unberwoob Posted June 1, 2010 #276 Share Posted June 1, 2010 We also book far in advance, usually when the new itineraries come out. Although thew changes are positive, they do nothing for us. Bring back the shareholder OBC combined with the balcony discount.
concour Posted June 1, 2010 #277 Share Posted June 1, 2010 I looked at doing that too but would that not mean that I would not get a price reduction after final payment as the new booking fell after May 17th?? I am booked out already til Feb 2012 (all before the new Best Price Guarantee) and I am weighing the pros and cons of making any changes to my existing bookings. I had just booked the three cruises yesterday so I was already stuck with the Best Price Guarantee.
melbur Posted June 1, 2010 #278 Share Posted June 1, 2010 Liz - this is the excerpt for the Diamond Upgrade. It appears now they have clarified that D+ upgrades are available 21 days out, and then D 14 days out, based on availability, etc etc etc. Stateroom upgrades available on cruise vacations of 5 nights or longer based on availability within 14 days of departure date. Offer varies by ship and sail dates with certain restrictions. Offer is not valid during Christmas and New Years sailings. Upgrades will be given in priority to Crown & Anchor members based on tier level, cruise credits, time of booking and the original fare paid by the guest. To be available for this benefit, we must have your loyalty membership number in your reservation and your valid email address and/or valid phone number. A Royal Caribbean associate will contact you upon availability. A response is needed within 24 hours or the upgrade will be given to the next guest on the priority list. Upgrades are final up to 4 days before your sail date, and cannot be done by a pier agent or onboard any of our ships. Offer may be withdrawn at any time and cannot be combined with any other upgrade offers or certain restricted fares.
cruisenfever Posted June 1, 2010 #279 Share Posted June 1, 2010 As I was perusing the Diamond Plus Benefits, I noticed that it appears that someone at RCL can't add. If you look at the Diamond Plus ON BOARD BOOKING + CERTIFICATE FOR A 3-5 NIGHT SAILING, the On Board Credit is $25, the Savings Certificate is $25, for a total of $60? OMG:eek: ROFL LMAO!!!!!!!!!! marci22 Posted June 1, 2010 #280 Share Posted June 1, 2010 Forgive if this has been answered but can someone answer a couple of questions please- I noticed that in the perks boxes it looks like Diamond members get an Amenity delivered to their stateroom...isnt this usually only a Dplus perk? Also they have the diamond sign at the complimentary upgrade section. Sorry I tried to copy and paste it but cc keeps saying too many images :o Upgrade Availability For Diamond Members Royal Caribbean usually sails to its capacity; however in the event we are able to offer an upgrade we will contact our Crown & Anchor Members based on their tier status. As a Diamond member we want you to be part of that consideration. We will contact you in advance of sailing if an upgrade becomes available, so please make sure we have your most recent contact information. Amenity: yes it is checked off for Diamonds, I wonder what it could be though. Maybe a cap or a tote bag. The upgrade for Ds seems like a way to add another benefit without actually having to deliver it. What percentage of D+s get upgrades currently? Liz, I'm reading that they are going to be bringing back a gift for D/D+ pax. But I do hope it's not more pleather frames, hats, or totes. wheretonow? Posted June 1, 2010 #291 Share Posted June 1, 2010 I know this is new, but a few quick questions for those that seem to know: - If I booked during the WOW sale, can I cancel those bookings and rebook so that I get the combined onboard credit and balony savings? (Yes, I lose the reduced deposit and possibly my cabin, but I can live with that.) - Can I book 2 new cabins and then cancel the old booking? Can you have your name on more than one cabin on the same sailing? - If I book online using the codes listed on the C&A page, where do I enter the discount code? and lastly - If I book now as a Platinum but turn Diamond before the sailing, do I get the Platinum balcony discount or the Diamond balcony discount? Thanks!
I cruise 4 cheap Posted June 1, 2010 #292 Share Posted June 1, 2010 It's easy to react negatively to what Coach T is saying because of the way he presents it, but to be honest, he isn't saying anything that Richard Fain hasn't said more eloquently, especially as it pertains to the pricing of Oasis. It's also not uncommon for businesses to want to rid themselves of their least-profitable customers. I work for a major bank and we do it all the time. You can't take his comments personally. weel if you work at a bank then you would know the bank makes all their money off the back of us c & d class cruisers! we are the one with the mortages and loans. you know all the interest payments the banks collect!. All you upper class people are the one who can pay cash and not incure debt. the bank have to pay YOU interest for money you store with them. So who is the banks least PROFITABLE customers? everything goes in a circle, and unless you are able or willing to look at things from someone ele's side you will just have your own tiny point of view to keep you warm. like others have said, if you don't like the class of people Royal is getting on the boat to ensure full sailings, then you can go to one of the lux lines. also would luv to see your buddies cramming 2 to 4 of them in the interior cabins as you feel they would turn out in drove once us lower class are gone. manybe royal will knock some walls down and make the interiors bigger for you.

