Never heard elevators, ship noise, or people in the hall Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes Balcony View - Excellent, unobstructed Balcony Size? - Large Was wind a problem? - No Any other comments? - Highly recommended. It was the best room we've been on in a cruise ship (most expensive as well). (With comments on problems) – Yes, quiet. No issues with noise from above or in the hall. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes, but never used. Balcony View - View was perfect looking out straight and to the left. The Cabin next to us, must have had a partial obstructed view as the window cleaning apparatus was docked to the side of their balcony. So when we looked to the right, we saw that. A little disappointed at first, but wasn't really a big deal. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal size balcony. Was wind a problem? - No, wind was not a problem. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - No problems with this cabin. Any other comments? - I thought the location of this cabin was perfect. It was forward-mid. Fairly close to the Atrium but never heard the music once we were inside our cabin. I would book this stateroom again.
bdfitz53 Posted July 27, 2016 #779 Share Posted July 27, 2016 Ship - Empress of the Seas Deck - 8 Stateroom # - 8164 Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – The only time the room was not quiet was when we were pulling into port, which was quite noisy because of the engine, but there was very little noise from neighbors and hallway. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no Ocean view - big window Any other comments? - other than the occasional engine noise, I would definitely recommend this room as it is bigger than the rest of the standard staterooms. There is a bump out due to its location and that's where they put the bunks, so no bunks directly overhead of the main bed.

(With comments on problems) – yes and we were surprised at how quiet it was. We didn't hear anything from the open promenade deck below us. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - yes. Connecting interior door with 6321. My sister was in that cabin and we had to open the door to be able to talk. We could not hear each other through the walls or door. Once in a while I could tell their tv was on. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No balcony this room has bay windows Comments- we liked the layout of this cabin with the sitting area by the Windows. The bed was very comfortable with a foam topper and soft duvet. We did have to keep the curtains pulled because others can see into the cabin. Seacruise Posted August 6, 2016 #783 Share Posted August 6, 2016 (edited) Ship - Explorer OTS Deck - 7 Stateroom # - 7139 Forward Stateroom Category – N Starboard or Port Side - Centre Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Carts heard above room starting at 5:00 AM. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Any specific problems with this cabin? - Yes. This cabin was added during Dry-Dock 2015. The closet is NOT a normal closet as they added an additional 8 inches of wall to the back of the closet so hangers have to be turned 90 degrees so the doors can be closed. They also put in a wall to cover a pipe that was in this space prior to the addition removing more space. The bathroom does not have any glass holders on the wall so you don't get any glasses in the bathroom because it would be a safety hazard to leave them on the counter. The sink is also missing a soap holder so one must put the soap on the counter. If there is any motion one must play find the soap when they return to the cabin. It should be noted that the P1/P2 cabins that were also added in dry-dock also have this bathroom problem. The cabin is narrower than other CAT N cabins making it difficult to get into bed when the beds are together. This cabin is lacking in space we had to use a suit-case as drawer space. Any other comments? - The plus to this cabin it has it's own AC unit so if you turn it down colder it blows cold right away. The other plus it has a true fridge that keeps things cold. In fact we had an ice build up on the back coils. This cabin was in a good location otherwise. We had this cabin on 24 Day Transpacific cruise and it was a problem storing clothes. (With comments on problems) – Reasonably quiet with staterooms either side, above, below, and opposite. Not too much footfall outside as it is almost halfway between the elevators. I'm not sure how well the balcony door sealed (in terms of sound) as we could hear next door's balcony conversations fairly easily  Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Any specific problems with this cabin? - The wardrobe doors could do with adjusting so that they close properly. On the balcony, there is a repair in the floor covering next to the barrier which is starting to lift - mind you don't get sealant on your feet/sandals! Any other comments? - As you enter from the corridor, the wardrobe is on the left, bathroom on the right. Bed is on the right, near to the balcony, there is a sofa between the bed and the bathroom on the right. The desk is on the left. Despite the 'specific problems' above, this is a typical balcony stateroom with no major issues that would spoil a holiday / vacation :)

(With comments on problems) – Yes, especially considering it was nearly above the Dog & Badger pub Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Any specific problems with this cabin? - None really, although the bathroom smelt a bit damp/musty at times. Any other comments? - As you enter from the corridor, the bathroom is on the left, the wardrobe in on the right. The bed(s) is/are on the left and the desk is on the right. There is a sofa between the bed(s) and the window, and a sofa in the window. As this is the deck 8 promenade view, the window is angled so that you can see the promenade better. The window is almost opposite Vintages, almost directly opposite the stairs to the casino and is above the Duty Free shop.

Very bad vibration when the Captain is using the BOW Thrusters when coming into port early each morning. On one morning it was so bad that my head was bouncing off the pillow, all the drawers opened and the hangers in the wardrobe were banging together. Also the room attendants access to the passenger deck was beside our stateroom door. The stateroom was well set out and had plenty of storage and a large shower cubicle.
