Almost Live from the Victory

Hello fellow seafaring enthusiasts!

I will be on the May 2nd sailing of the Carnival Victory. Only 5 more nights in my own bed until I board a red eye out of Los Angeles on the 30th.

I'm starting my trip with one night at the Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino. Then, off to the wonderful Southern Caribbean.

I'll be attempting to live post from the cruise during my downtime between shore excursions and dinner time, so long as the wireless cooperates.

My port plans are as follows:

St. Thomas: Very early morning taxi to Magen's Bay before it becomes too crowded (3 ships in port). In the early afternoon, I'll probably do a little shopping downtown and then meet some of my party and take the sky ride up to Paradise Point.

Dominica: I booked the Emerald Pool and Beach Pleasures tour with the ship. I'm quite fond of black sand beaches, so though I heard Mero isn't the best place to swim, I really am looking forward to getting my feet in the sand. Followed by some trinket shopping in the port, then back on board.

Barbados: I booked with Glory Tours and I'm going to visit Harrison's Cave, Bathesba, the Wildlife Reserve, and spend sometime at the beach and shopping a bit in Holetown.

St. Lucia: I believe this will be my R&R and ship exploration day. Last time I went to St. Lucia I did the land and sea tour and decided that since the rest of my trip is so active, I'm going to kick back and relax.

St. Kitts: This will be my first time there and I've booked Rose and Jim's Taxi tour. It looks great and Rose has been so wonderful with information. Brimstone Hill Fortress, Romney Manor, Cockleshell Beach, and all of the beautiful island scenery in between.

St. Maarten: Golden Eagle Catamaran in the afternoon. I was going to try to get to Maho in the morning but I hear the flights don't come in until later.

If anyone has any specific questions about the Victory, please let me know. I'll do my best to get some pictures and find out information for you to post when I get home. I'll also have a nice detailed review as I keep a journal.

Only six days until I'll be basking in the sun!

Ask everyone on the ship and in the ports if they miss me as much as I miss them...? LOL. You will have a great time. This was by far the best cruise I have been on. Can't wait to follow along and live vicariously through you.:D

Purrlinda,

Have a DOD for me and DH, and enjoy!!! :D

I remember how excited you were when you were reading my review, so I can only guess it must be killing you now that it's so tantalizingly close!!:p Ah, if only I could stow away with you and relive it all!

Anyway, hope the daily onboard posts work, but I know how busy you can get and time just sort of slips away. But do lots, and then come back and tell us all about it in minute detail, ok? We'll be waiting . . . .

WOW Melinda! Now, that's an undertaking. I'm really looking forward to your trip as well now too. We leave June 27 so we have 8 more weeks of waiting.

My question is about Dominica. My DH and I are travelling with 8 and 12 year old boys. I was thinking that this might be my "Day at Sea" with the reviews of the winding roads and plunging cliffs:eek:. I don't think I want to risk the roads. Have also read that it's probably the most undeveloped port so I was wondering if there are any excursion type activities close by the ship that wouldn't involve long rides.

Looking forward to your posts!! Bon Voyage:)!!

Don't mean to bring bad news, but that is still 9 weeks away (well one day less than). Sorry, I am counting down the days until school ends. I still have 8 weeks.

We will be on the Victory on 9/12 and are looking forward to this cruise. The only concern I have is for our flight home. We booked the 12:12 PM flight based on Carnival's suggestion of anything after Noon. I'd like to know if you think this time is doable.

Have a great trip!

Have a fabulous time! Sitting in SJU waiting for our flight home. :( It was an amazing trip.

Now if TSA and Homeland Security would just leave our gate alone - they're making me nervous!

Oooh, this was the big group! I hope to hear all about it.

I can definitely help you with your question! (not to hijack) My kids were around the same ages when we did Dominica on CCL. (Liberty) Dominica is a beautiful country - get off the ship and see a bit of it! We did the river tubing thru Carnival - had a great time! This might be a great excursion for you and your kids. It wasn't too long a drive - I think around 20 minutes. We did the morning trip, and were back on the ship just after lunch.

I'll be on that cruise early next year. Do post the wonders of each port with photos! :)

I collect salt and pepper shakers, so if you see any with the ports' names on them and you think of it, could you take note of the stores you saw them in? I only got one set on my last cruise, but thankfully the other two ports (besides the one I already had a set from) were San Juan and St. Thomas, so I have second chances next year to get sets there! :) Plainish ones are okay, but I especially like unique ones. So, if you happen to see any sets and you think of my post, if you could remember the store, that'd be super nice of ya. :)
