(With comments on problems) – Extremely quiet, but occasional noises in the hallway (very minimal considering location near the elevators and for spring break). Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – This was one of the aft end of hump cabins. Very little view forward, but view all the way aft. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Was wind a problem? - No. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - n/a Any specific problems with this cabin? - No. Any other comments? - Since this was an end of the hump cabin, the extra room from the hump was in the area between the bed and the balcony. There was a good three feet in between the curtain and the balcony door, which we used as a 'dressing room' (when at sea, of course!). Also, the room contained a sofa bed which is unusual for an E1. It works as a double for kids, but I had to sleep diagonally (I'm 5'11). The bed wasn't too uncomfortable.

(With comments on problems) – It was very quiet - except for some door slamming late at night (unavoidable if people are rude) Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – We had a great starboard view. We did get occasional drips from the cantilevered whirlpool above - but it would only be an issue if you leaned over the railing. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Was wind a problem? - Only one night - when we went through some high seas and storms were in the area. Otherwise, wind wasn't an issue at all. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Forward cabin (very close to forward elevators) Any specific problems with this cabin? - We loved having the bed by the balcony. It gave us more room as you walk in - and getting into the closet wasn't an issue. I loved to lay in bed at night with the curtains open and look out on the ocean/waves. Any other comments? - This was a great location if you like Central Park and the restaurants/bars there. It was closest to Vintages - which was our favorite bar. (With comments on problems) - Yes, very quiet. Only one night when there was a private function in Giovanni's could we hear faint music. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. - Absolutely amazing! Perfect view all the way forward and aft as centre hump cabin. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - I believe it is normal for the class of stateroom but it is the centre hump cabin and it did feel very large. Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - Not really, just a minor case of inconsiderate guests. Sometimes people would congregate outside as near the elevators/stairs and be quite loud. However, during unsociable hours, most people were considerate. Any other comments? - Fantastic cabin. Perfect location for the Concierge Lounge and aft elevators. For those interested, muster station is B21, on the deck 4 promenade outside Bolero's starboard side. We were in this cabin for the 2/18/2017 Eastern Caribbean 8-day itinerary sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale. We are in full agreement with the comments made above, so no significant updates. LOVED it. Only additions...based on the picture, the arrangement of the balcony furniture was "flip-flopped" for our sailing, with the lounges and table/chairs on opposite sides. Also, I think we only had one phantom doorbell ring during our stay.

(With comments on problems) – Yes Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? -No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – I would NOT recommend this cabin because of balcony issues. The window was only a porthole which was totally unexpected and the curtain hung over half of it. The door to the balcony was very heavy and difficult to open and every morning, which would have been a prime time to sit on the balcony, everything was wet. There were lounge chairs but very little room to move around them with the triangle shape. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Undersized because of triangular shape. Was wind a problem? -No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -A couple of mornings they had to be cleaned off. Any specific problems with this cabin? -Not with the cabin...just the balcony. Any other comments? - This is the first time in over 20 cruises that we have paid for a balcony and gotten a porthole view. We have enjoyed the aft view on previous cruises but this time got little use of the balcony because of wet or sunny conditions.

(With comments on problems) – For the most part other than the constant sounds of deck chairs/tables/walking/running from the pool deck above. Not much to be done for it on such an old ship. We were pretty forward; it might have been better towards the aft. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstruction although you had a good view of the lifeboats hanging a few decks below. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Small but adequate. Two chairs and a small square table. Also, an open railing on the balcony. I wouldn't want to bring a small child onto this balcony. We were constantly worried scraps of paper or what not would go floating through the rails. Was wind a problem? - No. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - Nothing other than the noise from above. Any other comments? - There are no "regular" balcony staterooms on Empress. Although these are classified as JS, they are very very small compared to JS on all other classes. There was no tub, only a dinky corner shower with the dreaded attacking shower curtain. However, the stateroom was laid out nicely with sufficient storage and a nice size walk in (ish) closet. Not a lot of clearance in the "walk ways" between bed, vanity, bathroom; DH and I were constantly bumping into one another (I'm petite, he's average size). Still, an older ship, we knew what to expect and were not disappointed at all. FYI coffee maker en suite but no mini fridge. Oh, and the safe was on the top shelf in the closet so short folks may have difficulty accessing it.

Deck 7 near aft elevator is conveniently located, except that there is no walkway from aft to starboard. This area to open, just above the entrance to the boardwalk on deck 6.
