Rum Runners?? do they work on RCL

Recommended Posts

All you smugglers are a great role model for your children. Good god, if you can afford a cruise you can pay for drinks. For all of you who want a nip on your balcony go to the bar and get one and bring it back. Or book a suite and get it for free in the CL. JEEEz

I too smugle (only 1 criuse but anyway) they so so so work. To those non smuglers DO NOT READ THEASE POSTS beacause clearly you do not smuggle and poeple who smuggle or lokking onto how to need some guidance. You guys can call me cheap. I am cheap and have every right to after spending $5800 in an family balcony anf $2500 on airfare and about $600 or more on per excursions. If it makes you feel any better our bar bill still comes to around $450 and I don't even drink!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

I do believe that it is impossible to get Bailey's in the MORNING so if you, like some friends and I, like it in our coffee, where else does one find it? Has nothing to do with being cheap, it's called being practical.

Only because you asked - buy a few shots from a bar the night before, pour them into a water glass (just to make carrying easier), carry them back to your cabin, put into the fridge, enjoy in the morning with your coffee. And the problem with doing that would be?

Well, I for one...the main reason I have ever smuggled booze was because of the cost savings and the ability to have liquor ready in my cabin the moment I want it! No other reason....You dont approve? I am sure you are perfect and follow every rule.......pray for me... I am weak.

Word to my smuggler friends..........I took two cruises out of Ft Lauderdale this month.........both times they checked my carry on and inspected each water bottle shaking it for bubbles....they even took two of my water bottles the first time..............Yes it was vodka.

Not sure of it is this way at all ports just yet

Cold does not work well with hot coffee :) and since they serve it with ice most of the time to begin with it's just not quite the same.

For starters, because it's an annoying and unnecessary pain.

Not getting into the pro or con debate here. Have smuggled in the past. Ultimately found it not worth the effort especially after becoming D+ and having plenty of free alcohol when cruising anyway. ;) But I have no problem with smugglers.

But to your point.... they only serve it with ice if you ask for it on the rocks. If you ask for a Bailey's shot or double shot you will get Bailey's shot or double shot - sans ice. As for cooling, we never put our Bailey's in the frig at home. It will go months at room temp without prob. You will be fine to leave it at room temp overnight. Just being helpful here mind you. :p

Use them in your checked bags - no worries!

Sorry to be a bit thick( or a thick brit) but what do you Americans call checked bags ?

It is the cases that the porters take or your hand luggage ?

The smuggling of booze is best summed up by the fact that the people who do smuggle are just TOO DAMN CHEAP!You can justify it all you want but that is the bottom line!

Really? Then what about the people who bring their own water & soda on board for pete's sake if you want to talk about being cheap! I just want a drink on my balcony or while getting dressed for dinner and dont feel like running up to the bar and back. I'd call me lazy but not cheap. Let me post my bar bill when I get back in 3 weeks and you can tell me if I'm cheap. And oh by the way I have already pre purchased the platnium wine package for $325.00 .... just saying.

Patty I agree with you. We used to smuggle liquor on every single cruise...Sure call me cheap! And we too used to buy the wine package......you know the one where you pay $40 for an $8 bottle of wine? Now I sit my cheap self in the CL and Diamond lounge and drink for free..(D+)..............Am I still cheap because I am still drinking for free? Please where does this stop?

I'm just off the Splendour out of Venice and we took a little rum - also for the convenience of having it in the cabin while getting ready for dinner. I had ordered rum runners, but the post office messed up and they didn't arrive in time. Instead, we took a bottle of rum and dumped some rum in water bottles and rum in coke bottles for pre-made rum and cokes. Then between our two suitcases and two backpacks, we divided up the bottles and checked all of our luggage including backpacks. I figured ONE of the bags would get through and, to my suprise, they ALL got through. In the end, we had to throw away some of the rum we brought and between the bars and the casino I don't even want to repeat how much money we spent. Ridiculous!

Bav

The Americans have a totally different English - LOL

I came here (to Florida) from England over 30 years ago and it took me a while to learn the language:D

The checked luggage would be the ones you give to the porters. Your hand luggage is what we call our carryons.:)

The luggage you give to porters in the terminal to transfer to your stateroom for you is called checked bags as they are "checked" in to the cruiseline or airline for handling.

I agree that we are two nations separated by a common language :D

OK so whats do Americans define as being CHEAP?

is it Cheap = mean and stingy, or

cheap = on a budget?

just like to clarify , cos if its the later, then im cheap! but im not stingy at all and can be quite generous when it comes to drink. My generousity doesnt stretch to lineing the pockets of big corporate money grabbing cruiselines though

Hmm when I say cheap it is because I'm on a budget (Social Security - or as they say in blighty "Old Age Pension" LOL)

Hi Patty,

Do you know how the wine packages work?

Is the wine delivered to your room on embarkation or served in the restaurants? Can you bring the bottle back to your room if you don't finish it at dinner?

We purchased beverage packages on Celebrity earlier this year, it was $380 per person for top shelf, about $300 for wells which were pretty good brands compared to some land-bar wells. We were glad we did and probably drank less than usual. Same company, so I wonder why RCL doesn't offer it.....it included bottled water and real coffee from the cafe.

Thx!

Bridget

Available in dining room, Windjammer or at certain bars. You may take bottle back to cabin.

Diamond (only get Diamond event) requires 80 points. A point being one night cruised with two points given if paying for a suite. So number of cruises can vary. A 15 night Transatlantic in JS or above would be 30 points. So three of these cruises and you are set. Diamond-Plus (with access to Concierge Lounge) starts at 175 points so 7 of those TAs will do it. This is about the least "number" of cruises to get to these levels.
