EAGLESLOVER Posted December 9, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2009 I understand that Princess usually docks at Crown Bay. Will be in St Thomas on 1/12 on the Ruby; Oasis of the Seas will also be there that day. Since Oasis of Seas also docks at Crown Bay will the Ruby dock at Havensight instead. There are 2 other ships in St Thomas that day also; I fear it will be very crowded.

Carolyn R Posted December 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2009 Oh my! Yes, it will be very crowded. If I were you I would make this a beach day and take a water taxi from Crown Bay where the ship docks to Water Island to get away from the crowds, either that or stay on the ship. That's just me. Bob and Deb Posted December 9, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 9, 2009 Last Monday, Dec 7th, the Ruby was at Havensight with a Carnival vessel and the Queen Mary and another Carnival ship were in Crown Bay. St Thomas is trying to manipulate the traffic by adjusting where ships dock. The traffic flowed easily yesterday but the taxi drivers felt that alot of the 1/2 filled Oasis guests stayed on the ship or walked around Crown Bay
frankathy Posted December 9, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 9, 2009 They will not dock two grand class ships at Crown Bay. When QM2 is in Crown bay the grands go to Havensight. Due to traffic issues. I am sure when the Oasis is there they will only let smaller ships dock in crown bay

I would prefer just to shop at Havensight and avoid downtown and stay on the ship the rest of the day. That would satisfy her, doubt crown bay shopping will. Rare 1025cruise Posted December 10, 2009 #12 Share Posted December 10, 2009 I believe I read somewhere that when the Oasis is in town, it will dock at Crown Bay due to space, and the Princess ships will be at Havensight, if they are scheduled the same day. I don't recall my source though.

If you end up at Crown Bay it is easy to hop a taxi over to Havensight. Much better than going downtown IMHO.

BruceMuzz Posted December 10, 2009 #16 Share Posted December 10, 2009 The pier at Crown Bay has two berths. The berth closest to downtown does not have enough water depth to safely handle a Grand Class ship. It has been done on rare occasions, but Captains are very nervous about running aground there. I don't recall my source though. Im December, the Behemoth of the Seas is listed as being at Crown Bay 3 times and at the West Indian Company Dock (Havensight) one time (on a day nobody is listed for Crown Bay).
