Postage from HMC

My wife and I are planning on posting our Christmas cards from Half Moon Cay. Does anyone know what postage rates are? Is this a real Bahamian post office requiring Bahamian postage? Thanks!

HMC is a PRIVATE beach--I don't think there is even a post office there!

From Holland America's literature: "The Welcome Center features an information booth, restrooms, bar, Bahamian straw market, ice cream shop, post office and first aid station, air conditioned island shop and tram stop."

 

I think its cool that you can post letters there. Just didn't know if it was Bahamian (buy stamps there) or operated by the cruise line (U.S. postage, probably).

We were there in Nov. and there was a post office where the shops are. Don't know what the postage was, but I do know they only take cash, not your sign and sail card. We were going to mail postcards, but didn't bring cash to the island. Didn't go in to inquire what the cost was since the sign was on the window, and we did not bring cash to the island.

It is a Bahamian post office. We didn't use it, but we did mail a post card from Nassau and it was around $.75, if I remember correctly. You should also know that expected delivery time from the Bahamas to the US is one to two weeks.

Thank you very much, Kathy. I was assuming the cards would be late. :) I'll plan on a dollar or two per item just to be safe.

There is a post office at HMC. However, to ensure timely delivery, I would mail cards from a port with USPS pick up such as St. Thomas, St John or San Juan. Otherwise, the may not get delivered by Christmas.

I will be writing and mailing my holiday cards from either of these ports--can someone tell me where the Post Offices are for each? Since they are USPS, I assume I will use regular US postage stamps.

Hopefully you noticed you opened a 3 year old thread about Half Moon Cay, which is not in the US and thus not served by a US Post Office. Far better place to ask is on the San Juan and St Thomas boards. Or even do an Internet search for US Post Office locations.
