beej Posted March 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2010 We don't intend to pull the tips already put on our accounts, but would like to know what do you usually do if your waiter and staff is above and beyond. Do you just leave a tip on the table or hand one to whomever. Thanx for the help

kywildcatfanone Posted March 25, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 25, 2010 We get an envelope from the purser's desk, write a hand written note and put the money inside, and give it to them after the last evening meal of the week. Our head waiter has been very kind to us on the last couple of cruises, and is supposed to be on the ship when we board this Saturday, so we bought him a UK t-shirt to give as well as any tip. He said he liked the one I was wearing one day on our last cruise, so I thought it would be fun to give him one. Mike
paul929207 Posted March 25, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 25, 2010 Give it to the individual who deserves it either in person or by leaving an envelope with the purser's desk.
Colo Cruiser Posted March 25, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 25, 2010 Dedicated envelopes available at the pursers desk and given to the appropriate staff will suffice. :)
Cruising Carol Posted March 25, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 25, 2010 We did daily reservations in anytime dining and requested the same waiters 12 of the 15 nights. We left the auto tips on and gave an envelope with additional tip money to the waiters and maitre de the last night.

ONT-CA Posted March 25, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 25, 2010 Do whatever feels right to you. We agree totally but please do it with full knowledge of the system. If you withdraw your daily service charge from your account and present a gratuity to an individual, said individual must turn that into the tipping pool where it is added to the total service charges collected. I however you leave your service charge in tact and wish to present a gratuity, use a envelope provided at the desk and do write your stateroom number on the envelope. In that way, your decision in paying service charge or not can and will be cross checked and if verified that you did not remove the charges then and only then is the employee permitted to retain the gratuity for him/herself. beej Posted March 26, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted March 26, 2010 Thanx for the info. We intend to keep the service charge on, but were concerned with different waitstaff every night. We also have done anytime Dining, but had the same waiters everynight by choice. Just want to make sure if we get someone great one night, that they get a better tip. since we are new to Princess, we want to explore the many venues on the ship. All hints and tips:D are really appreciated
