vickila Posted June 1, 2010 #301 Share Posted June 1, 2010 OK read through this all and was still confused so called C&A. We just turned Diamond Plus with 24 credits. We booked in May onboard for a Feb. 2011 cruise -- $300 off balcony - no onboard credit. It is not retroactive. Now if we were to cancel and rebook -- it would be $350 off balcony and could combine something -- but what? There are no coupons for that cruise and I'm not onboard. And it would be $450 pp booking instead of $100 we paid. Any comments? But here's what ticked me off more -- asked to be transferred to Diamond Plus Rep. It said in the e-mail that all cruisers when they reach 20 will receive a Crystal ship. Well we're at 24 and NEVER RECEIVED ONE. According to this rep. since it is a June 1 ruling -- we wouldn't be eligible to receive our crystal until WE REACH 30. She wouldn't budge. Does this seem right? CVU Posted June 1, 2010 #302 Share Posted June 1, 2010 Random thoughts... I wonder if the D/D+ amenity isn't the cheese plate and petit fours that are delivered during the course of the cruise, not the caps, bags, etc. If they are going to deliver these treats to the cabin, like cheese plates....they should deliver them earlier in the day. We leave our cabin and return to get ready for dinner and there is the wilted warm cheese! Very wasteful as it is not appealing by then...... So, not a Plus at all for us, we would rather have the caps etc.......
cruising grandma Posted June 1, 2010 #303 Share Posted June 1, 2010 We are Diamond + and are cruising Thursday on Enchantment of the Seas. We will have our first junior suite, after many inside, oceanview, balcony and concierge class(Celebrity) cruise......Then, the day after the RCI cruise is over, we cruise on Celebrity Solstice in an inside cabin. As far as the rude comments toward "lower class people in inside cabins" not spending as much $$ and RCI needing to raise the cost per cruise to make it difficult for them to purchase, shame on you........ These next two cruises will be my 44th and 45th cruises, so I've spent many $$$ on cruising whether in a suite or an inside stateroom.....and many more $$$$$$ in onboard accounts. I am very excited to see the new benefits for Diamond +, and applaud Royal Caribbean for these. (Oh, and if I'm taking up YOUR seat in YOUR suite concierge lounge, complain to someone who cares.....) Neither did I. During the month of June you can book "on land" and still get the credit as if you were booking onboard.

It could be 3 years before we achieve 30 credits -- doesn't make me happy! Had a place for it right next to my Waterford ship! Yes, during the month of June you can book on land -- but only for cruises after May 2011 -- our booking was for Feb. 27, 2011. Vicki

I have another question. If I book a cruise for later next year and change it, would the booking # keep the OBC and D+ discount? We are basically all booked up for next year but wouldn't mind getting the double dip now that it is possible. I, too, would like to see the shareholder benefit combinable, but I am pleased with the overall changes. After all, they don't have to give us anything other than a great cruise. Before today, the ship was given to some on the 20th credit, when asked for, at the individual ships discretion. Getting it on the 30th was supposed to be the fleet wide policy. Now getting it on the 20th is supposed to be the fleet wide policy, and not at the discretion of the individual ship. Those that did not get them on the 30th, 40th, etc, should be able to write C&A to get them.
Cruising89143 Posted June 1, 2010 #310 Share Posted June 1, 2010 I also LOVE the idea of D+ Priority Seating for theater/ice/AquaTheater shows. We'll be traveling with my 1.5 yr old daughter in September, and we don't have to worry about getting to these shows 30-45 minutes early just to try to find a decent seat (all while keeping a 1.5 year old entertained)! I can't wait to read reviews in the coming months about how large of a VIP area is reserved, how good the seats are, how they monitor to make sure that non-D+ people don't sit there, etc. Well twice now on the Oasis and they didn't have anyone watching who sits where. I watched as people came up to the section and bascially said tough S$%* and dropped the rope and sat down.

Yep....see that on the reserved sections all the time...I once heard one women telling her husband "I don't care this section is for suite guests....this is where I want to sit"....and plopped her stuff on 4 loungers and disappeared. It's going to be interesting....there are so many D+ on some sailings, combined with suite guests they will have to rope off half of Studio B:rolleyes:

Merc85 Posted June 1, 2010 #313 Share Posted June 1, 2010 yes per day per passenger. And when some think they are classier than others because they donate 3k per day to the casino, it is a lot easier to reach that $20 pp/pd. I hope they keep doing so whatever their reason is since it helps keep our cruise fares lower!! :)

Also will be interesting how they handle the pool chairs, will the reserved section become larger yet? Kind of glad I still have a month to back out of my reservation if these things get crazy! booze brothers Posted June 1, 2010 #317 Share Posted June 1, 2010 Not going to happen. Those ships are sailing full at the prices they are charging now. What will happen, is a better class of cruiser that spends more money will start to cruise again. Believe it or not, there are people holding back because RCI is just too cheap because of the clientele that a lower price attracts. Just wondering where you get all your information because I'm really not buying it. You can add me to your list of dumb, cheap and low class. And, I'm probably one of the happiest people you will ever meet, just need to wipe the s&*t off my shoes.
I cruise 4 cheap Posted June 1, 2010 #318 Share Posted June 1, 2010 I hope they keep doing so whatever their reason is since it helps keep our cruise fares lower!! :) just remember merc85, those low fares are what keeps low class people like myself coming back (repeat biz) to the royal ships! the upper class have to put up with us on their ships! if it was not for them we would not get the deals on our holidays! I hope one day to meat these people to worship at their feet and thank them for all they have done for me. and to my banker friend! yes banks invest the monies of you upper class people. but those low interest rates you talk about, more impact the day to day investments of the banks and not the locked in (at high interest rates) mortage rates of us lower class. many of us got our mortages before the interest rate crash! my personal take is royal is in it to get money from everyone they can! if your willing to pay for a suite, they will take that cash! if you can only afford a cabin, they take that cash too. but to make the upper class feel good about themselves, royal will give them a few perks and pat them on the head and say see we like you more, so come spend you money here and we'll be sure to try and keep the riff raff out of your site as much as possible! luv ya all not get out there and sail away!

ruskatab Posted June 1, 2010 #325 Share Posted June 1, 2010 Where did you hear this? Banks make the money by investing the DEPOSITS of their A customers. What with interest rates are, the rate of return on investments are far higher. Nice try though. You just don't get it at all. It has nothing to do with wealth. It has everything to do with the type of people attracted by lower rates. They spend less and frankly are a lower class of passenger. Raising rates will get rid of those who cruise 4 cheap. The sooner the better. Just because someone likes to get a bargain doesnt make them lower class. It just means that I can take that many more vacations with the savings.
