Traveler353 Posted May 25, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2010 Not sure what ships you are talking about, but I have no problem with the coffee on board Carnival ships.

BroncosFan2010 Posted May 25, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 25, 2010 You should not have a problem bringing that on board. How long it lasts depends on how much you drink! How much does one box last you at home?
Rare LHT28 Posted May 25, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 25, 2010 Are you talking about instant coffee?
lady_cruiser Posted May 25, 2010 #6 Share Posted May 25, 2010 A box of Joe looks like this (the cardboard box.) It has a plastic lining on the inside that holds coffee. Compare it to the wine in boxes but only instead of wine it has coffee.

We don't have a problem with coffee on cruise ships but to add flavor to them we bring a small tin of those International Flavor coffee and add a teaspoon of that to our coffee. djaustin Posted May 25, 2010 #8 Share Posted May 25, 2010 Have never gotten a bad cup of coffee. Room service morning coffee is fantastic on any ship!

BroncosFan2010 Posted May 25, 2010 #10 Share Posted May 25, 2010 Some ships have a specific label of coffee. I am not sure about Carnival, but RCCL ships have Seattle's Best, and the new Oasis has Starbucks.

silverado44 Posted May 25, 2010 #13 Share Posted May 25, 2010 Carnival has specialty coffee shops like Starbucks on board. Much better than 7 day old coffee in a box.
springfire Posted May 25, 2010 #14 Share Posted May 25, 2010 On Princess you have to purchase a coffee card to get a good cup of coffee and you can only get good coffee in a couple of places. The coffee they give you for free is really bad. Carnival coffee is better than free coffee on Princess but not as good as the pay coffee on Princess. eyzwdeshut Posted May 25, 2010 #15 Share Posted May 25, 2010 I have to admit to having a few cups of bad joe on NCL. It wasn't all the time however...
uppitycats Posted May 26, 2010 #16 Share Posted May 26, 2010 I love coffee -- not the fancy froo-froo stuff, but regular old "leaded" coffee (with cream). I've yet to have a really bad cup of coffee on any cruise ship .. and certainly not bad enough to lug along a "box of coffee"!!
TravelRocker Posted May 26, 2010 #17 Share Posted May 26, 2010 Hi, we've had these boxes of Starbucks a few times here at work and by the next day what is left is too strong and bitter. Maybe you will have better luck but maybe try the Starbucks new instant coffees, I've heard they are pretty good. Happy Travels!
bucky7680 Posted May 26, 2010 #18 Share Posted May 26, 2010 I have no problem with the syrup coffee on board ship. I think that the people who complain about the coffee would blow a gasket if they had to drink coffee that was in a box for 3 or more days. I'd just spend the money on a coffee card. chrispb Posted May 26, 2010 #19 Share Posted May 26, 2010 I like my coffee strong so always take coffee granules with me, it's easy to find hot water.
chrispb Posted May 26, 2010 #20 Share Posted May 26, 2010 I also like iced coffee and made my own on board: Fill glass with icecubes Top up with hot coffee Scoop of vanilla icecream on top Yummy.
gerif Posted May 26, 2010 #21 Share Posted May 26, 2010 I don't think it would keep more than a day at best - and, as another poster inquired - how would you heat it up?
leavitt1 Posted May 27, 2010 #22 Share Posted May 27, 2010 Have you tried the Starbucks Via? They are instant coffee packets, but they taste remarkably like fresh brewed.

I just told my husband, "There's a BRILLIANT coffee recipe on CC!". I'll definitely give that one a try on our next cruise! :p