So, if I got a better rate than someone with 10 cruises less, they could be ahead of me on the list?? Its based on all of the above criteria?? I havent been buying future cruise certs anymore, since they cant be combined, and didnt buy during the wow sale ... because I have stock. So, it doesnt sound like there is anything I can see that would benefit me to rebook right now?? Or am I missing something. I got the call too, and am feeling confused. marci22 Posted June 1, 2010 #294 Share Posted June 1, 2010 and lastly - If I book now as a Platinum but turn Diamond before the sailing, do I get the Platinum balcony discount or the Diamond balcony discount? You can call and request your Diamond discount once you have completed 10 cruise credits. So book as Platinum and get adjusted later.

firefly333 Posted June 1, 2010 #296 Share Posted June 1, 2010 Iv read thru about half of this and confused as ever ... so bottom line, if I did not purchase any future cruise credits, right now there is nothing I can do that would get me more OBC? If there are no certificates for my cruises (probably wouldnt be) and no cert, just do the stock credit as usual, nothing added? I think I will start spinning around with Patti. See if that helps me figure this out.

So who is the banks least PROFITABLE customers?Where did you hear this? Banks make the money by investing the DEPOSITS of their A customers. What with interest rates are, the rate of return on investments are far higher. Nice try though. also would luv to see your buddies cramming 2 to 4 of them in the interior cabins as you feel they would turn out in drove once us lower class are gone. manybe royal will knock some walls down and make the interiors bigger for you. You just don't get it at all. It has nothing to do with wealth. It has everything to do with the type of people attracted by lower rates. They spend less and frankly are a lower class of passenger. Raising rates will get rid of those who cruise 4 cheap. The sooner the better.
Merc85 Posted June 1, 2010 #298 Share Posted June 1, 2010 There shouldn't be a business out there trying to get rid of their least-profitable customers. especially banks. Maybe the unprofitable ones. RCI has 26 million available passenger cruise days. $20 per day profit is all they need to more than triple their net income from last year. I'm guessing you mean $20 per day profit per passenger......either that or RCI only made $2433 total profit last year. ;)
critterchick Posted June 1, 2010 #299 Share Posted June 1, 2010 Random thoughts... I've seen crowding in the CL, but it is less than it was before the D pax were evicted. On Radiance in April there were people who spent the entire 3-1/2 hours in the CL, only departing to the WJ to grab a quick bite and then coming back to close the place down. We always mean to have one drink (we also go about 6:00 to avoid the first hour crush) and then head to the Champagne Bar or a show. But we get to talking with others and have such a great time that we often forget to leave until dinner. It's the company that keeps us there more than the cocktails, although we certainly enjoy those, too. I wonder if the D/D+ amenity isn't the cheese plate and petit fours that are delivered during the course of the cruise, not the caps, bags, etc.

And when some think they are classier than others because they donate 3k per day to the casino, it is a lot easier to reach that $20 pp/pd.
