S class balcony view---over life boats?

From pictures I have seen, it appears that the life boats "stick out" instead of being hung under the deck above the promenade deck, the one you can walk around outside. That would seem to me to be blocking the view straight down from any side balcony cabin regardless of how high the deck. Is that the case or is this a reason to book a higher deck? I am soon to book my first X cruise, spending quite a bit more than my usual RCI cruise, and am looking to save a bit of money by booking on deck 7. But should I pay more to book up to deck 9 for better views?

Honestly...the higher up on deck you are the further you are from the awesome effect of the water!! On our last cruise We paid xtra(bcuz it is always made to be a big deal to be higher up) to have a higher up cabin and was very disappointed bcuz you lose the ocean feel looking all the way down to the water! On a previous cruise we were on deck 6 and it was the coolest bcuz you were closer to the water and it was super nice...Not worth the xtra money!! Deck 7 seems perfect for the price!!! have FuN cruisin >(((*>

We have been on Solstice and Equinox, both times on deck 8. Would give you a little more distance up from the lifeboats. BTW..our preference was 8200 because it was in front of the "hump"..8260 was the first cabin after the hump so you couldn't see forward at all...just other people's balconies. Have fun...they are wonderful ships! LuAnn

Hi, we booked a guarantee cabin for our upcoming trip and got an upgraded cabin and are now on the corner hump cabin. I heard the 'hump' was the place to be so wasn't worried, now wondering will I have to lean way out to see forward!

Ah well at least it's only 3 nights and we're looking forward to seeing the new ship!

the last cabin at the aft end of the homp you will not be able to see forward at all. If you leaned our to look forward you would just see the balconies of the cabins on the hump..no way to lean forward enough to see forward at all...and we wouldn't want you to fall over board trying! :p LuAnn

Any hump room is nice. And you are close to the aft elevators and all the public rooms, like internet, library, card room etc.
