Rare Woobstr112G Posted March 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2010 I was curious if the wine lists in the MDR vary from ship to ship. I'm trying to locate a copy of a list from the Ruby. Last October when we sailed I had a bottle of the most amayzing red wine I've ever had. It ws an AU wine by Wolf Blass (don't remember the exact type) and the cost was $40.00. I've looked around locally and have only found one WB wine that definetely wasn't the one I had on the ship. Any help would be greatly appreciated.....:):):) Bob

texmex.ferr Posted March 16, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 16, 2010 Hi everyone, We are doing our first cruise in March 2011 on Sea Princess, I was wondering, I like wine with my evening meal but DH prefers a beer with his, what happens if I purchase a bottle of wine, and it's not all drunk, which I know it wouldn't be, can it be put aside for the next evening, as some hotels do, or can I purchase a glass of any of the wines available? Sorry, I know this sounds a silly question, but don't want to look stupid when we board the ship. Thanks for any help Tex

They will label your bottle with the cabin number. All you need do is remember which dining room you were in when you drank your wine so they can find it easier if you change dining rooms. desiro Posted March 17, 2010 #12 Share Posted March 17, 2010 probably check at home in the section that is in the 8.99 - 11.99 price range and you'll find your "40.00 bottle" from the cruise. I drink the Rosemount Chard here at home and it's only 7.99 per bottle and it's $30 on the ship. The Chilean Chard that they have on board -Caliterra - I can get here for 5.99 per bottle and it's about 30 on board too. I'm actually fine with those prices when I'm on vacation - but glad that they are more affordable once back here on land! Cheers!

The Wolf Blass Presidents Selection Shiraz goes for around $20 here in California so the mark up isn't that bad. I have found that the lower priced wines have a higher markup than the higher priced ones.

fairstars Posted March 18, 2010 #22 Share Posted March 18, 2010 The Wolf Blass Label has some beautiful wines in particular their Platinum, Black and Grey labels. The Presidential Selection Shiraz is marketed for the US and UK markets but to due the state of the economy was made available in AUS for about $US13 a bottle, a little bit more than the Yellow label. If you want the best Wolf Blass Shiraz then it is the Platinum, ($US120 -$US180 ) and the Grey Label, ($US35 - $US65). The grey is great and I have heard the Platinum is superb but it is a bit ‘rich’ for me. :( I have had the Black label and that is sublime, :) it is a Cabernet/Shiraz blend and is about $US100 now, it used to be a bit better priced when I used to drink it. :( All in all Wolf Blass has some great drinkable wines both red and white. Happy cruising (and drinking), :D Chris
