Scotland01 Posted March 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2010 Returning to Miami on May 2 from Liberty and need to get to car hire at Miami airport. Advice on cheapest way. Last time we took RCI bus which seemed expensive.

Rare broberts Posted March 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2010 If you are using one of the major car rental (hire) companies they all run no charge shuttles from the cruise terminals to one of their locations. I've heard that some of these companies actually use the MIA location for this. I've only used Hertz who have a location less than 10 minutes away from the port. In Florida one way rentals, i.e. pick up at one location and drop off at another, incur no or a very low (< $15) drop off fee. Hertz, for example, has no fee for picking up at their downtown location and dropping off at the airport.
cb at sea Posted March 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 19, 2010 A taxi is $24....why bother with anything else? There will be a LINE of them waiting when you get off the ship!

kirbmeister Posted March 20, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 20, 2010 A response from Alamo I received yesterday: "Thank you for your inquiry with Alamo. The shuttle service to the port of Miami from the Miami international location will end on May 10, 2010. Any rentals that end or begin after this date must find their own transportation to and from the port at their own expense. I apologize for any inconvenience this policy change may cause. If you have any other questions or concerns, then please feel free to contact us again."
