Considering Navigator of the Seas-Gamblers step inside.

Okay. I am over my disdain for the casino experience on Liberty of the Seas. Reference: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1062402

Considering the overall experience there would have been much better with a decent casino I am not gonna let that make me not consider others opinions about switching to a different class ship. I am looking at reviews of the Navigator and they seem to be in general very good. A nice boat with lots of activities.

I didn't find much info on the casino as I will be spending a lot of time in there.

If anyone can tell me what they like about the ship and if they can share their casino experience there that would be great. Specific information on their craps game would be great in terms of odds, etc.

Thanks!

I would think that Las Vegas would be a much better destination for gambling than a cruise ship. On a cruise ship there is one casino, and it is relatively small, and they have zero competition. Vegas has hundreds of casinos and they are much nicer... jmho.

LOL! That is not the response I am looking for. But thanks for the reply. I am traveling with others here and they are NOT gamblers but cruisers. I figure there are other folks here that frequent the casino. If I was alone then yeah you would be right on target. Viva Las Vegas. But that is not the situation. Oh and I do like the "cruising experience." It is nice to know if a casino is good though and I have been on many ships that have great casinos.

My dh and I are also avid gamblers who also love to cruise. You are right in that it can be a different experience based on the cruise line. We were recently on a RCCL/Monarch back in May and they only offered 2x odds across all numbers except for one night - they had 3x odds. Not sure if each ship is different but I am booked on Navigator on 26NOV and can let you know when we return what the expereience was like as well as what odds they are offering then. Unless of course, you have already sailed - when are youi looking to take this cruise?

I have an idea for you, book an itinerary that includes a port (s) with casinos. Aruba for example has great casinos, and AOS stays in port there until midnight. (Not sure about Serenade) Ports in the Bahamas will also have pretty good Casinos. Not sure what other ports have Casinos.:D

This is great. I am not heading out to next year. I will be waiting for an update. Thanks a mil.

A great idea-but even though my vote is to go on Princess (flame clothing on-lol) I got outvoted to consider Navigator (among some others). Looks like no Princess here though.

You don't sail for the casino....ship's casinos simply don't offer the "Las Vegas" experience, odds, or chances of winning!

On one of our cruises, hubby was playing Craps...he was rolling the dice. The rakeman switched out the dice in the middle of his roll---they hadn't fallen off the table and there was no reason for them to be switched....everyone at the table was boiling mad...

Ask the others to look at AOS (Adventure of the Seas) is a "sister-ship" to Navigator. (Happens to be my very favorite home-away-from-home!) Sails out of San Juan and does a really nice southern island itinerary. San Juan has nice Casinos too if you get there a day early! AOS is relocating soon (not sure exactly when) and Serenade (smaller but equally nice) ship will remain there year round.

Agreed but I hope to find a casino that provide great service and hoping if Navigator offers this. I do play to win and have before on cruise ships but I don't want to be abused.

YO - we have gambled on our cruises almost every night. From my experience, craps only has 2x odds once. Sometimes if the craps table is empty they will add a night to entice players. We've also been so fortunate that almost every dealer has been a blast to play with - I enjoy bantering with them. Perhaps out of 14 cruises, I have found 4 dealers to be surly, unhappy and without personality. I read your review so I hope your experience will not be repeated. But bear in mind, they know they have no competition. Research your ports next time - perhaps you can cash additional travelers checks at various banks on your itinerary in addition to onboard. You could also try to speak privately with the casino manager at the beginning of the cruise - he might be able to "take care" of you regarding the traveler's checks issue. But I strongly advise to ask privately not in front of others.
