Mariott Stellaris

Lorey-

I don't think you will get close to a Priceline price unless you catch it on hotwire. There is lots of information about bidding on Priceline...we always go through them or hotwire to get our hotels. Never pay full price. It is very easy. Take a chance.

bigeagle12,

You can actually bid more than once a day. If your bid is rejected, lets say, you bid $100 for resort, in San Juan area.. You can then add another area, which doesn't have any resorts, then it lets you bid again.Mayaguez - Isabela does not have any resorts in this area, you can add this and re-bid.

Up your bid to $110, it should get accepted. The only thing is, Priceline has 4 hotels listed under "resorts". Marriott Stellaris, Intercontinental, Hilton Caribe, and El San Juan Hotel & Casino. You could end up in any one of those, even though lately it seems everyone is getting the Marriott. I used this process to get Marriott for $110 per night, for 2 nights. Alot cheaper than if booked on my own.

According to people on CC they are getting the Marriott for $110/$120 a night. Need to select Condado area and select resorts (DO NOT SELECT 4 STARS OR 5 STARS). I would start at $100 .. you can only submit 1 bid per day.

These are the areas to select from on Priceline. Which is the Condado area?

1

Aguadilla –

Cabo Rojo –

Dorado –

Humacao –

Mayaguez –

Ponce - Guanica –

Rio Grande - Fajardo - El Yunque

San Juan –

San Juan- There is no division between Condado (Marriott) and Isla Verde, (Intercontinental, El San Juan) you could get a resort in either of these areas or the Caribe Hilton, that is in OSJ.

I put in a $110.00 bid this morning on Priceline and got the Marriott San Juan for two nights. I doubt you will get anything close to a Priceline rate without using Priceline.

Does it seem people are winning the Marriott for multiple nights rather than for a one night stay? I may get up enough courage to bid later today for our 3 night stay for January.

WooHoo my bid of $111 was accepted for 3 nights Jan 27-30:).

Now I need to know if I should get a rental car, Priceline quoted $25 a day with taxes and fees $96. I believe there is a fee to park the car at the Mariott. Is it easy to drive around and find parking in Old San Juan or shopping and dining areas? Am I right in thinking a car would be cheaper than using a taxi for 3 days?

Congrats! You'll love the Marriott! Yes, a rental car will be a lot cheaper than taxis. Parking can be tough in OSJ, but there are parking garages and a large lot down by Paseo de Princessa, so you may have to walk, but can always find parking somewhere.

if you are only traveling to the historic district ('old' san juan) from the mariott you can easily take the bus route that runs right in front of the hotel, the last stop ends at the main station at the historic district.

I was REALLY hoping to get the Marriott as we are there for three nights (July1-3) before sailing on the 4th.

This morning I tried Priceline for the two previous nights and ended up with the Caribe Hilton. Ah well, we'll just enjoy a different part of town!

You will not be disappointed. We normally stay at Marriott because we are using Marriott points. Actually think Caribe is nicer.

  • 3 weeks later...

How much did you bid for the Caribe Hilton. I'm in the process of bidding for a resort in the Condado area for mid January, but am waiting for the airfare to open up first. We're unsure if we want to stay 2 or 3 nights in OSJ. I got the Marriott Stellaris a couple of years back for $160/nt but plan on lowering my bid this time.
