Enchantment of the sea review- 8/8/14-8/11/14

Recommended Posts

Good morning!

I want to write a review while everything is fresh on my mind! Little background...This is my 5th cruise and my friend's first cruise! My husband and I normally cruise together but this time it was a girls only cruise. We are both in our 30's. This was my first short/ older/ship! I'll give you the pros/cons!

Embarkation went fairly smooth and it didn't take long to board the ship! The first business to take care of was booking my time dining. I was worried they weren't going to have reservations at the time I preferred but it really was easy and they seem to want to help out as much as possible. You probably could of waited until that particular evening and just walked in to get a seat but I am a planner so I wanted to have set times.

Windjammer was opened and we ate shortly after. It was easy to find a seat every time and we always lucked out with a window seat. However, is it just me or is there less buffet food on this ship than say the Freedom class??? Don't get me wrong the Windjammer's food was good and it did offer variety. Good service as always. They even had this kiwi/strawberry punch this time. It is a nice change from water or the nasty un sweet tea! LOL I enjoyed many of the items but it did seem it was on a smaller scale....maybe it was just the layout!?!

We got to our room around 1:30. The room was clean as expected and was fine. They already separated the beds so that was nice. We had an Ocean view room on deck 3. This was my first time on a low deck. The shower curtain seriously stunk verses having the door! I really can't imagine if you are above average person body size wise! The door seems to make it feel bigger. You can't even wash your hands really in the sink the way the faucet is...Small. Small. The room steward was great. Very friendly and even handed out business cards! There was a slight stench once you get off the elevator...

Major perks for small ships... You CAN actually find pool chairs without a sea of towels on the chairs of people trying to save seats! It was great! While tendering you didn't have to fight for a seat on the boats. That was awesome. Everyone seemed to really space out... Plenty of room in the Windjammer except on disembarkation morning. It was madhouse.

I did miss the promenade. It's always fun to people watch & just walk back and forth & extra eating. The park café was new to me. It was great but didn't get a chance to taste the famous roast beef sandwiches. The service in the MDR was amazing! We had excellent food and they really were very friendly!!! Couldn't ask for anything better. There was no singing. The Viking Lounge was dead. I was amazed by that... There was only a hand full of people each night...We enjoyed watching karaoke and the chef demonstration! Didn't do Bingo this time around. Tried to win a cruise in the Casino but boo no luck! They had a parade of flags in the centrum which was nice.

Nassau was interesting! We chose to not do an excursion. We did the carriage ride just for fun! That was a joke and a total rip off. We didn't get the full time we paid for and YES I spoke up but what are you doing to do?? Write a review on Trip Advisor I guess. I've been there before so nothing was really new to me.. We did some shopping.

LOVED Coco Cay! It was great. Small island. Plenty of seating. We did the jet skiing. We paid for 2 drivers but I got very nervous and ended up just being a passenger for part of the way. I was shocked to see they refunded us and only charged me for the passenger amount! Way to go RCCL!! Great guide and it was fun driving on the way back. The Aqua park was closed due to jelly fish!!! Hope they got a refund....The BBQ was just okay.

Lastly, the cruise director was fabulous. That can really make the ship! Mike Guy! He was very entertaining. Does anyone have his FB page??

Sorry for the long post and the switching back and forth but hope you enjoy! Any questions please feel free to ask!!! :)

Good review.

We also enjoyed the Enchantment earlier this year. Really liked the Park Cafe and Solarium. Good place to relax.

We had an Oceanview on Deck 3- liked the small sofa- the cabin was nice.

Hope all the OV's have sofas. So much better than chairs on some lines.

I was on the cruise before you guys. The kiwi punch was yummy, and yeah the tea was gross. The only way I could drink it was to make an Arnold Palmer.

You are right about the sink. The spigot is so close to the edge of the bowl, you can't really wash your hands right. Sure looks nice though.

Were the 15 year old quinceaneras girls on board? Seems they have been on all or most of the Enchantment's summer sailings.

I was on the cruise before this one. There was a smallish group of quincenera girls, but not the big group (Fun Times). The group on board was called the fifteens.

There were no groups of girls celebrating their 15th birthdays.

The cruise director was Marc Walker as others have said.

There are small sofas in the OV rooms - decent sized love seats.

Those little bowl sinks have been put in the smaller rooms on every older ship that has been refurbished, unfortunately. They are silly. But the water pressure was good on deck 3.

On our cruise it was the exact opposite-our deck 3 room had bad water pressure (the 'shower' type sink) while our deck 7 one had good pressure (solid water flow).

I hate that....bad pressure. I rarely have good water pressure on a ship but on the lower floors I've had the best luck. Full suites used to have great water pressure but the last one I was in had the flow restrictors installed giving the same annoying little shower spray of water I've become accustomed to on board.

I was mid ship on Enchantment this time and the great pressure really caught my attention. Nice change.

I've been tempted to bring my own sink nozzle and pliers on board...

The pressure in the shower is good but the controls are like a Rubik's cube to figure out.

Dennis & Sue Here From the Charleston, SC area.

Glad to see another HAPPY Enchangment Cruiser....

The Enchantment 3 and 4 day cruises out of Port Canaveral are our favorite getaways. A half days drive and we are there.

We really enjoy the Enchantment, for a seventeen year old ship that sails with up to 4,800 passengers each week, we think She's great... We are booked in October and December...

We've sailed the Sovereign 3 times, Monarch 11 times and Enchantment 5 times to the Bahamas out of Port Canaveral since 2007... We've visited Nassau 26 times and CoCo Cay 19 times.

I've got to mention the New Years Eve Cruise on Enchantment...

We did this cruise December 30, 2013, New Years Eve in CoCO Cay and New Years Day in Nassau... We have it booked again in 2014...

The Enchantment knows how to Party on New Years Eve. Parties about the Ship for any taste, they had two combined bands in the Centrum doing Pop/Rock. They had a Latin band in Boleros, They had the Ship's Ochestra doing Big Band music in the Spotlight Lounge and a Pianist in the Schooner Bar. Every host/hostess started bringing out trays of complimentary Champaign about 11:45pm. There was a Buffet on the Pool Deck at 12:15am and if you were wondering what was happening in the Viking Crown Lounge, well, they started a Disco Party about 12:15AM (The First Party of 2014) that went, I'm Told, until 5AM... Reyno, the Concierge, had a party in his lounge too...

The Enchantment is just a FUN ship.

We had one of those little bowl sinks in our JS on EN last week. Looks cute,

but not user friendly. :(

LOL!! Great idea! Our water pressure was not all that good, and even the toilet

had to "think about" for a minute or two before it would flush.

BTW: Ed was sure having a nice time for his birthday! Nice they surprised

him with the cake. :)
