Yes she has been refurbished not sure when.. but she has the sea side theatre..where are you located.. we are deck 6 above the lounge I believe..

I don't know what room we will have, it's a guaranteed, but it's an inside. Like I said, this is all new to me.

what's the *sea side theatre*?

we went up on the levee to see her pass at 4pm, but she finally pulled out at 6. Talk about turn on a dime. it looks like it takes up the whole width of the river. It looked like they had a dolly under the ship. Just so smooth. Looked wonderful at night with all of those lights on. Few more weeks and we'll be on her. Can't wait.

Just got off the Triumph this morning. This was our 9th Carnival cruise and I can honestly say it was one of our best.

Despite the one less day on board and the loss of our port, the cruise staff and services were excellent. We ate in the Paris dining room (early seating). Dining room food and service were on par and much better than the last three Carnival cruises we've been on. (Lobster/prime rib very good)

Regarding our room, we were on the 6th floor in an AFT balcony cabin. Nice location, very quiet and attentive steward.

Having been on the Conquest as well as the Norweign Pearl, I can honestly say the Triumph was as nice the bigger ships. Cruise director, Jorge was hilarious and the shows were entertaining. They are trying something new out with the comedians. Each night two comedians would do a show in the Rio Lounge (usually on other cruises they use this lounge for karoke). At times you were unable to get in the Rio to see the comedians.

I would definitely reccomend the Triumph to friends and family. Gotta go back next year for the Nassau/Key West sailing now. Any other questions??

Thanks for the reviews. I'm another of the ones who are counting down the days till I board the Triumph. :D

Actually, I've been waiting for her for a LONG time! We were booked on her when she was set to come to NOLA and didn't.....was that 2 or 3 years ago? I am SO glad she finally made it! :)

If she's as much fun as she was when sailing out of Miami, then you're going to have a ball aboard. Out of all the Carnival cruises I've taken, (24 and counting) "Triumph" was the best! Perhaps it was just the folks aboard my particular cruise, or perhaps she's always that GREAT, but I live in Central Florida, and I'd drive to N.O. in a heartbeat to sail her again. You folks are really lucky IMO, to get such a great ship in your back yard. Congrats!!!!

glad to share my thoughts with you all. I am very interested in doing the key west/bahamas itinerary b/c we've only done nassau once and we were young and drunk. LOL

I would love for you all who are about to go on the Triumph for the bahamas sailing to let me know your thoughts on the ports. Of course you come back from a cruise and you immediately get the itch to go back. I give myself a month before I get another one booked.

It is very exciting to have a nicer ship leaving New Orleans going on a different itinerary than Cozumel. For those of you who come down to leave outta New Orleans, our city is doing well and we need your business.

All of the CC Crazies have done the same itinerary on the Conquest, so we went to all three ports. I had been to them before, but liked them on the Conquest better, except for Freeport. Nothing closer than 9 miles away, are you kidding. Only a few shops by the port. I didnt want anything I saw, but I shopped quite a bit in Key West and Nassau, got some real bargains and enjoyed both of those ports where you dock right in the middle of everything. We like that iternary and would do it again in a heart beat.

to the poster, sushi?? Are you asking about the sushi? I think all Carnival ships offer it during the dinner hours. I wasnt very keen on it, Iv had much better from Walmart and pretty much every place, but yes they should have sushi. No raw fish or avacado on the sushi, which dissapointed me.

I've seen references in several places on the larger ships to sushi bars, however, I've never seen any mention on any of the Triumph threads on the net. I was hoping they'd have one. However, I can't imagine sushi without avacado or raw fish! LOL.

The green in my sushi was cold asparagus I bit into, surprise!!! They only have about 4 kinds, you dont get to choose what to put into them. They are made in the kitchen and sliced at the bar. Id bet Triumph has sushi, as even little Ecstasy had it. Harder to find on Ecstasy thats all. On Conquest it was in the promenade area, aft of the casino, just past the coffee bar. Id bet thats where it is on Triumph too?

You are correct Firefly - the sushi bar is in front of the casino bar on the promenade. Though I never had it, so I don't know if it was any good!

We were also one of the ones booked on the Triumph back in 2007 and had our booking cancelled..we ended up on the Fantasy and had a great time (I mean, it IS a cruise, it's hard NOT to have a good time) haha I am very much looking forward to our cruise in 8 weeks...and I have the same room (Aft balcony) that I had originally booked in '07 and did not get to stay in! :D Can't wait!

Well, I have to wait till March 1st to board the Triumph, so you will beat me to it. We ended up on the Conquest after our Triumph sailing was canceled. That was the first of many Conquest cruises for us.

BTW, I am an over the hill barrel racer. I see by your name that your kids rodeo. Very cool! I loved it when my kids were rodeoing. DD ran barrels & poles and loved doing the queen thing. DS ran barrels & poles and did a little roping until he broke his leg. Dr. said no more calf roping after that. What do your kids do? Little Britches? HS? Local?

  • 2 weeks later...

This is interesting to read. We live on the east coast and have always gone out of Florida but are looking at the 5 day Triumph cruise that leaves on a Monday with the idea of coming to New Orleans on Saturday (or Friday night) to enjoy the city before the cruise. Can I assume that most hotels, especially ones downtown area can get us to the port? I'm hoping not to rent a car while there. We were in NO years and years ago and loved it then and would love to see it again.

There is certainly transportation (shuttle or taxi) to the port from most hotels. You really don't need a rental car to enjoy downtown and the French Quarter.
