coupon books not worth it

Apparently, some TA's will give coupon books as an "extra".....if they are GIVEN to you, and you were going to buy whatever the coupon may be for anyway, then it's a value. If you PAY for a coupon, it's not worth it!

If you buy something you normally wouldn't, just because you have a coupon for it...shame on you!

I didn't pay anything for the book. It is called passport to savings. 2010 sailings.

Here is a example of the coupons:

Casino credit - $5 match play casino credit for blackjack or roulette table

10% off Royal Car. logo item - purchase two royal log items and receive 10% off a third one

15% off a dozen roses

20 minutes of free internet with the purchase of 150 minutes

I forgot about the Crown and Anchor books.

I just got coupon books for our cruise from our TA's company. Not worth it. You have to buy something to get something.

If you don't think it's worth it I'd be happy to take it off your hands......$5 match play and free internet minutes are great coupons IMO:D

If any of the coupons would be something you would have purchased w/ or w/out them and the booklet cost you nothing, how can you say the coupons are worth nothing ?

Savings are Savings if applicable to purchases you may make or had planned on making !

I'd be saying THANKS to the TA for providing them FREE to you rather than dissing the booklet !!! And BTW... if you thought they were worthless, why didn't you just say "No Thanks" when they were provided to you by the TA ?

I am sure another client of theirs may appreciate the gift since you did not want them ! :(

Well my TA even said they didn't look too great but it was part of the promotion so it was mailed to her.

If you got two of the match play, put one on black and one on red in roulette. You'll have a good chance of winning - unless of course the ball lands on 0 or 00 which are green ;):D

Soooo agree! I tear them in half and discard the minute we get to the cabin!!!!! Save the trees. Think these books are paid for/provided by the franchise vendors!!!! What we would give for just one item that was eliminated :( ..... Just don't appreciate until it is gone :o

While I agree that the old books had better coupons, I still find some value in the new books:

-We always buy fridge magnets of the ship and rum cake for the kids, so use the gift shop coupon

-We drink a lot of wine, so use the buy 1 bottle, get a discount on the 2nd

-About half the time we get a massage, so use the 20% spa coupon

-Usually eat at Johnny Rockets 2-3x, and enjoy milkshakes at least 1x, so use the b1g1f coupon for those

-I always use the $5 matchplay coupons at the roulette table

-We always use the spin to win coupons too and won a couple keychains for the kids that way on the last cruise

So we always manage to save a few dollars on things we would have spent money on anyway. :)

Coupon books could very easily be discontinued soon if not used. It's very easy for them to tell how much they are used and as someone said-if it's worth the tree.;)

How much you wanna bet folks will complain about no book too if they discontinue those!!

Something tells me that one mans garbage is another mans gold and many still use some coupons.

SSSSSSSH, Royal reads these forums! If you want to be sure you win, put a buck on 0 or 00. You only win $4 rather than $5 but it is better than nothing and if it does hit, you win more than $5!

I'm not following this logic.

It's "match play," so you have to put your money WITH the coupon, right?

So no matter the outcome, black or red, it's a wash isn't it?

If you bet $5 on each, and have a $5 match play coupon on each, you're betting $10 to win $10. Unless I'm missing something. Please explain.

I got this booklet for FREE. I am going on a cruise, if I happen to plan on doing something that may have a coupon available to it, I win. If I do not, nothing lost.

So where is the problem?

Is this another gimme, gimme, gimme post?

Very true 5 on red and 5 on black will wash 96% of the time, unless the ball land on 0 or 00, then you lose. Usually the dealer will refuse a bet if you put on both black or red, because it doesn't make sense doing it.

Yes, you need to take a "partner" with you to bet.

You put $5 cash plus coupon on red which is a $10 bet. You do the same on black, but only $5 "real money" and coupon which equates to a $10 bet. One will win and you get $10 cash "winnings." The other will lose, you lose $5 real money and the coupon. Net profit=$5.

Don't feel bad, it was several cruises before I figured it out.

The book is free, so what is your complaint? Nobody is forcing you to use it.
