etc. The old law was not before noon on Sunday. I'll check to see if that's still the case.
