Had dinner at Fleet Landing tonight. Sat outside and watched people coming and going from the terminal, knowing that tomorrow morning, she'll be sitting there with her bow almost even with the restaurant.

And I have enough Shrimp & Grits leftover to have a late breakfast before heading to the pier. You know, just to hold me over until I'm on the Lido having lunch! :D

Have a wonderful time and enjoy this evening downtown. You will have a great B2B! Shrimp and Grits... YUM!

OMG OMG OMG

Just let me get to the port. This waiting thing makes me nuts. I just want to get on the ship and THEN I can really start to relax.

I'm not terribly patient and I am SO ready for this. And I don't want to read one more word about any stupid tropical depression. Not a word!

It's beautiful here this morning and should be around 75 when we sail.

I do know I'm going to ask the desk to NOT put DD in Room 101 (Home2Suites) because the traffic woke me at 5 am. But I know I'll sleep like a baby tonight!

Will see some of you on the next sailing and will talk you all in a couple of weeks. :D

Bon Voyage!!! I saw the ship on my way into work this morning and thought of you. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you return. But we wont talk about "returning home" just yet. That's depressing!

Guess I'll start my review this morning. Would rather do that than more laundry. :p

Cruise was great, but there were some things that weren't so great, but those were more of just personal preference. Like the fact that there is music blaring everywhere at all times. That's something that bugs me. Can't go grocery shopping without having bad pop music blasting over the speakers. When did we get to the point that this became the norm?

Missed Freeport on Leg 1 and HMC on Leg 2. :( Oh well. It could've been much worse. Had some rather rough seas a few days.

Tried Your Time Dining on Leg 1 and I'm not sure if I like it or not. First night, was seated with 3 couples and a pair of friends/sisters. I was betweeen two sets of two and was totally ignored. No one spoke to anyone other than the person they were with.Way too many ball caps in the dining room. More kids than I expected.

Not sure I particularly liked Risa as a CD, but as I always note, I'm not one to "do" a bunch of things that involve the CD. The announcements are intrusive, and if she MUST come on and tell us multiple times a day what it is that we should be doing to spend our money, she could at least slow down to the point that we can understand what she's saying!

Filipino band was good but they really don't need to be playing in the hallway across from the casino. There's nowhere to dance! If you want to dance, you block the Promenade Deck. Why isn't this happening in Cat's Lounge? Because they're having stupid Karaoke there because they've converted the back lounge into a comedy theatre.

Anyway, I'll save the rest of my comments for the review.

Better update my signature and remove my countdown clock!

I still cruise (mostly) for the ports.

Here's the link to my review.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1732799

It has received very few comments. Maybe people really do want a blow-by-blow, day-by-day account of everything you ate and drank, everything you did, and every step you took in port, with pictures of it all.

I just didn't have the energy to write 12 day's worth of details and figured my general impressions would suffice.

Of course, it could simply be that no one actually cares about my general impression except me! :p

Can any recent Fantasy cruisers tell me how much the Internet plans are? We are going to do a 5-day and a 7-day, but I don't suppose there is any way to carry over unused minutes or buy a large package for both cruises.

Thank you all

Thinking of the Hampton Inn Nort Charleston cruise package for my january 14 cruise.

Safe area ?

I stayed at the Hampton last Jan, and had no problems. I will be staying there this Dec for our B2B on Fantasy. I love the hotel, and they have a very good breakfast spread. Nice to have a shuttle back and forth with free parking also. We used our points for the Hampton, and you can't beat free..

I doubt it. You can probably ask, but from what I found, since the two legs are two separate cruises, nothing carries over.

I just looked through every piece of paper I brought back (and I brought back everything that was in the cabin), there are no package prices listed. They have "specials" shown, and bonus minutes for sign-up on the first day, I think. I don't stay connected when I cruise, so I have never really paid attention.

Are the prices listed somewhere on Carnival's website?

If I manage to get all this stuff scanned, I'll post back here. Will probably just save it all as pdf files (which means I can't upload to Flickr), but if people want copies, I'll provide an email address and they can just write me.

I had no problem connecting to the wi-fi in Festival Place in Nassau. I could check my email and see Facebook posts, but I wasn't able to update my status via phone.

I also used the computers on the ship just to check Carnival's website a couple of times late on Leg 1 to see if there were any updates/changes for Leg 2. Not that I didn't believe them at the desk when I asked whether we might have any issues with the 10/27 departure.

We really were very lucky re: Hurricane Sandy. Yes, I missed both Freeport and HMC, but we stayed ahead of her on Leg 1, and when we were hugging the coast on the return to Charleston, she turned a bit NE. By the time we left on 10/27 and headed back south, she'd passed us and was turning back toward the east coast.

It could've been so much worse!

Still, I really needed my Half Moon Cay fix. :(

Just found this posted elsewhere...

It is expensive & relatively slow. The cost is 75 cents per minute, or one can purchase a block of minutes for 100 minutes @ $55 or 250 minutes @ $100. There is a one-time activation fee of $3.95.

So it really depends on your needs. If you just want to check in at home once or twice, I would use texting. International texting is something like $0.50 each. Or one or two quick cell calls would be cheaper than the internet package.

But I'm paranoid about using my phone. I keep it in flight-mode because I'm afraid that if I try anything else, I'll accidently end up running up a huge phone bill because my phone will be trying to access data.

So, I brought the pile of papers to work. I'm thinking I'll scan the FunTimes for the 5 night and the 7 night, and then I'll scan all the other pages (spa prices, shopping flyers, art auction, etc) as a 3rd document.

Thank you! Looking forward to the 5-night Fun Times because I'm leaving on this cruise (my first with Carnival!) the day after Thanksgiving :D

This is just a reminder for those that already are “in the know” or a new hint for those that “didn’t know”.

In South Carolina if you display any US or Canadian handicapped placard or handicapped license plate your parking is without charge even at the cruise terminal. You can park in any metered space on the streets or any public parking garage without charge anywhere in the state. Just to be clear, it has to be assigned to you or your driver. It won’t count if you “borrow old Aunt Claudine’s placard” as they will check while you’re on the cruise!

Gosh Clem, they have that darned in-tree-net there too

Secondly, for those have a ways to travel; might you consider a "Park & Cruise" stay overnight in Charleston? (Google "Park & Cruise Charleston")

This involves many of the fine hotels in the Charleston area that with a single overnight stay, will not only shuttle you to & from the cruise terminal, and will allow you to park on hotel property for the time you are away at no additional charge. In some ways the cost of an overnight stay and the chance to visit this lovely historic city outweighs the $17 per-day-charge to store your car at the dock {up $2 per day recently, thanks Pink}. You cruise refreshed in the morning, not beat to a pulp after the two hour traffic tie up on I-26 for no obvious reason at all.

Although we have never done "Park & Cruise" in Charleston, because our older sons are our chauffeurs, we did do "Park & Cruise" in Tampa for the Carnival Legend and it was pain free.

If the link below is still available this will tell you what you are in store for if you come and visit our holy city for a bit before your get on your cruise! Slow down, get your camera and get hungry! As patthecma would say mangiare!

See you all on board!
